Essex and Lancs claim first T20 wins of campaign
Essex and Lancashire both claimed their first victories of the season in the Women's T20 Blast.
Wicketkeeper Lauren Winfield-Hill top scored with 42 from 25 balls as Essex set Somerset 150 to win at Chelmsford.

Somerset's Ellie Anderson picked up figures of 3-19 off four overs which included the wicket of Essex captain Grace Scrivens with the seamer's first ball of the innings.
Olivia Barnes took a stunning catch at square leg to remove Lissy Macleod, one of two catches by Barnes, who was forced off with a hand injury after the second and was unable to play any further part.
Somerset stalled in their reply, and when Eva Gray's in-swinger took skipper Sophie Luff's off stump to leave them 29-4, the visitors chances looked to be in tatters.
A fifth-wicket partnership of 25 between Fran Wilson and Alex Griffiths gave Somerset a brief glimmer of hope, but when Wilson fell to leg-spinner Abtaha Maqsood, the writing was on the wall for the visitors.

Esmae MacGregor finished with career-best T20 figures of 4-8 as Somerset were quickly bowled out for 84, still 66 runs short of their target, with last batter Barnes unfit to take to the crease.
Lancashire Thunder bounced back from their seven-wicket defeat by The Blaze on Saturday with a gutsy 18-run victory over Durham at Chester-le-Street.
The visitors put on 140-7 in their 20 overs with captain Ellie Threlkeld top-scoring with 48 and Aisla Lister adding 42 not out.
Durham's run chase started well with Suzie Bates and Katherine Fraser putting on 61 for the first wicket as the hosts went in search of a first win of the campaign.

But Thunder recovered in the second half of the innings, taking nine wickets for only 61 runs.
Four wickets from Grace Potts (4-33) and two each for Sophie Morris (2-22), Sophie Ecclestone (2-24) and Grace Johnson (2-25) helped turn the match around for the Red Rose.

‘Big Gabi' has his big contract and his commitment is a blessing to Arsenal and the club's hierarchy
One of the most memorable sights of last season was the body language of Gabriel when Arsenal won a corner. He psyched himself up, tuned in and got deep into the zone. It was as if a switch flicked in his head: 'this is it, this is my domain, nothing and nobody will stop me.' He appeared to go into some kind of hyper focus, where mind and muscle found a special gear and he was ready to lock onto the flight of the ball and bulldoze through anything to get there. Advertisement His dead-ball mania was symbolic of how the player universally known around the club as Big Gabi has grown during his five years (so far) at Arsenal. It has been an evolution, from the raw and sometimes reckless defender, brimming with ambition and physicality, to a focused and more complete leader of the back line. He has added refinement and clarity, as well as extra dominance, and a love for attacking set pieces, to his defensive qualities. The biggest reflection of his improvement is the way that last season his influence was at the very least the equal of William Saliba. Arguably, at times, it superseded the excellence of his A-list centre-back partner. The Saliba-Gabriel partnership is a bedrock for this Arsenal side. They complement each other beautifully. Gabriel's imposing season was derailed in April when he suffered a hamstring tear that required surgery. It is always a boost for an injured player to feel the reassurance and belief of the club when they are away from the group and cut off from the best part of the their job. Players live for playing matches, for competition. Arsenal showed the esteem in which he is held with a contract extension until 2029. It should guarantee he gives his peak years to Arsenal. He arrived in 2020 at the age of 22 for €26m (£21.9m; $29.8m at current rates), and all being well will be there comfortably into his thirties. Pound for pound, in terms of value for money, his has been one of the most rewarding transfers of the Arteta era. As he himself says, 'I'm so proud of myself, it's an amazing journey, and I'm so happy to continue it. I hope I win some trophies with this club, because I love this club and my family loves the club, too.' There are a bunch of important Arsenal players whose contracts follow a similar timing track, including Bukayo Saka, Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli. Gabriel was the first to commit to a new contract during the last round of negotiations, and is the first to do so this summer. That means something. The certainty with which he wants to