Man jailed after shooting man in face in city park
A gunman who shot another man in the face at a park in Coventry has been jailed for 32 years.
Raydell Lennox, 19, from Sandwell, fired a weapon in Caludon Castle Park in Farren Road on 21 October last year, after pulling up in a car just after 22:15 BST.
The victim, 24, sustained serious, life-changing facial injuries, West Midlands Police said.
"It's unclear why Lennox fired the gun towards the victim, a strong line of enquiry has been it was mistaken identity, " Det Con Rob Tilley added.
Lennox was convicted of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, following a two week trial at Coventry Crown Court on 19 May.
The 19-year-old, who had fled the country after the shooting, was identified as a prime suspect and arrested after he returned to the UK, West Midlands Police said.
The car that he was believed to have travelled in on the night of the shooting, was found burnt out, just over a week after the incident, the force added.

In the other case, which ended in April, a lawyer for a man suing his local council said she could not explain where a series of nonexistent cases in the arguments had come from. Judge Sharp drew the two examples together using rarely exercised powers that were designed to enable the 'court to regulate its own procedures and to enforce duties that lawyers owe.' 'There are serious implications for the administration of justice and public confidence in the justice system if artificial intelligence is misused,' she wrote, warning that lawyers could be convicted of a criminal offense or barred from practicing for using false A.I.-generated material. Man, 62, shot while passing group in South Shore, police say
A 62-year-old man was taken to the hospital early Friday morning after being shot in the South Shore neighborhood. It happened around 2:44 a.m. in the 7100 block of South Bennett Avenue. Chicago police said the victim was walking by a group who were arguing, followed by the sound of gunfire. The victim was hit once in the leg and was taken to Provident Hospital in good condition. Police said he was unable to give any further details about the shooting. As of Friday afternoon, there is no one in custody. Area 1 detectives are investigating.

3 men charged with robbing, shooting victim in Aurora township
Three men were charged with shooting a man during a robbery in Aurora Township earlier this week. Ellis Pryor, 20, Demeir Miller, 23, and Francis Whitaker, 21, all from Aurora, are facing multiple charges, including armed robbery, aggravated battery, and mob action violence. Whitaker and Pryor received additional charges of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful restraint. According to the Kane County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery with injury from shots fired on Monday, just after 6:30 p.m., in the 800 block of Konen Avenue. Initial reports indicate that a 31-year-old Aurora man was driving a red Mitsubishi Outlander and arrived at the scene. That's where three men approached and demanded that the driver give them money and a cell phone. After taking the driver's belongings, one of the men fired a gun, hitting the victim in the right leg. The victim was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and later released. The suspects left the scene, running northbound from the 800 block of Konen Avenue, police said. K9s and a drone were deployed to locate evidence and the suspects involved in the incident. It's unclear when the first two suspects were arrested, but police said the final suspect was taken into custody Thursday afternoon. Additional information, including their court dates, was not released.
