Centerville grad Gabe Cupps commits to Ohio State after first two seasons at Indiana
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) – Gabe Cupps is coming back to his home state.
Just eight days after entering the transfer portal, the former Centerville star announced he will join the Buckeyes men's basketball program after spending his first two collegiate seasons at Indiana.
Centerville's Gabe Cupps leaves lasting legacy
Cupps, 2022's Ohio Mr. Basketball Award winner and state champion for the Elks (2021), played limited minutes over two seasons with the Hoosiers, appearing in 37 games.
As a sophomore, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard averaged 2.6 points per game with 36.4 percent shooting, adding 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
Cupps was rated as the No. 94 overall prospect and No. 3 player from Ohio in the 2023 class.
He ranked just behind, now current Buckeyes teammates, Devin Royal, and Dailyn Swain (Xavier).
Cupps becomes Ohio State's first off-season addition via the transfer portal ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Nine days before that game, the Wolverines made news of another sort when 5-star quarterback Bryce Underwood decommitted from LSU and chose to attend Michigan. It was the first championship for the 46-year-old Day and the ninth in program history. In a new video promoting EA Sports College Football 26 posted to the Wolverines' X account on Thursday, a video game version of Underwood can be seen scrambling around the pocket before spinning past a Buckeyes defender and getting open to sling the ball down the field. Ohio State basketball unveils new Value City Arena court design Out with the old, in with the new. On Friday, days after teasing a new court design and reminiscing about hardwood designs of the past, the Ohio State basketball program unveiled a new, sleek look for the upcoming season and beyond. Gone are the plain wood colored floorboards with accented scarlet and gray. The new look features a main gray pallet for the base floorboard color with red accenting things on the baselines, out of bounds, and lane areas, all with a pop of pure white outlining the shapes and letters. It also appears as though the "O" or stained color of Ohio at midcourt will be replaced by "Buckeyes," which will be a first in program history. In case you didn't get a chance to view the new design, the Ohio State Hoops "X" account (formerly Twitter), unveiled the new design via a creative team post on Friday.
