Wild top Canucks in OT, inch closer to playoff spot
Zuccarello snuck behind the Vancouver defense and took a pass from Kirill Kaprizov then deked goaltender Kevin Lankinen as the Wild (44-30-7, 95 points) clawed their way back from a two-goal deficit to start the third period.
Brock Faber had a goal and an assist and Marcus Foligno scored for the Wild, who entered the contest needing a regulation win along with a regulation loss by St. Louis to clinch a Western Conference wild-card spot. The Blues (43-30-8, 94 points) lost in a shootout to the Seattle Kraken, earning them a point.
Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson stopped 12 of 14 shots.
Jake DeBrusk and Marcus Pettersson scored for the Canucks (37-29-14, 88 points). Quinn Hughes got his 59th assist of the season while Lankinen stopped 30 of 33 shots.
Hughes became just the seventh defenseman in league history to record three consecutive 75-point seasons.
Pettersson opened the scoring for Vancouver at 3:11 of the first with a shot that beat Gustavsson to the short side.
DeBrusk scored a power-play goal at 13:08 of the second to give Vancouver a 2-0 lead. DeBrusk beat Gustavsson with a shot to the blocker side that looked similar to Pettersson's.
Faber got the Wild's rally started by threading a shot through the legs of the Canucks' Conor Garland and past Lankinen just 22 seconds in the third to cut the Vancouver lead to 2-1.
Foligno scored at 13:14 of the third to tie the game 2-2 and set the stage for overtime.
This was the teams' final meeting this season. The Wild won the first game at home 3-2 in overtime on Dec. 3, then the Canucks returned the favor against the visiting Wild 3-1 on March 7.

The main event of UFC Vancouver in October will pit Reinier de Ridder against Anthony 'Fluffy' Hernandez, potentially offering a clue to Khamzat Chimaev 's first challenger for the middleweight title. After Chimaev's lopsided decision win, his first challenger is now likeliest to come from the result of September's UFC Paris main event: Nassourdine Imavov vs Caio Borralho. That was already a possibility, with Borralho having even weighed in as the back-up fighter for Chimaev vs Du Plessis, but the winner of that bout is now likely to have priority over De Ridder and Hernandez for a title fight, or even to be healthier before the victor of that contest. Of course, that could change depending on what happens in those fights, but as of now, it seems likely that Imavov or Borralho will be next for the unbeaten Chimaev, with De Ridder and Hernandez perhaps fighting to be next in line. Although Borralho is seeded seventh, below No 5 De Ridder and sixth-ranked Hernandez, the Brazilian could leap up the rankings with a win over No 2 Imavov in Paris on 6 September. Du Plessis, having lost to Chimaev by three scorecards of 50-44, will almost certainly not receive an instant rematch. While he sits at No 1 in the rankings, third-ranked Sean Strickland – another ex-champion – is coming off a loss to the South African, so he is also unlikely to be next for Chimaev. Elsewhere in the top 10 are former champions Israel Adesanya at No 4 and Robert Whittaker at No 8, though each man was beaten by Imavov and De Ridder respectively in his last outing. France's Imavov knocked out Adesanya in February, and Dutchman De Ridder narrowly outpointed Whittaker in July. Interestingly, Borralho has not fought since August 2024, when he outpointed Jared Cannonier, but is riding a 16-fight win streak – bar a No Contest in 2018. Meanwhile, American Hernandez enters his bout with De Ridder on an eight-fight win streak, and on the back of a submission of Roman Dolidze this month. De Ridder is a former two-weight champion in ONE, where he held middleweight and light-heavyweight gold simultaneously, and he has gone on an impressive streak since joining the UFC in November. The Major Soccer League transfer window closes this week and it remains to be seen if the American side comes back in Dundee United have knocked back a major six-figure bid for Will Ferry. Record Sport understands the offer has come in from a Major League Soccer side but is well short of United's valuation. It remains to be seen if the club from the Western Conference side comes back in with an increased offer before the MLS transfer window closes on Thursday night. The Tannadice club is under no financial pressure to sell and would only let one of their prize assets go if they were to receive a significant offer. Ferry was ranked as one of the standout full-backs in Scotland last season when it came down to the data analytics, while he also holds up well in leagues across Europe. and Hibs sold Lewis Miller to Blackburn for a deal that could net them £1.5million. Ferry is very much at that same level and it would take a decent seven figure bid to even get United to the table. Jim Goodwin 's side are also in a good place because Ferry is still under contract for this season and next. The 24-year-old has also been named as United's vice captain and also skippered them through their Conference League campaign. Ferry's form has also not gone unnoticed by Ireland and he is very much on the radar for a full call-up. He has previously been capped at under-21 level but new national coach Heimir Hallgrimsson has had him scouted and he is very much in his thinking. Ferry has been something of a coup since Goodwin signed the wing back from Cheltenham last summer and he was a key figure in their fourth place finish.
