King, in call with Macron, stresses importance of stepping up efforts to reach Gaza ceasefire

Ammon News - His Majesty King Abdullah II received a phone call from France President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday and stressed the need to step up efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and de-escalate the situation in the West Bank. His Majesty emphasised the importance of ensuring the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Strip, highlighting the ongoing cooperation between Jordan and France to step up the humanitarian response in Gaza. The King reiterated Jordan's rejection of Israeli statements regarding the 'Greater Israel' vision, plans to consolidate the occupation of Gaza and expand military control over it, and unilateral measures in the West Bank, including the settlement plan in the (E1) area. His Majesty said the only way to achieve just and comprehensive peace in the region is through the two-state solution, noting the importance of France's intention to recognise the State of Palestine as a step towards providing more support to Palestinians and achieving stability in the region. The call also touched on other regional developments, including Jordan's role in supporting Syria and Lebanon's efforts to preserve their sovereignty and enhance their stability.

Iran warns ‘Israel' of more powerful missiles in case of new attack

Iran said Wednesday that it is prepared for any new 'Israeli' attack and has developed missiles with greater capabilities than those used in the recent 12-day war with 'Israel'. Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh was quoted by the official IRNA news agency as saying, "The missiles used in the 12-day war were manufactured by the Ministry of Defense years ago." "Today we have manufactured and possess missiles with greater capabilities than the previous missiles, and if the Zionist enemy embarks on another adventure, we will certainly use these missiles," he added. 'Israel' attacked Iran in mid-June, sparking a war in which Iran responded with missile and drone strikes. The 'Israeli' attacks killed senior military leaders and nuclear scientists, in addition to hundreds of others, as both military and residential areas were targeted. The United States also conducted strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. A ceasefire between Iran and 'Israel' has been in effect since June 24. Iranian officials have since warned that fighting could resume at any moment, asserting that Tehran does not seek war but is prepared for any confrontation. On Monday, Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref said Iran must be "ready for confrontation at any moment." He added, "We are not under a ceasefire, we are in a state of cessation of hostilities." Iranian media reported that the army will begin a two-day military exercise on Thursday, during which a wide range of short- and medium-range cruise missiles will be used. Western governments have repeatedly expressed concern about Iran's missile program, calling it a threat to regional security. In July, France called for a "comprehensive agreement" with Tehran that would include not only its nuclear program but also its missile program and regional ambitions. In response, Iran stressed that its military capabilities are not open for discussion.

Several civilians killed and injured in Israeli strikes across Gaza

Ammon News - Several civilians, including women and children, were killed and others injured since dawn today, Wednesday, as Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes across various areas of the Gaza Strip. Medical sources reported that five members of the Daour family, including the mother, father, and three children aged four, seven, and nine, were killed when Israeli forces bombed a tent sheltering displaced persons in Al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City. Two more civilians were killed and several others injured when Israeli forces targeted the home of the Al-Masri family near Al-Samer junction, close to the Chamber of Commerce in Gaza City. Five others were recovered from under the rubble. In Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, three civilians, including a mother and her two children aged three months and 10 years old, were killed in an Israeli airstrike that struck a residential house. In central Gaza, one civilian was killed and others were injured after Israeli forces bombed a home in Al-Nuseirat refugee camp. Since October 7, 2023, Israel, the occupying power, has been waging a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip, including killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in defiance of international appeals and binding orders from the International Court of Justice. The ongoing aggression has resulted in the killing of 62,064 civilians and the injury of 156,573 others, the majority of them women and children. Over 11,000 remain missing, while hundreds of thousands have been forcibly displaced. Starvation has claimed the lives of 266 people, including 112 children. WAFA
