Juneteenth parade to close these Austin streets on Thursday. See road closure map

Austin's Juneteenth parade will take place on Thursday, June 19, along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Chicon Street. Austin drivers should expect road closures in the East Austin area and around Rosewood Neighborhood Park. According to city officials, MLK Jr. Boulevard between I-35 and Poquito Street will be fully closed for the parade and will serve as a staging area for the festival. Chicon Street, from MLK Jr. Boulevard to Rosewood Avenue, will also be closed, as well as Rosewood Avenue from Salina Street to Rosewood Park. Cross streets that intersect Chicon St. in the area will be open only to local traffic, while Thompson, Bedford and Neal Streets will be closed around Rosewood Park for the festival. Roads that make up the parade route — MLK Jr., Chicon, and Rosewood — will be shut from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the streets near Rosewood Park will close for the evening festivities from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information about Juneteenth celebrations in Austin, read more of our coverage here.
