World War II veteran receives special tour of Ford's Heritage Fleet of cars
Bill McCubbin, a 102-year-old World War II veteran and former Ford dealership owner, traveled hundreds of miles from Indiana to Dearborn after seeing Ford's Heritage collection of vehicles on CBS News over the weekend. McCubbin's family contacted Ted Ryan, Ford's Archives and Heritage Brand Manager, about setting up a visit.
McCubbin owned a Ford dealership in Madison, Indiana, for more than 60 years, but his history with Ford began as a young soldier.
"Bill's story is fascinating," Ryan said. "You know, his first Ford contact, he came to work at Willow Run building B-24 Liberator bombers.
"I was already drafted, just waiting for a spot to go into the Navy, so I lived over in Ann Arbor for four months and worked at Willow Run Ford," McCubbin said.
McCubbin's story amazes Ryan, and he says the company is honored to welcome home a hero and former longtime Ford dealer and employee.
McCubbin's love for Ford began as a young boy living in Kentucky.
My second-oldest brother used to sell cars in Detroit, and he visited us down in Kentucky when I was just a little kid; I come from a family of eight kids. He came down with a Model A with the double spare tires in the fenders, a little convertible. I thought, 'Boy, I've gotta have one of those,' and that's really what got me started to loving Ford," McCubbin said.
With his long history with Ford, McCubbin was excited to visit the special fleet of vehicles, and he was the star of the show during Monday's visit.
"I guess I've always had Ford Motor Company running in my blood. I've always loved Ford and still do," McCubbin said.

2 California Highway Patrol officers hospitalized after rollover crash in Palmdale
Two California Highway Patrol officers were hospitalized on Saturday after they were involved in a rollover crash in Palmdale. It happened at around 6:45 p.m. on southbound lanes of the 14 Freeway near Barrel Springs Road, according to CHP officials. Circumstances leading up to the crash remain unclear, but video posted to social media shows the CHP patrol car as it rolls over and ends up on its side. Both of the officers inside were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution, but neither is believed to have suffered any sort of major injury, according to CHP officers. The CHP vehicle was the only one involved in the crash, according to the department. A SigAlert was issued at around 7:20 p.m. as the crash was investigated. It was lifted just before 9:10 p.m.

Instead, her No. 5 Dave & Buster's Toyota Tundra burst into flames as she was in position to potentially pick up a top-15 finish. There were only 13 laps left when this occurred. As if that wasn't bad enough, Breidinger revealed that someone broke into her car and stole her personal items before Friday's race. "Anyone in the Ithaca NY area! My car was broken into last night, and my suitcase was stolen. It's a custom Tumi suitcase with TB on it. Inside were personal items, including my 818 and Coach suits," Breidinger wrote on X. "If you happen to see a suitcase or my racing stuff that's being sold on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Craigslist, or anywhere else, please send me the link." Hopefully, things will turn around for Breidinger this weekend. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit tried uplifting Breidinger by sharing a few photos from her rookie photoshoot along with this caption: "Weekend, we're coming for you... with no pit stops in sight." Breidinger was part of a rookie class for SI Swimsuit that included WNBA star Cameron Brink, golfer Nelly Korda and Olympic gymnast Suni Lee. Breidinger's first experience with SI Swimsuit took place in Boca Raton, Florida. "It's an honor to be featured in the 2025 issue," Breidinger said. "It's very surreal to be in this issue alongside so many inspiring athletes. Thank you a million to everyone who made this dream of mine come true." Things got a little crazy at this year's Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen thanks to a lengthy red flag courtesy of driver Austin Hill. In his first race back from a one-week suspension for reckless driving, the Richard Childress wheelman seemingly doubled-down on his actions by setting off a massive pileup after getting into the back of Michael McDowell and sending him into the guardrail. Hill ended up taking ownership of the fault in the aftermath. But it still didn't sit well with fans or some of his other fellow drivers. "Mainly, I would get to people's right sides, and that time, I ended up getting to his left side," Hill explained from his car mid-race. "I thought that it could work. We obviously don't have a ton of spotters around here. I don't know if he has a spotter off of that carousel corner. He might not. But as soon as I saw he was staying tight to the grass, I probably should have lifted." "That was definitely just on me. Just driver error," he admitted. "I'm going for it here. The No. 88 is driving away from us and I felt like I needed to make a move as fast as possible on the No. 11. Destroyed a lot of race cars, so it's just really unfortunate." Users had very little sympathy on X. "Not sure how that's an error," a fan tagged Hill. "This isn't blue collar racing ... it's desperation with a side of stupidity."
