Over RM3.5mil worth of seized counterfeit goods disposed of

SHAH ALAM: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has disposed of over RM3.5mil worth of seized counterfeit goods at the Bukit Raja Exhibits Storage here.
Its Selangor director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey said this involved goods related to 64 cases that have completed their court processes between January 2024 and May 2025 and is the largest for the state in the past five years.
"Disposed items include 41,000 self-care products, 4,000 clothing accessories, 4,370 watches and clothing items, 11,900 pairs of shoes and sandals and 300 motorcycle accessories," he told reporters on Tuesday (June 24), adding that other items disposed include electrical appliances and equipment used in misappropriation of controlled items, such as pumps, flow meters, connecting hoses and intermediate bulk containers with an estimated value of RM250,000.
The cases linked to the disposed items include those under the Trademarks Act 2019, the Control of Supplies Act 1961, the Copyright Act 1987, the Direct Sales and Anti-Pyramid Scheme Act 1993 as well as the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, he added. – Bernama

SEREMBAN: A female pilot lodged a police report today claiming she was cheated in a haj package deal, resulting in a loss of RM194,970. Nilai police chief Superintendent Abdul Malik Hasim said the victim, in her 30s, filed the report at the Nilai police station at 11.23am, saying that she had dealt with an individual from an Umrah travel agency who offered the haj package on Jan 14. "The victim, who works for a local airline, made several transfers totaling RM194,970 to the agency's account as full payment for the package. "However, she realised she had been scammed on March 15 after finding out that the agency was no longer in operation and she would not be able to perform the haj as promised," he said in a statement today. Abdul Malik said the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, and efforts to trace the suspects are underway. - Bernama

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail said that the 50-year-old man was detained while walking in the area at 12:35 pm, carrying a bag containing 20 transparent plastic packets of the drugs. "Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had been residing in the country for approximately 10 years, and an urine test showed he was positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. However, he has no prior criminal record.
