Who were the fastest and slowest players in the Premier League?
Speed has become such a defining aspect of Premier League football for years now. Whether it's lightning-quick wingers tearing down the flanks or centre-backs chasing down counterattacks, speed can be the difference between winning and losing. With that in mind, let's have a look at the fastest players in the Premier League this season.Tottenham Hotspur's Micky van de Ven was the fastest player in the top-flight during this campaign, reaching a top speed of 23.1 miles per hourManchester City midfielder-turned-right-back Matheus Nunes was the second-fastest, just ahead of Nottingham Forest's speed merchant Anthony Elanga. Not only does Bryan Mbeumo run a lot and sprint a lot, he's fast too…the whole package!
As for the slowest players, the above data looks at outfield players that racked up at least 10 full games' worth of minutes – to give them a chance to build up some steam. In that metric, Wolves' 35-year-old defender Craig Dawson was the slowest player, reaching a top speed of 18.4 miles per hour.Manchester City's Bernardo Silva and West Ham's Tomas Soucek may be among the slowest players, but they were also two of the hardest runners - covering over seven miles per 90 minutes - which shows they were built for stamina over speed.

Sky Sports favourite announces exit after 16 years as major reshuffle continues
Sky Sports' summer exodus is continuing, with Paul Gilmour confirming he has joined the growing list of presenters and reporters to leave the broadcaster this year Sky Sports presenter Paul Gilmour has announced his departure from the broadcaster. Gilmour had been part of the furniture during 16 years with the company, including on Sky Sports News' transfer deadline day coverage. "After 16 brilliant years in N Ireland/London with @SkySportsNews, it's time to leave," Gilmour wrote on social media. "Was proud & grateful to cover major finals, tournaments, 25 Deadline Days, domestic games & become a PL commentator. Thank you to everyone I've worked with over the years. It's been a pleasure." A number of his former colleagues shared messages of support following the news. Others, meanwhile, spoke of it being a "huge loss" for Sky Sports. "Hard-working, honest & humble - what a brilliant tenure at Sky Sports News!" former Sky Sports News regular Bryan Swanson wrote. "The fresh-faced rookie from Carrick went on to deliver great scoops, big-name interviews, commentaries and everything in between over the years. The consummate professional, you should be proud. Best wishes for the future, Paul!" There was also a message of support from Gilmour's compatriot and Northern Ireland international striker Conor Washington. "Some man! All the best pal," the Derby County star wrote. Gilmour isn't the only long-serving presenter to move on. Rob Wotton has been with Sky Sports for 27 years, but this season will also be his last. He recently hosted The Football Show, which is being cut from scheduled, and also appeared on Sky Sports News' regular broadcasts. "It's been an absolute pleasure. I came here in my 20s and I thought I was only coming for a couple of weeks," Wotton said in an emotional farewell speech. "And look, they haven't been able to get rid of me. I keep turning up, maybe one day they'll pay me!" Several other exits have also been confirmed this week, including those of Melissa Reddy. Jeremy Langdon and Fadumo Okow. Reddy, who spent the last three years with Sky as a senior reporter, has opened up on her future plans following her exit. "ELEVENTH!!! season of Premier League coverage done and I've called time on three years at Sky. I'll still be doing bits and bobs for them," Reddy wrote on Instagram. "But I'm genuinely soooo excited to share all the things I'll be working on soon, which will allow me to focus on my strengths and passions. For those that have BEEN asking for the past five years, YES - that will include new books." Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Liverpool's Alexander-Arnold statement speaks volume as Madrid move announced
Trent Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid earlier than expected after the La Liga giants agreed a deal with Liverpool to buy him from the start of the summer transfer window Liverpool's statement announcing the early release of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid contained a less than glowing message of appreciation. Alexander-Arnold graduated through the Reds' academy, becoming a key member of their first-team squad. He won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups during his time at Anfield. The right-back had already announced that he would be leaving this summer once his contract expired. It was widely expected that he would be joining Madrid for free, though Los Blancos were keen to bring him in for the start of the Club World Cup. Had he moved to the Bernabeu for free, Alexander-Arnold would have missed all of their group games. That led to Madrid seeking a way to bring him in early, which has now led to the La Liga side agreeing to pay an £8.4million fee, plus the Englishman's remaining wages to officially sign him on 1 June. Liverpool released a statement to confirm the arrangement. In that statement, the Reds thanked Alexander-Arnold for his service for the club. But that message raised eyebrows for his short and sharp nature. "Liverpool FC can confirm an offer has been