The actress, 67, is known for being frank when it comes to interviews, between previously defending disgraced actor Kevin Spacey and brutally shutting down Good Morning Britain host Ed Balls in an awkward exchange last year. The Basic Instinct star has now spoken of her mother, Dorothy Stone's, recent death, and her shocking final words that included expletives and harsh criticism of her daughter. Stone first announced that her mother had died at the age of 91 on Instagram last month. However, in a frank new interview, she has revealed that Dorothy, or Dot, had actually died 'a few months' before that, but only recently found the words to talk about it. In speaking of Dorothy's final hours, the 90s icon shared details of her mother's troubled upbringing amid a cycle of abuse, which led to Stone and her sister also being sexually assaulted by their grandfather. Those feelings, she says, included 'a little bit of anger and a little bit of, 'I didn't f*** need you anyway,' you know!' Of Dorothy, Stone said: 'My mom wasn't of a sunny disposition. She was hilarious, but she said terrible things to me. Dot swore like a Portuguese dock worker.' Stone has detailed the difficult relationship she had with her mother (Picture: WireImage) Stone continued: 'She said, 'I'm going to kick you in the c***'' to me probably 40 times in the last five days. But that was her delirium. 'And when the last thing your mother says to you before she dies is, 'You talk too much, you make me want to commit suicide. 'And the whole room laughs, you think: 'that's a hard one to go out on, Mom!' But that's how she was. This lack of ability to find tenderness and peace within herself.' 'She was desperately afraid that when she died, her mother and father would be there,' Stone told the publication. 'She didn't want to die, because she didn't want to see them, because they were so awful. 'So I convinced her that I had put them in jail and they were not going to be there. She was in such hell. Nobody comes through this life intact. So why do we pretend that one does?' Stone detailed her childhood abuse in a 2021 memoir (Picture: WireImage) Stone described how her grandfather had abused her too, but had 'got away from him before he was super-sexually abusive.' 'I was a very savvy kid. I got away with much lighter abuse than other people did,' said the actress, who currently stars in action sequel Nobody 2. Stone also detailed her grandfather's abuse of her family – which also included her younger sister, Kelly – in her 2021 memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice. 'She's refused to read my book, even though she encouraged me to write it, as did my mom, and I dedicated my book to Mom,' Stone said of the memoir. In a post to Instagram at the time, Stone shared the sad news, tearfully announcing: 'Hello everybody. This message is to confirm that yes, we did lose my brother, Patrick Joseph Stone, to a heart attack yesterday.' This latest tragedy came only one year after the death of Patrick's son – Stone's nephew – 11-month-old River. Neil Dutta, the Managing Director of engagement ring specialists at Angelic Diamonds, told the Daily Mail that it can damage the prongs, which is the metallic beams that support the weight of the stone. Sleeping with the ring on can increase the risk of loosening the diamond and this can lead to losing it completely. 'As we regularly repair diamond rings, I'd say as many as a third are due to prong damage,' Dutta says. 'And when I ask if the person sleeps with their ring, 99 percent say yes.' If a fiancée is prone to tossing and turning in bed, it could actually damage the stone itself, as Dutta says that a restless kip can increase 'likelihood of you catching your ring on your bedding or nightwear, which can damage the prong setting'. He added: 'You may even chip or loosen a stone, especially those in a pavé or channel setting.' An engagement ring designer also revealed the three ring styles that she would never invest in. Jordan, who is the creator of Castlefield Collection, a jewelry company based in Canada, ran through exactly what styles you should avoid as it related to their durability. 'The first thing you want to avoid is a ring without a gallery rail,' Jordan began. 'A gallery rail is this thin piece of metal that goes in between the prongs of the ring,' she explained as she showed a photo of a ring with this specific feature. The designer explained that without a gallery rail, your ring could be at risk of becoming damaged, or even worse. 'Without a gallery rail, especially if you only have four prongs holding your stone, if one prong gets pulled down and caught on something, you will lose your stone,' she said. She then showed off a photo of a ring that didn't have a gallery rail on it, and furthered that it's definitely something you don't want to buy, as you really need that 'extra support.' 'Next, I would never buy a very, very thin-banded engagement ring,' Jordan said. 'While thin bands like these can be very pretty, it is just not very durable.' She recommended sticking to 'at least' a band that was 1.8 millimetres in size. 'These days, it's been very trendy to choose an engagement ring with a very thin, barely-there band, but this is very risky,' she told 'A very thin band (less than 1.6 mm) will be more prone to bending and breaking.' 'Furthermore, gold wears away over time,' she continued. 'If you start with a very thin band, it will wear away to almost nothing over many years of wear. I always recommend going with at least 1.8 - 2mm in band width.' Last but not least, Jordan revealed that she wouldn't recommend buying engagement rings that had a diamond band on them in the video. 'Next, I would never buy an engagement ring that looks like this, that has a bubble band, that's what they call it,' she said, showing off an example of what she meant. 'This has one prong holding every two stones in the band,' she continued. 'This is not durable at all.' The Castlefield Collection founder then flashed another example on the screen, a ring that had a band complete with oval-shaped diamonds on it. 'You do not want to buy a ring like this,' Jordan explained. 'The question is not if it will drop stones, it's when.'

More than 240 kids and parents have enjoyed an entertaining and educational theatre performance - inside an 18 metre-long inflatable sperm free puppetry show was delivered at Westbridge Park in Stone, Staffordshire, by all-female theatre company Circo Rum Ba aged eight, was among those who allowed their imagination to be swept away in the illusion of the "underwater" performance."We've just rescued a turtle from eating plastic," she said. When asked what she had learned from the show, she replied: "We should never put trash in the sea."We could use the trash and make it into something different." The one-day event on Tuesday was organised and funded by Stone Town authority's events organiser Lindsay Fleetwood explained the show was one of a number of free activities the council had provided for young people in the town over recent years."We appreciate the challenges involved in keeping the kids entertained without spending a fortune and without having to travel," she said.A long queue of families waited patiently for the six performances that were held during the course of the Fleetwood said she was pleased that people left each performance having "thoroughly enjoyed it", with a heightened awareness of the issue of plastics in the ocean. Sea creatures Five-year-old Max watched the show as part of his summer holiday trip from Norfolk to visit his fully understood the message of the performance, saying: "We shouldn't leave plastic down at the sea because lots of sea creatures could get stuck in it."The youngster described Circo Rum Ba Ba's show as "hot, light and sort of dark."
