Video. Pink diamond linked to French royalty expected to sell for millions
After reappearing at a Geneva auction in 1996, the stone vanished from public view. Now mounted in a ring designed by Parisian jeweller JAR, it is on a world tour with stops in Los Angeles, Geneva, and Hong Kong.
Christie's will present the piece on 17 June, expecting bids between €2.8 million and €4.6 million.

'Here, you can dress however you want': Women-only parties make crowds feel freer
In the back room of the club, near the smoking area, awash in seductive red light, Allison (people mentioned by their first names did not wish to share their full name) paused for a moment. With one leg propped up on the bar, the 21-year-old accounting student stretched her muscles, which were already sore after an hour of uninhibited dancing. "I tried to do the splits, caught up in the heat of the moment," said Allison. She said she found it impossible to hold back her joyful energy on the dance floor where, on this May evening, she felt freer than ever to let loose, without worrying about intrusive stares or inappropriate gestures. Allison also felt free to wear whatever she wanted: a shirt tied up above her navel and a short plaid skirt. "Normally, I would never dare go to a party with my stomach so exposed," said the young woman, who sported a long afro haircut. Yet that Thursday night, she approached the event, held in a downtown club in the southern French city of Toulouse, in a new way. The party was for women only, and, along with their coats, guests were invited to leave their self-censorship at the cloakroom. "Girls only!" read the warning on the site when booking a ticket for a "Bringue," a series of women-only parties that have sprung up across France and Belgium. The idea began when a young Parisian woman in her 20s wanted to go dancing but had no friends available to come with her. Clarisse Luiz posted a tweet inviting other women, all strangers, to join her: in the end, a group of 10 women got together and had a great ladies' night out. A social media manager by profession, she wanted to repeat the experience, and thus La Bringue was born in 2019. It is now present in about 10 cities, with women as both partygoers and DJs – only the venue staff is, at times, men. In the post-#MeToo movement context, the concept of a party without men has found a wide audience. So much so that other companies have entered the market, such as "mom parties" aimed at mothers.

AYT Studio carves a path between contemporary fashion and artistic expression
The brand can be found online via its aesthetic e-commerce store, but Yasmine El Kadiri relies on physical encounters to best express her concept. This approach was validated after a pop-up in the Marais district of Paris in spring, in which Remed's works mirrored the clothes on display, enabling the label to reach both French and international customers. The designer is continuing in this vein, exhibiting her creations until the end of July at the We Are club in Paris, located on rue Saint-Honoré and dedicated to the creative industries. The brand will then move on to the new We Are location in Lille, at 22, place Louise-de-Bettignies, in the heart of Vieux-Lille. This will be followed by another installation for a few days in the Parisian space, during the next Women's Fashion Week. "This period is also an opportunity to meet buyers, particularly department stores who are interested in concepts that blend different universes. I'm convinced that in the plethora of ready-to-wear on offer, what's going to make the difference is authenticity and commitment. The relationship with wholesale can take time, but there are opportunities around different venues, such as art foundations, and I'm a big believer in hotels. These are places where it's possible to express this relationship between the collection and the artist's work", said the entrepreneur, who is moving ahead with partnerships with resorts, to offer her editions as cruise collections. With its original concept, beyond seducing buyers, AYT Studio is also imagining a new approach to fashion distribution.

Chanel to stage Métiers d'Art show in New York
French luxury maison Chanel announced on Thursday its next Métiers d'Art collection will be unveiled in New York on December 2. In a brief statement, the Parisian house founded by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel said, 'This choice extends the history that has united Chanel with New York since the 1930s, from Gabrielle Chanel's first trips across the Atlantic to the Paris-New York Métiers d'Art collection show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2018." Exact show location details were not disclosed. The runway show will be the first Métiers d'Art collection designed by newly appointed creative director, Matthieu Blazy, who will make his design debut for Chanel on October 6 for the house's ready-to-wear collection as part of Paris Fashion Week. "I'm delighted that Matthieu Blazy has chosen New York for his first Métiers d'art show," said Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel fashion. "He will resonate the creative energy of the city he knows so well with the exceptional savoir-faire of the house." Created by former Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld in 2002, Metiers d'Art is an annual destination show put on by Chanel to highlight the expertise of 12 artisanal workshops now owned by French fashion house, including the embroiderer Lesage and the milliner Maison Michel. Past show locations include Dakar, Paris, Manchester, and Hangzhou in China, where the fashion house showcased its Metiers d'Art collection last year.