accepted for Trent Alexander-Arnold from Real Madrid for his transfer upon the opening of the June transfer window. The full-back is now set to join the La Liga club ahead of the expiry of his Reds contract this summer," the statement read. "Liverpool will receive a fee for his services, with the deal to be concluded once the window opens on June 1. Alexander-Arnold joined the club's Academy at the age of six and progressed through the ranks to make his senior competitive debut in October 2016. "He now departs Anfield after 354 appearances and 23 goals for the club, as well as lifting eight major honours alongside his teammates, which consist of two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and two League Cups. Alexander-Arnold leaves Liverpool FC with the club appreciative and grateful for his contribution to those successes." When announcing his decision to not sign a new contract, Alexander-Arnold admitted it had been the 'hardest' call he had ever had to make. The right-back insisted he felt it was the right time to experience a new challenge. "After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season. This is easily the hardest decision I've ever made in my life," he wrote on Instagram."I know many of you have wondered why or been frustrated that I haven't spoken about this yet, but it was always my intention to keep my full focus on the team's best interests, which was securing No.20."This club has been my whole life – my whole world - for 20 years. From the Academy right through until now, the support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside of the club will stay with me forever. I will forever be in debt to you all."But, I have never known anything else and this decision is about experiencing a new challenge, taking myself out of my comfort zone and pushing myself both professionally and personally. I've given my all every single day I've been at this club, and I hope you feel like I've given back to you during my time here."From the bottom of my heart, I thank everybody – my coaches, my managers, my teammates, the staff and our incredible supporters - for the last 20 years. I've been blessed enough to live out my dreams here and I will never, ever take for granted the special moments I've been fortunate enough to have lived through with you all. My love for this club will never die."

How to watch Man Utd vs Hong Kong on TV today - kick-off time and live stream
How to watch Man Utd vs Hong Kong on TV today - kick-off time and live stream Manchester United continue their post-season tour against Hong Kong, in what is their second of three matches in the region Ruben Amorim, manager of Manchester United, during a press conference in Hong Kong. (Image: Ash Donelon/Manchester United via Getty Images ) Manchester United supporters in Kuala Lumpur were treated to a genuine taste of the passion for the Red Devils earlier this week, despite Ruben Amorim's team suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of ASEAN All-Stars, which was followed by boos from the crowd. Yet, the Portuguese manager is optimistic for a turnaround in today's clash with Hong Kong. After a disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League, Manchester United has had a tough season, and the challenges continue. Since taking over the reins at United mid-season from Erik ten Hag, Amorim has been forthright in his evaluations. The 40-year-old conceded that the fans were justified in their criticism of the team's performance in their last outing. In the build-up to the match, he reflected: "If you can afford it - that is the important thing - then you support your club. I have my club as a young kid in Portugal. "No matter what the situation was, I was there - and I suffered a lot, in Benfica in the 90s. It was a struggle, a lot, but I never stopped buying tickets and [for] my father it was a gift in my birthday," reports "So it's going to be the same [in Hong Kong]. These people believe in Manchester United, no matter what the context. It's our job, it's our duty to improve the team and to improve the next season." The fixture is scheduled for an 8pm start local time (1pm UK time) and will be broadcast live exclusively for MUTV subscribers. Fans can watch the game through the channel's online streaming service or on television for those who have access to MUTV. Amorim utilised 27 of his 32-man squad in Kuala Lumpur, with no player featuring for more than a half. Altay Bayindir remained on the bench and could potentially start here. Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Joshua Zirkzee were all spectators from the sidelines. Their playing time is being carefully managed to ensure they are in peak condition for the commencement of pre-season. Amorim confirmed that Shaw would also be absent from the Hong Kong match. Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire and Andre Onana have jetted off to India to engage with fans and partners rather than participate in the game. Hong Kong, United's opponents here, represent the region in international football. Their coach is Ashley Westwood, a product of the Manchester United academy who went on to play for Bradford City, Sheffield Wednesday and Wrexham. Article continues below Manchester United is set to pocket around £8 million for its post-season tour. Having lost the Europa League final to Spurs, they won't be participating in any European football next season.
