Intruder arrested after breaking into grounds of Windsor Castle
A man has been arrested after breaking into the grounds of Windsor Castle.
The intruder, who has been arrested on suspicion of trespass and possession of Class A drugs, is understood to have climbed a wall to enter the grounds.
Thames Valley Police said the man allegedly entered "restricted grounds" at the royal residence at around 1 pm on Sunday.
Officers said that the man had been "quickly challenged" and did not enter the castle's inner grounds.
Metropolitan Police officers said the man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and then handed over to the custody of the Thames Valley police.
Thames Valley officers have said that the man has since been bailed and an "investigation is ongoing".
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: 'At just after 1 pm on Sunday a man entered restricted grounds at Windsor Castle.
'He was quickly challenged by Met police officers and arrested. He did not enter the inner grounds of Windsor Castle.'
It is a criminal offence to trespass on a protected site under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005.

A development in the search for Madeleine McCann has seen German police officers head to Portugal to scour buildings and land in a bid to bring an end to the 18-year hunt Madeleine McCann has been missing for 18 years and this week hopes have once again been raised of finally finding out what happened to the three year old. Madeleine vanished in 2007 while on holiday with her family in the resort of Praia da Luz in Portugal. Her parents Kate and Gerry McCann had gone out to dinner with friends a few hundred yards away, leaving her sleeping in a room at their accommodation with her toddler twin siblings. When they returned to the apartment, Madeleine was gone and for the past 18 years, Kate and Gerry have tirelessly campaigned to find their daughter, with the Metropolitan Police spending more than £13 million on the case in Operation Grange. In 2020, German prosecutors announced they had a prime suspect, Christian Brueckner, in Madeleine's case and authorities from the country later searched areas of Praia da Luz. Chillingly, former friend Helge Busching claimed Brueckner had told him in 2008 it was "strange Madeleine didn't scream" when she was taken. Brueckner has denied all involvement in the tot's disappearance. With the 2023 searches proving fruitless and Brueckner behind bars for raping an elderly woman in Praia da Luz in 2005, there has now been a new development which brings fresh hope. An investigating source explained to The Sun: "Following Brueckner's trial last year, someone contacted them with theories on where anyone who took Madeleine might've dumped her. "They told cops about trenches that were dug in Praia at the time Madeleine disappeared, and the house where Brueckner had lived on the edge of the village. "Of course, all of these places have been searched over and over again, but now they have a new weapon in their ground-scanning radar." Following the tip-off, German police have this week been seen using a JCB digger at a large derelict farmhouse where prime suspect Christian Brueckner used to live. They later turned their attention to a second abandoned farmhouse, with the major search said to be focusing on wells and water storage tanks. Under the terms of their warrant, investigators have until tomorrow to look through the areas and properties in southern Portugal they believe could be linked to Madeleine's disappearance. A spokeswoman for the official Find Madeleine Campaign said of the search: "Due to an active police investigation, Kate and Gerry are not doing interviews at this time." On the 18th anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance, Kate and Gerry McCann had said poignantly: "No matter how near or far she is, she continues to be right here with us, every day, but especially on her special day. We continue to 'celebrate' her as the very beautiful and unique person she is. We miss her."

Missing woman last seen near Hyde Park three months ago spotted in London pub
A woman who was reported missing in March has mysteriously reappeared in a London pub three months after she was last seen. Portia Vincent-Kirby, from Finchley, vanished en route to Victoria Station after an evening with friends in Hyde Park on February 21. She was then spotted out of the blue in the Blind Beggar pub in Whitechapel on May 14, but has not been seen since. Her bank cards and passport have not been used since March 3, and her phone has also not pinged since this then. Pictures from the pub show Portia smiling and wearing a faux fur cossack hat. She is described as slim with blue eyes and shoulder-length dyed blonde hair. The 33-year-old is also known to often wear baseball caps. Portia's devastated family are appealing for more information about where she might be. Metro spoke to her brother, Max, in March after her family reported her missing. He criticised the police over their approach to her being missing and urged them to be more proactive with her case. He told Metro: 'It took two weeks after she was reported missing just for them to release a picture of her. 'We have heard very little from them, it's been left to us to find her. All we have been told is her bank cards haven't been used – which isn't good.' Portia has not been in contact with or seen by any family or friends since February. 'We appeal to the public for anyone to please come forward if they know anything about her or her whereabouts. PC Harjinder Kang, from the Met's north west missing persons unit, added: 'We are growing increasingly concerned for Portia's safety, as this behaviour is out of character for her. Schoolboy ‘chased & sexually assaulted' after group of children, 10 & 11, ‘approached by man taking photos' near church
A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after approaching a group of children. A 58-year-old was arrested on June 3 in connection with a sexual offence in Finchampstead, Berkshire. The incident occurred on Sunday, June 1 at around 3.45pm at the sports pavilion by Finchampstead Baptist Church Centre. He reportedly approached children aged between 10 and 11, before appearing to take photos of them. He then inappropriately touched a young boy over his clothing before chasing him a short distance. In a statement, Detective Sergeant Pauline Cameron from Thames Valley Police said: 'I would like to thank the community and everyone who has phoned in with information so far. "We have now made an arrest and we are keeping an open mind as we continue to carry out our enquiries. 'We understand that people will have been concerned to hear of this report, however I ask that you please don't speculate about the circumstances of this incident as we continue to progress our investigation." 1 The man has been released on police bail until September while enquiries continue.
