Essex and Lancs claim first T20 wins of campaign
Essex and Lancashire both claimed their first victories of the season in the Women's T20 Blast. Wicketkeeper Lauren Winfield-Hill top scored with 42 from 25 balls as Essex set Somerset 150 to win at Chelmsford. Advertisement Somerset's Ellie Anderson picked up figures of 3-19 off four overs which included the wicket of Essex captain Grace Scrivens with the seamer's first ball of the innings. Olivia Barnes took a stunning catch at square leg to remove Lissy Macleod, one of two catches by Barnes, who was forced off with a hand injury after the second and was unable to play any further part. Somerset stalled in their reply, and when Eva Gray's in-swinger took skipper Sophie Luff's off stump to leave them 29-4, the visitors chances looked to be in tatters. A fifth-wicket partnership of 25 between Fran Wilson and Alex Griffiths gave Somerset a brief glimmer of hope, but when Wilson fell to leg-spinner Abtaha Maqsood, the writing was on the wall for the visitors. The visitors put on 140-7 in their 20 overs with captain Ellie Threlkeld top-scoring with 48 and Aisla Lister adding 42 not out. Durham's run chase started well with Suzie Bates and Katherine Fraser putting on 61 for the first wicket as the hosts went in search of a first win of the campaign. Advertisement But Thunder recovered in the second half of the innings, taking nine wickets for only 61 runs. Four wickets from Grace Potts (4-33) and two each for Sophie Morris (2-22), Sophie Ecclestone (2-24) and Grace Johnson (2-25) helped turn the match around for the Red Rose.

Elwiss steers Blaze to win despite injury
All-rounder Georgia Elwiss defied the pain from an injured hand with a match-winning unbeaten 75 as The Blaze beat Somerset by four wickets with an over to spare in the women's One-Day skipper Sophie Luff struck 72 from 76 balls, backed up by a half-century from opener Rebecca Odgers and a swashbuckling 25-ball 48 from Australian all-rounder Amanda-Jade Wellington as Somerset set their opponents a tough challenge by posting 304-7 in their 50 Zealand batter Maddy Green hit 12 boundaries in a 90-ball 97 as The Blaze responded, sharing a 125-run second-wicket stand with Kathryn Bryce (59) before they slipped to 33-year-old England all-rounder Elwiss brought all her experience into play as she and skipper Kirstie Gordon (25) shared an unbroken 67-run partnership to clinch victory at the Haslegrave Ground in who hit eight fours and faced 68 balls, batted despite suffering an injury fielding off her own bowling and spent the last 19 overs of the Somerset innings off the field receiving treatment. Odgers and opening partner Emma Corney earlier put on 88 for the first wicket as Somerset's innings got off to a flying start. Women's One Day Cup: Hampshire, Lancashire and Somerset all win
An unbeaten 111 from Somerset captain Sophie Luff was the platform for her side to enjoy a commanding 48-run victory over Warwickshire at Edgbaston in the One-Day Cup. Luff's ton and 70 from Heather Knight helped them post 297-6 from their 50 overs. Despite Sterre Kalis' 60 and 50 for skipper Georgia Davis, the hosts were bowled out for 249 in the 49th over as Somerset remain one point behind leaders The Blaze. Fi Morris hit a brilliant 90 not out off 76 balls to anchor Lancashire's successful chase of Surrey's 296-8 at Southport. Alice Davidson-Richards had made 100 for the visitors, but Morris enabled the Red Rose to chase it down with two overs to spare. In the day's other game, Hampshire cruised past Durham at Arundel with a seven-wicket victory as half-centuries from Maia Bouchier and Charli Knott saw them overhaul the visitors' 190-8 with 13.1 overs in hand.
