Prime Minister of Pakistan's Coordinator for Youth Affairs (Sindh), Fahad Shafiq on Tuesday announced the launch of Prime Minister Inter-Clubs Basketball Tournament in October during a vibrant and dignified ceremony held at the international Abdul Nasir basketball courts on Tuesday night.
He extended full support on behalf of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and praised the efforts of President Ghulam Abbas Jamal Advocate, Secretary Zahid Malik, and the entire camp administration for successfully holding the basketball camps.
Later, Fahad Shafiq distributed prizes among participants of the month-long Mohammad Masood Shaheed and Shahida Parveen Kiyani girls & boys basketball coaching camps, organized by the Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA) in collaboration with KWSC.
During the ceremony, Managing Director of SSWMB, Tariq Ali Nizamani was conferred the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding services to sports and other fields.
The event was graced by several notable figures, including Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Director Sports to Commissioner Karachi; Javed Jhangra, Patron of KBBA; Ghulam Abbas Jamal Advocate, President KBBA; Camp Commandant Mohammad Ashraf Yahya, Mohammad Haider Khan, Vice President MCB, Malik Abdul Nasir from FIA; Zulfiqar Abbas Khan from UBL and other dignitaries.
In a special highlight, four standout camp players — Mohammad Khan, Abdul Rafi, Amna Ashraf, and Fatima Idrees — were honored with the Ilyas Shakir Award for their exceptional performance.
Ghulam Muhammad Khan paid rich tribute to the Sindh Government, particularly Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Minister for Sports Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar, for their exemplary commitment to sports promotion in the province. He also lauded the efforts of KBBA in promoting basketball and presented cash awards to the camp organizers from his side.

Amna Ashraf was declared the Best Player of the tournament, and Aniqah Asif was named the Emerging Player Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony, Tariq Nizamani said that Mayor of Karachi and the Commissioner of Karachi are providing immense facilities for the youth and SSWMB, by organizing this event, has contributed to that vision. He announced that, Insha'Allah, SSWMB will also sponsor girls' events in interior Sindh in September and October. He paid glowing tribute to Ghulam Muhammad Khan for his exceptional services in the promotion of sports, especially basketball. Begum Isma Ali announced that the family of Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah, under the leadership of KBA President Ghulam Abbas Jamal Advocate, stands with the Sindh and Karachi Basketball Associations and will extend all possible support. She also announced that the Dr. Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Girls Inter-Clubs Basketball Tournament will be held in November. Also present on the occasion were Begum Ismaili Shah, Dr. Nighat Aqeel, Maryam Tariq, Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Muhammad Haider Khan, Faisal Ali Khan, Younus Qureshi, along with KBA and SBA officials, Shahid Ahmed Khan from Essa Laboratory, and other notable figures.

PHOTO: KBA Abdul Nasir Academy emerged victorious against Javed Memon Academy in a thrilling final to win 42-38. The final was held at the International Abdul Nasir Basketball Court, Aram Bagh in front of hundreds of enthusiastic spectators. SSWMB Managing Director Tariq Ali Nizamani distributed cash prizes and other awards among the players. Shahid Ahmed Khan, Manager Essa Laboratory, presented gifts to the guests on behalf of his organization. Muaz Ashraf of the winning team was declared Best Player of the Tournament, while Sameer Saleem received the Rising Star award. In the final match, Muaz Ashraf scored 12 points, Raza Ahmed and Sameer Saleem contributed 10 points each. From the runner-up team, Haris Shahid scored 10, Hassan Iqbal 9, and Huzaifa 8 points. In the third-place match, Amjad Ali Academy defeated Mumtaz Academy 32-27. Abdul Samad scored 12 points, Raza Ahmed 10, and Sameer Saleem 6 for the winners. For the runners-up, Abdul Rafay scored 12, Abdul Hadi 10, and Roshan Khan 4 points. Later, in recognition of his outstanding services to sports and humanity, Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi presented Tariq Nizamani with the Quaid-e-Azam Excellence Award. Nizamani assured full support to Karachi Basketball Association President Ghulam Abbas Jamal Advocate on behalf of himself and SSWMB. Notable attendees included Begum Ismaili Shah, Dr. Nighat Aqeel, Maryam Tariq, SBA Vice President Younus Qureshi, MCB Vice President Muhammad Haider Khan, UBL's Zulfiqar Abbas Khan, Commissioner Karachi's Director of Sports Ghulam Muhammad Khan, among other distinguished sports personalities.

SSWMB basketball tournament begins today

PHOTO: KBA The SSWMB Trophy Inter-Academy girls and boys basketball tournament is set to begin today under the patronage of Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui. The matches will take place at the International Abdul Nasir Basketball Court in Aram Bagh. The tournament will officially open at 8:30pm with SSWMB Manager Marium Tariq presiding over the inauguration ceremony. Managing Director of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), Tariq Ali Nizamani, made the announcement during a special kit distribution ceremony held for the participating 12 teams. He was accompanied by President of the Karachi Basketball Association (KBA), Advocate Ghulam Abbas Jamal, Secretary Zahid Malik, Organizing Secretary Haji Muhammad Ashraf Yahya, KBA members Zaeema Khatoon, Engineer Zain-ul-Abideen Channa, and Aamir Sharif. Former KBA President Ghulam Muhammad Khan was also present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Tariq Nizamani stated that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and Commissioner Karachi are deeply committed to promoting healthy activities for the youth of Karachi. "This tournament reflects that vision and commitment," he said. "We hope this initiative will help identify talented players for the national level and offer young athletes a valuable platform to showcase their skills." KBA President Advocate Ghulam Abbas Jamal extended his gratitude to SSWMB and the Mayor of Karachi. "The youth of Karachi are being provided with remarkable opportunities in sports by the Government of Sindh, helping build a healthier and more positive society."
