Officials keen to make rural people participate in Yogandhra-2025

Vizianagaram Collector B.R. Ambedkar and Joint Collector Sedhu Madhavan directed all Mandal-level officers to make people living in rural areas also to participate in Yogandhra-2025, which is a month long programme being observed between May 21st to June 21st, 2025. According to the officials, around 4,400 yoga trainers were identified to train the people under this programme named as One Earth-One Health.
The Mandal-level officials have to make people enrol in the yoga portal which would in turn help them to know about the nearby yoga centres and trainers.
Vizianagaram Municipal Commissioner P. Nallanayya said that mass yoga programme would be conducted on May 26th in Vizinaagaram under the guidance of yoga trainers. Senior yoga trainer Borra Kaleswara Rao hailed the government initiative and said that this mass yoga programme would make people know about the importance of fitness and healthy habits in their day to day life.

Speaking at the special beach yoga festival conducted as part of the month-long Yogandhra-2025 campaign to commemorate the 11th International Yoga Day on June 21, Minister Swamy emphasised that yoga is an integral part of Indian culture and should be practiced by everyone. The minister revealed that yoga programmes have been organised at four tourist destinations in the district as part of the Yogandhra campaign, and encouraged large-scale public participation in other places. The minister announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the main event to be held in Visakhapatnam on June 21st, and arrangements have been made to conduct yoga programmes at one lakh locations across the state on that day, with two crore people participating statewide. Additionally, 25,000 children will perform 125 Surya Namaskars as part of the celebrations, he added. Collector Thameem Ansariya highlighted that complete health can be achieved through daily yoga practice. She explained that 9.60 lakh people in the district have registered on the Yogandhra app to participate in the campaign, so far. She urged everyone to incorporate yoga into their lifestyle for a healthy life. SP Damodar stressed that everyone should practice yoga, which provides good health and mental stability. He said that yoga is not merely physical exercise but significantly contributes to mental peace and stress management, providing relief from stress and anxiety while ensuring mental and physical strength. Joint collector Gopala Krishna announced that yoga programmes will be conducted at 6758 locations, specifically in Prakasam district. He said that a large-scale yoga programme with Self Help Group members is planned for June 20th, and he encouraged everyone to participate in the International Yoga Day programme on June 21st to make it successful. The yoga sessions were conducted under the guidance of yoga guru Patanjali Bala Subrahmanyam, and several district-level officers, along with the public, participated.

Speaker Devnani made the remarks while speaking to reporters after participating in a yoga rehearsal session at the Rajasthan Assembly ahead of the 11th International Day of Yoga. 'Yoga is very important for a healthy mind, body and soul...I thank PM Modi, Baba Ramdev and many other organisations for promoting should make Yoga a part of our everyday life,' he said. The preparations are gaining momentum across the country for the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), scheduled for 21st June. Meanwhile, Visakhapatnam, selected as the national venue for this year's celebrations, witnessed a comprehensive field inspection and high-level review meeting by senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The inspection at ground level, led by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, and K Vijayanand, Special Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh, included senior officials such as Monalisa Dash, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, District Collector M N Harendhira Prasad, and heads of key departments including Health, Urban Planning, Ayush, and VMRDA. Their joint visit to the main sites--RK Beach, Rishikonda Beach, Andhra University, and GITAM University--underscored the scale and seriousness with which the event is being planned. These venues will not only host the main yoga demonstration but will also serve as centres for cultural, educational, and wellness activities, resonating with the Prime Minister's vision of yoga as a people-centric movement. During the review, detailed discussions were held on inter-departmental coordination, mobilisation strategies, security protocols, and cultural integration. Special emphasis was laid on the preparedness of infrastructure and public participation, ensuring that every logistical aspect aligns with the national ambition of making yoga a mass movement. Officials reviewed how various departments are coming together in a spirit of collaboration, echoing the PM's vision that yoga should unite institutions and communities in the service of collective well-being. At the heart of Andhra Pradesh's efforts is the pioneering 'Yogandhra' initiative, which aims to transform yoga into a daily practice for more than two crore citizens across the state. Designed to mobilise communities at scale, Yogandhra includes mass awareness drives, yoga camps in schools and universities, and a targeted plan to create a certified pool of 20 lakh yoga practitioners. With IDY celebrations planned at one lakh locations across the state, and five lakh participants expected in Visakhapatnam alone, the initiative is a powerful embodiment of the Prime Minister's appeal to make yoga truly inclusive, accessible, and transformative.
