MK Dons and Oldham begin campaign with 0-0 draw
Oldham were playing their first EFL match in three years, with last season's National League play-off winners visiting an MK Dons side tipped by many to challenge for promotion.
A first half of few opportunities saw Oldham's Kane Drummond fire wide from the edge of the box, while MK Dons saw a penalty appeal for a challenge on Aaron Collins rejected.
Both sides picked up the pace after the break, but still chances would not come.
MK Dons saw Jonathan Leko's cross almost ricochet goalwards off Ryan Woods, while Luke Hannant thought he had won a penalty for the visitors – only to be booked for diving.
Oldham's Mike Fondop had a strike denied by Craig MacGillivray, in what was the game's first and indeed only shot on target, in the 88th minute.