be at the club, the value he puts on that, is a blessing for Arteta and the extended hierarchy at Arsenal. There is a significant sliding doors moment in Gabriel's time at Arsenal. During the summer of 2023, his head was jumbled by talk of the kind of crazy windfall being offered by the Saudi Pro League. Come back a moment, if you will, to the first three games of the 2023-24 season. The Saliba-Gabriel duo had established itself during the previous campaign, but as the team-sheet came out for the opening game against Nottingham Forest, Gabriel was demoted to the bench, with Thomas Partey used as a makeshift right back as the back four were juggled to play without the big Brazilian. It was noticeably weird. Gabriel came on for the last four minutes. Advertisement It was the same again for the next two matches. He was granted 20 minutes against Crystal Palace, but was left kicking his heels as an unused sub as Arsenal conceded a lead late on against Fulham, the kind of situation in the box Gabriel likes to deal with. In hindsight, given Arsenal missed out on the league by two points, that goal and his absence remains a moment to regret. The situation needed patience and delicate handling. Leaving Gabriel out was a combination of reminding him of Arsenal's expectations and some space to let him work through things in his own mind. Fortunately, the Saudi distraction disappeared and Gabriel reintegrated with his usual winning mentality. That was forged in boyhood. Gabriel left his home town of Sao Paulo at the age of 13 to join Avai, based in Florianopolis some 700km south. It is 13 hours away by bus. It took courage to leave home and relocate at such a young age. He made his debut aged 18 against Gremio, and scored a last-minute equaliser with his head. Classic Gabriel, right from the start. One year later he was off to Europe to join Lille, where had to bide his time to make an impact, and once he did he enhanced his reputation as a young defender of great heart and promise. That led him to Arsenal, where he became Mikel Arteta's first meaningful signing. He made his debut on the opening day of the 2020-21 season, in which he scored, too, against Fulham, and only one other player from the squad that day remains at the club — Saka was a teen watching from the bench. Now five years on and counting, Gabriel has become one of the team's leaders. He is the most vocal member of the defence, has the speed to react to changing situations and he has learned how to be cleverly aggressive. He has grown into his role as someone who looks after the team rather than just himself acting on instinct. Arsenal must be hoping his is the first of many key renewals this summer. Andorra vs England prediction: Tuchel's Three Lions to continue winning start in qualifiers
Andorra vs England betting tips Over 4.5 goals in the match - 5/4 William Hill Bukayo Saka to score anytime - 10/11 Bet365 England take on Andorra this weekend in the third of their 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with Thomas Tuchel expecting his side to continue their winning start to the campaign. Advertisement The Three Lions opened their qualifying journey with a 2-0 win over Albania in March and followed it up with a 3-0 win over Latvia, with those results already putting them in a commanding position in Group K. No other side in the group has six points yet, and England will bid to have nine by the end of this international break as they face Andorra before a friendly with Senegal in Nottingham. Andorra lost both of their opening two matches, including a 1-0 loss to Latvia and a 3-0 loss to Albania, and so England clearly head into the match as favourites with football betting sites, priced as low as 1/40 to win versus 40/1 for the home side. Andorra vs England betting tips: Expect goals in 2026 World Cup qualifier Thomas Tuchel's tenure got off to a satisfactory start in March with two dominant wins to open the qualifying campaign, and the German will have been fairly happy with what he saw at Wembley in that pair of matches. Advertisement Andorra started their own campaign with two losses and sit bottom of the group, with qualification already looking like a tough ask for Koldo Alvarez's side. And it doesn't get any easier for the minnows, as they face an England side who are in good form and with several players hoping to impress the new manager as the World Cup edges closer. When these two sides met in World Cup qualifiers in 2021, the Three Lions ran out 5-0 winners in Andorra and 4-0 winners at Wembley. In more