Our doors are open for Badgujar: Bawankule
Nashik: Despite significant internal opposition, including from Nashik West MLA Seema Hiray and other BJP functionaries, state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule has indicated that the door remains open for Sudhakar Badgujar — the recently expelled Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy leader — to join the saffron party. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Badgujar had been accused by the BJP of being anti-national after purported video clips surfaced showing him with 1993 Mumbai Bomb Blast convict Salim Kutta. However, Bawankule, speaking in Nashik at a workshop for over 550 party office-bearers from the Nashik division, asserted that an individual is not a criminal until proven so in a court of law. When asked about Badgujar potentially joining the party, Bawankule said, "The doors are open to all those who want to join the party." He acknowledged the existing "bitterness, misgivings, and misunderstandings" between Badgujar and current BJP leaders, citing their past electoral contest in the assembly elections. Bawankule added that he and Girish Mahajan were "looking into the matter". He emphasized that no deadline had been set for a decision on Badgujar's inclusion. "It will take time. After all, the party is striving for the development of society and the country, and we want to increase the party bases. We will decide appropriately and accordingly if anybody wants to join us without any conditions," Bawankule said. In response to the question that party functionaries felt accepting Badgujar into the party fold would malign the party image, Bawankule said, "Making allegations against a person is one thing, and conviction by the court is another. I personally believe that no one should judge any person based on allegations." Regarding the Thackeray brothers coming together, Bawankule said the party has nothing to do with their decision, especially when the Mahayuti is stronger than ever.

Bengaluru stampede: ‘Craving publicity when people died,' H D Kumaraswamy demands Karnataka govt to sack Deputy CM D K Shivakumar
Holding Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar responsible for the stampede at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru that killed 11 people, Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy Thursday demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah sack Shivakumar from the Cabinet. Kumaraswamy alleged that the 'insensitive' attitude of Shivakumar was on display after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) arrived at Bengaluru Airport following their win in the Indian Premier League, during the felicitation at Vidhana Soudha and at the stadium. 'He was craving publicity even when people were dying,' he told reporters in Delhi. He said that Shivakumar acted as a 'rowdy' during the incident. 'What was the necessity to hold the (felicitation) event at the grand stairs of Vidhana Soudha? The entire state government made it their family event. It was a show of dadagiri by the deputy CM. Even after knowing that people had died, he participated in the event held inside the stadium,' Kumaraswamy alleged. BJP state president B Y Vijayendra said that even as TV channels were reporting the deaths, the deputy chief minister was seen kissing the cup at Chinnaswamy Stadium. 'What was the necessity of organising celebrations in front of Vidhana Soudha when an event was already planned at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government should come clean on whether the decision to celebrate at Vidhana Soudha was taken by the deputy CM or by the CM, and when that decision was made,' he said. Meanwhile, Shivakumar accused the Opposition parties of playing politics over dead bodies. Turning emotional, Shivakumar said that he had seen the young kids who died. 'No family can digest such an incident,' he said. On his participation in the program at the stadium after the tragedy, Shivakumar claimed that he did not have plans to attend it despite the invitation offered to him by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). 'I took the KSCA president and other members of the management in my car, and we closed the program in 10 minutes. I was not aware of the deaths until I reached the stadium… I went there and told them not to hold any function,' he said. Commenting on the allegations against the government, he said that the Opposition parties were only doing mischief. 'The BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular) always play politics over dead bodies. That is their political agenda. We are deeply hurt. It is as if our own family members have died,' he said.

BJP leaders criticize Cong govt for stampede, demand resignations
Mysuru: Following the stampede in Bengaluru that resulted in 11 fatalities during the victory celebrations of RCB's IPL win, BJP leaders from Mysuru have strongly criticised the Congress-led Karnataka govt. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The opposition has demanded immediate resignations from CM Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar, and home minister G Parameshwara, citing negligence and moral responsibility. Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as 'heartbreaking' and a consequence of govt's 'shocking lack of planning, coordination, and accountability.' He highlighted that despite being aware of RCB's substantial fanbase and planned celebrations, the govt failed to implement adequate safety measures. While extending condolences to the bereaved and calling for a comprehensive investigation, he stated that he will not blame this as an intelligence failure. Krishnaraja MLA TS Srivatsa also took a dig at the state govt. Attributing the incident to a government oversight and insufficient preparation, he criticised the Congress for transforming RCB's celebrations into a 'party programme' and alleged that leaders' family members were permitted to take photographs during the event. Srivatsa demanded accountability for the 11 deaths and insisted that the CM, DCM, and home minister resign immediately.
