HSSC Fake Website Racket Busted, Mastermind Nabbed In Gorakhpur

The Haryana Police arrested the key accused behind a cyber fraud that targeted job seekers through a fake Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) website on Friday, as reported by PTI. According to Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Haryana, Sumita Misra, the main accused—whose name has not yet been disclosed—was operating a counterfeit portal created to resemble the official HSSC site. He was arrested from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
A total of six people have been taken into custody in connection with the scam—four from Gorakhpur, one from Kurukshetra, and one from Fatehabad, PTI reported.
Misra explained that the gang designed a fake website that closely imitated the HSSC portal for CET 2025 registration. Hosted on a third-party domain, the site collected registration fees through QR codes, deceiving unsuspecting candidates into making payments.
Once the scam came to light, the HSSC complained to the Sector-5 Police Station in Panchkula. The fraudulent website was promptly removed from Google, and the QR code used for payments was deactivated.
As per an official statement, at least 77 candidates were duped, with a total fraud amounting to approximately Rs 22,530.
Panchkula DCP Srishti Gupta, who is leading the investigation, urged candidates to use only official government websites ending in .gov.in and to avoid transactions through QR codes or UPI IDs. 'Anyone found exploiting the dreams of young aspirants will face strict legal action," she said, adding that suspicious links or payment requests should be immediately reported to the nearest police station or the cybercrime helpline.
The investigation is being carried out under the supervision of Haryana Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj.
Meanwhile, the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) on Tuesday announced the cancellation of the written examination for Assistant Professor (Hindi) posts, conducted on June 1, 2025. The move comes in response to serious allegations of a paper leak, technical disruptions, and security lapses at several exam centres in Panchkula.
According to the Commission, the exam faced significant technical problems, particularly related to the printing and sealing of question papers. However, HPSC clarified that there was no evidence of intentional tampering or an organised paper leak.

Delhi HC grants interim bail to woman suffering from cancer
New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): The Delhi High Court has granted interim bail to a woman whose condition is serious due to cancer. She is an accused in a drug case registered by the Delhi Police Crime Branch under the NDPS Act. Justice Tushar Rao Gedela granted petitioner Jyoti interim bail until June 15. The High Court will hear the application on June 13. While issuing notice to the state, the bench has asked the Investigation Officer to verify the medical documents and a status report be filed within 3 days. Keeping in view the extreme and terminal medical condition of the applicant and in view of the humanitarian medical crisis which has arisen, the court allowed the application seeking interim bail. 'The applicant is enlarged on interim bail on medical grounds till.15.06.2025, subject to the applicant furnishing a personal bond of Rs . 1,00,000 with one surety of the like amount, subject to the satisfaction of the Jail Superintendent/Trial Court,' Justice Gedela ordered on June 4. Petitioner is an accused in an NDPS Act and was granted interim bail on May 19, 2025 till June 5 on the medical grounds in view of her condition. However the trial court refused to extend the interim bail as her regular bail is pending before the High court. Thereafter, an application seeking interim bail was moved before the High Court. Senior advocate Amit Chaddh,a counsel for the applicant, submitted that as per the Diagnosis Report dated 02.06.2025 of the hospital, the applicant Jyoti, aged 39 years, is suffering from Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. This is an uncommon and rare kind of cancer. It was further submitted that on an application seeking further extension of the interim bail, on 04.06.2025, the Sessions Judge was not inclined to extend it further and had rejected the interim bail application holding that he had no jurisdiction, since the regular bail plea is pending before this Court. Karnataka CM increases compensation for Bengaluru stampede victims' families to Rs 25 lakh each
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 7 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered an increase in the compensation announced for the families of those who died in the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede in Bengaluru to Rs 25 lakh each. Earlier, the government had announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi demanded that CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar should 'resign right now' in connection with the June 4 stampede near Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed 11 lives and left dozens injured. Joshi told reporters, 'The state government should bear moral responsibility. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar should not continue on his position even for a moment. CM and Deputy CM should resign right now.' Earlier, top senior officials of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer ES Jairam, tendered their resignations, taking 'moral responsibility' for the stampede that took place near M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team's felicitation after winning their Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a tight final on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a Bengaluru Sessions Court on Friday remanded four individuals, including senior Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) official Nikhil Sosale and three event managers, to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the stampede. They were arrested in a joint operation by the Cubbon Park police and the Central Crime Branch (CCB) at Kempegowda International Airport in the early hours of June 6 (Friday). Earlier in the day, the Karnataka High Court granted interim relief to the office bearers of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), who had approached the court seeking the quashing of the FIR registered against them in connection with the an interim order, the court directed the state police not to take any coercive action against them until further orders. The High Court adjourned the case to June 9. KSCA President Raghu Ram Bhat, Secretary A Shankar, Treasurer ES Jairam, and other KSCA office bearers moved the High Court seeking to quash the FIR. Nikhil Sosale also approached the High Court to challenge his arrest. He claimed that he was arrested without any materials and even before the police had conducted a preliminary enquiry. He has thus sought to declare his arrest as illegal. On Thursday, the Bengaluru police registered an FIR against the RCB franchise, DNA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., an event management company, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for culpable homicide, illegal assembly, and other serious charges. Rajasthan: Bank employee withdraws Rs 4.58 crore from customer's account in Kota, arrested
ANI 08 Jun 2025, 01:27 GMT+10 Kota (Rajasthan) [India], June 8 (ANI): A woman employee of ICICI Bank in Kota allegedly withdrew Rs 4.58 crore from customers' accounts and invested it in the share market, police said on late Saturday, adding that she has been arrested. Sub-inspector (SI) Udyog Nagar Police Station Mohammad Ibrahim told reporters, 'Bank officer Sakshi Gupta took Rs 4.58 crore from 43 customers' accounts. A case has been registered, and she has been arrested'. 'Sakshi Gupta had invested this money in the share market through a demat account,' the officer added. More details are awaited. (ANI)
