Tributes paid to elderly sisters killed in collision while on ‘morning walk' in Reading
The women, aged 70 and 68, both died after colliding with a blue Volkswagen Tiguan on Peppard Road in Caversham, Reading, at around 7.55am on Friday 27 June, Thames Valley Police said.
In a statement shared by the force on Tuesday, the family of the victims, named as Sandra and Sylvia, said they were 'two of the most loving, caring women you would ever meet'.
They said: "It is such a tragedy that these two lives have been taken away and knowing they were taken whilst they were doing what they loved best – their morning walks, it just hits harder.
"Every Friday morning, the sisters would go for a walk, down to the town and back home. But unfortunately this Friday was different.
"They were both healthy and full of life, with future plans. They both had holidays, adventures and were soon welcoming new additions, great grandchildren, to the family.
"They are and will forever be missed and loved more than ever by family and friends."
The surnames of the victims were not released by the family.
A 47-year-old woman from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the incident, Thames Valley Police said.
Investigating officer PS Matthew Cadmore said on Friday: "An investigation has been launched and we have already made an arrest.
"I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident and hasn't already come forward, to please get in touch.
"I am also appealing to anyone with dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell footage, or any information that may assist our investigation, to please contact us."

Police have launched an urgent sex attack probe after children were reportedly given food and sexually assaulted at a community centre. A 41-year-old man has been arrested over the disturbing incident in Aylesbury yesterday. The suspect, from Watermead, currently remains in custody. Police appeal for help tracing motorbike after fatal Hammersmith shooting
Detectives investigating a fatal shooting in Hammersmith are appealing for the public's help in tracing a motorbike believed to have been used by the suspect. Police were called to Claxton Grove at 23:19 on Wednesday 11 June, where two men were found with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospital where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, 30-year-old Northolt resident Jordan Oliver Rodney, died on Thursday, 12 June. The Met Police said his next of kin are being supported by specialist officers. The second man, also in his 30s, sustained minor injuries and has since been discharged from hospital. Jahmel Joseph, 28, of Eaton Rise, Ealing, was charged on Saturday 14 June with murder, attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a prohibited weapon, and dangerous driving. He remains in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday 2 September. Officers from the Met's homicide team are now asking for help tracing a Yamaha MT-09 Tracer motorbike, which was captured on CCTV in the Ealing area near Eaton Rise. They believe it was used by the suspect around the time of the shooting.
