Max Williams is officially a Miami Marlin.
Jim Callis of MLB.com reported on Sunday that the former Florida State Seminole had signed with the Marlins for $897,500. It is an underslot deal, as the No. 78 pick had a value of $1,043,700 million.
Williams spent the final two seasons of his career at FSU after starting his career at Alabama. He played in 119 games as a Seminole, making 107 starts. He finished his career hitting .315 with 33 home runs, 20 doubles, and 99 RBI, in 451 at-bats. He had a .995 fielding percentage, making just one error, and recording four assists.
He was at his best as a junior, hitting .321 with 19 home runs, nine doubles, 53 RBI, and 47 runs scored. He has a .603 slugging percentage and walked 19 times. His 19 homers were the second most in the ACC, and he made the All-ACC Second Team.
Williams was one of three FSU players that the Marlins drafted, they also took Drew Faurot and Joey Volini in the fourth and fifth rounds, respectively. It was the first time they have ever taken multiple Seminoles in one draft and the fourth time ever that any MLB team has taken three former Seminoles.

Three Ohio State football players receive 2025 Big Ten Preseason Honors

The Big Ten Conference released the players included in its 2025 Preseason honors on Wednesday, and as usual, there are a number of Ohio State players included in the 16 names. The Buckeyes tied Penn State with the most players honored, with three each. The three players donning Scarlet and Gray for the 2025 season named to the Big Ten Preseason Honors list are safety Caleb Downs, receiver Jeremiah Smith, and linebacker Sonny Styles. Smith was the only player on the list of names selected unanimously by the media. Smith burst onto the scene last year as a freshman. He hauled in 76 passes for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns, putting together arguably the best season by a freshman wide receiver ever. Downs is widely considered the best defensive player in the country and should continue to be inserted all over the field to wreak havoc on the OSU defense once again. He tallied 81 tackles and two interceptions last season. Styles returns for his final season and is looking to build on a breakout year in which he finished with 100 tackles and six sacks. He should be even better this year. Michigan State football extends offer to Harrisburg (PA) 2027 safety

It was a day where the Michigan State football coaching staff has extended new offers to the 2027 recruiting class. First the Spartans extended an offer to running back Trey Martin, and following that, the Spartans extended an offer to a defensive back from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Julius Fuentes-Bream received the offer from Michigan State safeties coach James Adams. He is a 3-star product, according to Rivals, as a 6-foot-2, 190 pound safety. A member of Bishop McDevitt High School, Fuentes-Bream holds power conference offers from Arkansas, Cal, Cincinnati, Louisville, Minnesota, Missouri, Ole Miss, Pitt, UCLA and Wisconsin. With Michigan State defensive coordinator Joe Rossi being a Pennsylvania native, the Spartans have taken a keen interest in the state, especially on the defensive side of the ball, in recruiting.
