Japan's Ritsu Dōan shines on Eintracht Frankfurt debut in German Cup
The underdogs managed to hold Dino Toppmöller's team for most of the first half until Jean-Matteo Bahoya and Dōan scored in quick succession before the break. Dōan scored again after it, and Elye Wahi and Paxten Aaronson both scored late to complete the rout.
Dōan joined Frankfurt 10 days ago from Bundesliga rival Freiburg, his arrival compensating for Hugo Ekitiké's sale to Liverpool.
Frankfurt was without Mario Götze, who is still working his way back from injury, and goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, who is expected to join Paris FC following its promotion to the top division in France.
Frankfurt is expected to sign Michael Zetterer from Werder Bremen as Trapp's replacement. Zetterer cried as he appeared to bid Bremen fans farewell following the team's loss at Arminia Bielefeld on Friday.
Frankfurt starts its Bundesliga campaign against Bremen on Aug. 23.

Auburn will formally retire QB Cam Newton's No. 2 jersey during game against Georgia
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Auburn will retire 2010 Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton's No. 2 jersey this fall, making him the fourth player in program history to receive the honor. The ceremony will take place during Auburn's home game against rival Georgia on Oct. 11. Newton will join Pat Sullivan (No. 7), Bo Jackson (No. 34) and Terry Beasley (No. 88) as former Tigers football players whose numbers are formally retired. The jerseys of Sullivan and Beasley were retired following Sullivan's 1971 Heisman Trophy season, and Jackson's number was retired as part of Auburn's football centennial celebration in 1992. No one has worn No. 2 at Auburn since Newton and the Tigers beat Oregon in the Bowl Championship Series national title game for the 2010 season. But soon it will be officially out of service. 'Auburn will always be home to me,' Newton said in a statement. One of the most decorated players in Auburn and Southeastern Conference history, Newton led Auburn to conference and national titles with a perfect 14-0 record. He threw for 2,854 yards and 30 touchdowns while rushing for 1,473 yards and 20 more scores. He became the first player in SEC history to pass for more than 2,000 yards and rush for more than 1,000 yards in a single season. FIFA President Gianni Infantino condemns 'unacceptable' racism after incidents
ZURICH -- FIFA President Gianni Infantino says that two incidents of alleged racist abuse which marred German Cup games are 'unacceptable' as German police investigate. Infantino's comments came a day after Schalke's Christopher Antwi-Adjei said he was subjected to racist abuse in a cup game at Lokomotive Leipzig. He was whistled by fans throughout the match after reporting the incident to officials. In another incident, a Kaiserslautern substitute was racially abused while warming up in a game at RSV Eintracht, the team's coach said. He didn't name the player affected. Both incidents occurred as lower-league clubs from the former East Germany hosted larger teams in first-round games. 'It is unacceptable that incidents have occurred at two DFB-Pokal matches in Germany," Infantino wrote on social media, using the German name for the competition. 'Football has no place for racism or any form of discrimination.' Infantino said FIFA's Players' Voice Panel would be 'in touch' with the German soccer federation. 'Everyone at FIFA, The Players' Voice Panel and the whole football community stands firmly with all those impacted by these events — we are committed to ensuring that players are respected and protected, and that competition organizers and law enforcement authorities take appropriate action," Infantino added. Antwi-Adjei filed a complaint about the incident at Lokomotive Leipzig and police were investigating, Schalke said late Sunday. At RSV Eintracht, fans and security quickly identified the alleged perpetrator and fans of both teams chanted 'Nazis out,' German agency dpa reported. The German soccer federation's president, Bernd Neuendorf, said it had already launched its own investigations into the two games. 'Racism and discrimination, hatred and exclusion have no place in football. We stand for diversity and respect. And alongside those affected and with those who stand up for our values,' Neuendorf said in a statement. The incidents in Germany came two days after Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo reported that he was racially abused by a spectator while playing at Liverpool. The game was briefly paused as the referee spoke to the coaches and captains of both teams. Police said Saturday that a 47-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offense. He was released on conditional bail Monday, police said, with a stipulation that he cannot attend soccer games in Britain. Infantino has said FIFA's Players' Voice Panel would contact Semenyo.

MacIntrye and Hatton qualify for Europe's Ryder Cup team. Lowry vs Hojgaard for last automatic spot
VIRGINIA WATER, England (AP) — Robert MacIntyre and Tyrrell Hatton have secured automatic qualification to Europe's Ryder Cup team for next month's matches at Bethpage Black, leaving just one guaranteed place up for grabs. Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood were already sure to be on the team, so captain Luke Donald knows five of his players for the defense of the cup on Sept. 26-28. The sixth and final automatic spot will go to Shane Lowry or Rasmus Hojgaard. Lowry occupies No. 6 place in Europe's points list but could be overtaken by Hojgaard, who has one event left in qualifying — the British Masters starting Thursday. Hojgaard needs to finish in a two-way tie for 29th or better to guarantee his place on the team. Lowry does not have another qualification event.
