The 26-year-old had initially been granted bail after the May 15 incident at Brisbane Airport's domestic terminal, where he allegedly abused Virgin Australia staff and was restrained by passengers before police arrived.

Footage of the incident showed a man, wearing a white T-shirt and a green Lime scooter-style helmet, shouting profanities and thrashing as staff and passengers tried to restrain him, before he was tackled to the ground by another passenger.

On Thursday, at the Brisbane Magistrates Court, there was some confusion over Bland's charges.
The prosecutor explained two new charges, public nuisance and assault occasioning bodily harm, would replace the original charges of public nuisance and common assault due to a doctor's report.

Before the clarification, Bland objected to the fresh charges, claiming the matter should be dismissed.
'Nice try,' the Magistrate replied.
Bland told the court that he hadn't yet spoken to a lawyer about his matter.
'If I had got the brief of evidence … I would be able to do the case today,' he said.
Bland was asked if he had been behaving in prison, to which he laughed and replied, 'Yeah, I'm the best.'
The magistrate then advised him, 'Don't fly – drive down to Brisbane' for his next appearance after his release.
He was granted bail for the updated charges but will remain in custody for the unrelated matter until his release date on August 23.
The matter is set to return to Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 11.

'It was meant to be a pretend kiss like we had done previously where our lips don't actually touch, and in that particular photo we got close and she did sort of pull me in and the photo went off, yeah,' Fletcher said. 'Our hope is when people find out about this, they are going to come forward with their videos and stories,' Pizzi said at the conference. So, what is appointment scalping? Individuals and companies snatch up DMV appointments, often using bots, and then resell them on social media or through driving schools. According to NBC6 Miami, these appointment prices sell from $25 to $250. The appointments are supposed to be free, but instead, this unregulated practice has hijacked access to essential public services like getting a driver's license. A Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles spokesperson told CBS News the DMV cancels nearly 1,000 fake appointments daily across the state. In an effort to shorten lineups and free up bookings, the Miami-Dade Tax Collector's new appointment scalping ordinance was passed in April 2025 with: Fines up to $500 per offense Up to 60 days in jail A ban on promoting or listing DMV appointments for resale without written consent Miami-Dade Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez is working with County Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera to hunt down scalpers, especially those working in driving schools. One school was caught hoarding over 70 appointments, reselling them for over $200 each, according to 7News Miami. Fernandez calls these practices "predatory" and now that HB 0961 has been passed, appointment scalping is a first-degree misdemeanor statewide, which gives law enforcement full authority to prosecute bad actors.