recent fixtures, Andorra have conceded three goals against Albania, five to Spain, four to Romania and three to Switzerland, as well as losing 3-0 to Kosovo. Advertisement Such results illustrate the chasm in quality between the two sides, and with little value on many markets around England winning, we think betting on total number of goals could provide value. To that end, a wager on over 4.5 goals in the match could be a decent offer at 5/4 on betting apps. Andorra vs England prediction 1: Over 4.5 goals in the match - 5/4 William Hill Andorra vs England prediction: Saka on the scoresheet Once again, there is very little value on some of England's usual scorers to net against Andorra, with Harry Kane offered at 1/4 to score anytime, Cole Palmer priced at 4/6 and Jude Bellingham offered at 4/5. Advertisement However, one player who may have gone under the radar is Bukayo Saka. The Arsenal winger is yet to feature under Thomas Tuchel after injury prevented him from being in the German's first squad, and though the new manager will know plenty about him, he'll likely want to see how one of his best players lines up in a new-look side. The winger has 12 goals in 43 appearances for the Three Lions – a total he may well be somewhat disappointed with considering his exploits at club level – though this includes important goals such as the equaliser in the Euro 2024 quarter-final against Switzerland. That goal was Saka's last for this country, though tougher matches against higher-level opposition followed, including the Euro 2024 final against Spain. A match against a side like Andorra is a brilliant opportunity to rediscover a goalscoring touch at international level, with Saka having previously scored in qualifiers against the likes of San Marino, Ukraine and North Macedonia. Advertisement In addition, the 23-year-old scored once in each match when these two sides last faced each other in 2021. So, with Tuchel likely to give him a run in the side against Andorra, and the Arsenal man eager to impress, we think a wager on Saka to score anytime could resent value at 10/11 with various betting sites. Gabriel signs new Arsenal contract until 2029
Arsenal defender Gabriel has signed a new contract with the club until 2029. The Athletic reported on May 29 that Arsenal were in advanced talks to tie the defender down to a long-term deal. His previous contract was set to expire in 2027. Sporting director Andrea Berta made talks with the centre-back's camp a priority shortly after starting his role at the club in March. Advertisement 'I arrived here as a young player and after almost five years I'm so happy and I've learned a lot,' said Gabriel. 'I'm so proud of myself, it's an amazing journey, and I'm so happy to continue it. I hope I win some trophies with this club, because I love this club and my family loves the club, too. 'Arsenal is an amazing club and I'm so proud to sign a new contract. I love this club, I love the supporters, my teammates, I love this stadium. I'm so proud and thank you for all the support. We continue together for the future.' Gabriel appeared 42 times for Arsenal in 2024-25 but sustained a hamstring injury in April that required surgery and ruled him out for the rest of the season. Arsenal said that the aim is for him to be ready for the start of the 2025-26 campaign. The 27-year-old has made 210 appearances for the club and has scored 20 goals. After beginning his career with Brazilian side Avai, Gabriel signed for Ligue 1 team Lille in 2017, where he made 42 appearances and had loan stints at Troyes and Dinamo Zagreb. He signed for Arsenal in 2020 and has helped Mikel Arteta's side to three consecutive second-place finishes in the Premier League. Gabriel has been capped 14 times by the Brazil national team after receiving his first call-up in 2023. Arsenal are also in talks to sign William Saliba, Gabriel's partner in the heart of the Arsenal defence, to a new contract. The France international has been targeted by Real Madrid, though Berta has held discussions with Saliba's camp over extending his tenure at the Emirates. The club have already confirmed that Jorginho will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this month, with the 33-year-old set to join Brazilian club Flamengo on a free transfer. Left-back Kieran Tierney is also leaving, after agreeing in February to rejoin Scottish champions Celtic at the end of his contract. Thomas Partey's contract is set to expire on June 30 though Arsenal remain in talks with the midfielder over a new deal. ()
