Maghreb de Fes Set to Become Richest Football Club in Morocco After TGCC Deal

Morocco World04-03-2025

Maghreb de Fes (MAS) is on the verge of a jaw-dropping revamp after billionaire Mohamed Bouzoubaa, the construction tycoon who owns the giant firm TGCC Group, has bought a huge stake of the club – setting the stage for a football revolution in the one of the most historic clubs in Morocco.
Bouzoubaa, one of Morocco's top five richest men with a fortune estimated at $1.3 billion, made his money building mega-projects across Morocco and Africa. He is even helping to build and upgrade stadiums for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, and the 2030 World Cup co-hosted with Spain and Portugal.
The TGCC owner is expected to take up 30% of the club, alongside Ismail El Jamai (35%) and the MAS Association (35%).
Now, MAS is on track to turn into a football powerhouse, with the new cash flow poised to attract top-tier players, revamp training facilities, and eventually rival for the domestic titles against Wydad, Raja, and AS FAR.
Investments don't stop there. The club also recently signed a new sponsorship deal with Daiko, a leading home appliance brand.
Mohamed Dairy, managing director at Daiko said in a statement: 'We are thrilled to join forces with MAS. The partnership goes beyond simple sports support. It aims to create a true community around MAS and offer its fans unforgettable moments.'
On the coaching side, MAS appointed the Croatian-German coach Tomislav Stipic. The current boss worked previously in Bulgaria, Latvia, Croatia, Switzerland, and Germany. He has won two titles in his career in Latvia with Riga FC and FK Auda. Tags: Maghreb de FesMASMohamed BouzoubaaTGCC

Brahim Diaz Out, Amine Zahzouh Gets First Morocco Call-Up

Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Diaz has been ruled out of Morocco's upcoming friendlies against Tunisia and Benin with a muscle injury. Morocco team doctor Christophe Baudot confirmed the news on Tuesday, saying Diaz is continuing treatment at the Mohammed VI Football Complex. 'He won't be ready in time for the Tunisia match,' said Baudot. 'We'll assess his progress ahead of the second game.' Diaz started Madrid's final league match against Real Sociedad but was forced off in the 55th minute. His absence is a blow for Walid Regragui, who is already dealing with several injuries in the squad. Nayef Aguerd, Noussair Mazraoui, Ghanem Saïss and Chemsdine Talbi are all unavailable, while Abdessamad Ezzalzouli remains a doubt. In response, Regragui has handed a first senior call-up to FAR Rabat midfielder Amine Zahzouh, one of the standout players in Morocco's top flight this season. Zahzouh scored 11 goals and provided 13 assists in 43 appearances, finishing the campaign as the Botola Pro's top playmaker. The 23-year-old was already training with Morocco's local-based national team at Maâmora and joined the senior squad for Tuesday's session. Morocco are preparing for two friendlies in Fez against Tunisia on June 6, and Benin on June 9. The matches are part of the build-up to next year's Africa Cup of Nations on home soil. Despite the growing injury list, the camp remains in high spirits. Tuesday's session included a guard of honour for players who won silverware with their clubs this season. Morocco, UK Sign MoU in Support of 2030 FIFA World Cup Organization

Morocco and the United Kingdom signed, on Monday 02 June in Salé, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the organization of the 2030 World Cup. Signed by the Moroccan Minister Delegate for the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, and the British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, David Lammy, this agreement marks a new milestone in the dynamic bilateral cooperation in the fields of sports, infrastructure, and economic development. This initiative aligns with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who has made sport a pillar of influence, openness, and sustainable development. Through this MoU, the United Kingdom expresses its commitment to mobilize its technical expertise, its business ecosystem, and its support capabilities to contribute to the success of this major project. Both parties agreed to work closely on a range of initiatives, particularly concerning stadiums, transport infrastructure, and services related to the management of international events.
