Lake Amon Carter and Selma Park closed due to floods caused by heavy rains

Yahoo27-05-2025

MONTAGUE COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — As of Monday, May 26, Lake Amon Carter and Selma Park are closed due to heavy rains and flooding.
According to a Facebook post made by the Emergency Communications Team of Montague County, due to heavy rains, the water levels rose to 922.1 feet as of 9 a.m. today.
The post states that this causes the lake levels to be two or more feet above full, which could cause flooding and electrical problems at the park.
The lake is closed for boating, and the park is closed for camping until the water levels drop back down below 922.0 feet.

Large hail, damaging winds and flooding concerns Sunday in the Wichita area

Golf ball-sized hail, damaging wind gusts of 60-70 mph and potential flooding from heavy rain is possible in the Wichita area on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Wichita is a two on a zero-to-five scale with five the most likely to be at risk for severe weather. The severe weather is possible from 2 to 10 p.m. The already-saturated ground raises the concern for flooding, which happened in parts of Wichita, Valley Center and El Dorado and surrounding areas Tuesday after three to six inches of rain fell from Monday night through Tuesday. The ground had already been soaked from a wet Memorial Day weekend, which saw 3.64 inches of rain at the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport and 6.67 inches in Valley Center. Wichita saw another 0.9 inches of rain in a storm early Saturday. Families 'lose everything' to Wichita-area flooding. PHOTOS: Trees come crashing down during severe thunderstorms across metro Atlanta

As severe weather rocked the South this weekend, the metro Atlanta area wasn't spared. Thunderstorms even brought trees down across Georgia. Here's a look at some of the storm damage in our viewing area: A tree also came down on the tracks, deenergizing the third rail between the Medical Center and Dunwoody MARTA stations. For now, there's a bus bridge in effect from Medical Center to Sandy Springs until the tree can be moved. There are also delays on the Red line, according to a spokesperson from MARTA. If you have pictures or video of storm damage in your area, you can submit them for consideration through the FOX 5 Weather app or email them to newstipsatlanta@ The Source These images were either supplied by FOX 5 Atlanta viewers who submitted them through the FOX 5 Storm Team app, or by FOX 5 Atlanta photojournalists.
