Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody will perform one of his first major gigs as an author, in his home town this summer.
The event discussing his new book, The Forest Is The Path, is expected to be one of the star attractions of this summer's Open House Festival in Bangor, Co Down.
The annual festival includes almost 100 events throughout August, and is expected to attract about 50,000 people to the city, with Bangor Castle Walled Garden and the Court House on the seafront as the focal venues.
Lightbody will be talking to Irish author and broadcaster Sinead Gleeson about his book The Forest Is The Path, which was published in March, in what has been billed as a "very different and incredibly personal hometown appearance", on August 26-27.
Among the other stars to appear at the Walled Garden are singers Lisa O'Neill and Mary Coughlan, folk duo Ye Vagabonds, and comedians Paddy Raff, Chris Kent and Neil Delamere.
Events at the Court House include The Ocelots, twin brothers from Wexford now based in Germany, and a special festival performance by Northern Ireland Opera.

Among the other author events scheduled, former Labour cabinet member Alan Johnson will talk about his new book, Harold Wilson, Chris Whitaker will be discussing his international best-selling novel All The Colours Of The Dark, and American writer Karen Hao will be talking about her new book Empire Of AI.
Open House director Kieran Gilmore said the festival puts a spotlight on Bangor's creative talent.
"This year's festival has some of our finest local artists performing in iconic venues throughout the city," he said.

"From an interview with Gary Lightbody about his new book, to a conversation between Declan Lawn, Bafta-winning writer of Blue Lights, and local author Colin Bateman, to an intimate launch of a new EP by King Cedar, we're bringing around 100 events across a whole range of art forms."
The Open House summer season gets under way on Friday July 4, with the annual Pickie to Pier swimming race, although the Seaside Revival Vintage Festival will not take place this year because of development work on the sea front.
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday June 6 at www.openhousefestival.com.

The actress, 41, quit her role as Eva on the cobbles in 2018 but is now said to be making a comeback, and the former barmaid will now be installed as Rovers Return landlady. Reports surrounding the return of Leanne Battersby's sister emerged earlier this year, but then nothing was announced. Fresh reports just last week claimed the planned plot was now approaching. It's thought that the move has come about after EastEnders bosses revealed that Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) will be taking the reins of the Queen Victoria pub. Aaron McCusker, who starred as Freddie Mercury's boyfriend in the film Bohemian Rhapsody, is reportedly set to arrive alongside her as her new husband. A source told The Sun: "Corrie bosses were never going to take EastEnders shrewd decision to reinstate Kat and Alfie at the Vic lying down. So they took their time looking for the perfect actor to play her husband to Eva as she makes her return to Corrie as the new boss of the Rovers." The insider added that Corrie bosses knew they had found the 'perfect' actor as soon as the Irish-born star walked into the room. They added of his character: "Aaron's character is also someone not to be messed with, and the locals are going to be in for a shock if they think they can take advantage of his good nature and that cheeky Irish charm. "It's the start of an exciting new chapter in the pub's history." Aaron is also known for his role as Jamie Maguire in Shameless, whilst Catherine has appeared in shows such as Scarborough and The Good Ship Murder since her exit from the serial. She was also set to star in a cancelled touring production of Bonnie and Clyde: The Musical last year and went viral over a social media scandal known as Cakegate in late 2023. The actress first appeared on Coronation Street in 2011, and arrived as the daughter of Stella Price (Michelle Collins), who had arrived to take over the pub herself and reveal herself as the long-lost mother of Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). Over the course of seven years, Catherine saw her alter-ego through numerous relationships with the likes of Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas), Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) and Nick Tilsey (Ben Price). Her most notable relationship was with Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), but that started to go awry when he began an affair with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon). Instead of confronting Aidan head-on about his infidelity, she decided to take revenge by putting a bright pink Range Rover on his credit card and then decided to fake a pregnancy. Maria discovered Eva's lies and exposed them all at the wedding but Eva later discovered that she was in fact pregnant with Aidan's baby. On a random summer night, a bouncer perched outside Bar Snack called out to me and other passersby on the street, luring us with the promise of great drinks, great food and "the best bathroom in the East Village." Reader: I am here to tell you—he was right. But if a disco-fresh bathroom isn't enough to tempt you in, the convivial nature and solid list of tasty cocktails (and snacks!) found at Bar Snack certainly will. The vibe: After surveying the East Village and its many, many (expensive) cocktail bars, bartender Iain Griffiths and Brooklyn-based bar owner Oliver Cleary decided they wanted to create something—and so they did, serving "dressed-up classics for dressed-down people." The inside gives off '70s lounge—think wood paneling and a dark, walnut-wood bar lined with glittery orange bar stools. Snagging a seat during the nighttime hours can prove difficult as this bar certainly attracts a crowd, making standing room your best bet. But even the daytime can bring a rowdy good time, as rock and throwback hits (hello Spice Girls!) blare through the speakers. The food: Snack is in the name, isn't it? And snacks, they do so well. Fried cheese curds are tossed in pickle dust and hot dogs get a little fancy with onion jam and a hot pickle. Even the drinks come with a little something, take the chicken skin chicharron that tips on the side of the Boat Snack Martini ($18). But the snack of all snacks is the Spice Bag ($18). Leaning on Griffith's Irish roots, the bag comes to the table in a white paper bag labeled "Spice Bag" fashioned in the style of the Spice Girls logo. As much as you'll want to save it, you must rip it open to reveal buttermilk-fried tendies, fries and peppers. Drizzle on the orange-y curry sauce and get to eating while its still steaming hot. The drinks: The menu is split up into "Crushers" and "Shooters," plus a dedicated daiquiri section with pitchers and tiny sippers, such as the Snaquiri ($12). The bar improves upon the classics, as the whiskey sour riff, the Split Ends ($18), incorporates raspberry and a smooth topper of Guinness, and the Verte Drip ($117) drinks like a mojito but better, swapping out cloyingly sweet notes with a light coconut float and a bit of matcha for depth. Yet the frozens are most definitely a fave, whether it's beach weather outside or not. The Mama Tried ($16) drinks like a limeaid popsicle but with a touch of smoke, thanks to a blend of triple citrus sorbet, mezcal and St. Germain.

Cath's character left the ITV show seven years ago, and is making a spectacular return to the cobbles this week to make scenes that will be shown this autumn. By her side will be Aaaron who starred opposite Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury's boyfriend, Jim Hutton, in the film Bohemian Rhapsody. He also played Jamie Maguire in Channel 4's Shameless. A TV insider said: "Corrie bosses were never going to take EastEnders shrewd decision to reinstate Kat and Alfie at the Vic lying down.
