Wild top Canucks in OT, inch closer to playoff spot
April 13 - Mats Zuccarello scored the winning goal 2:47 into overtime as the Minnesota Wild continued their late playoff push by rallying to beat the host Vancouver Canucks 3-2 on Saturday.
Zuccarello snuck behind the Vancouver defense and took a pass from Kirill Kaprizov then deked goaltender Kevin Lankinen as the Wild (44-30-7, 95 points) clawed their way back from a two-goal deficit to start the third period.
Brock Faber had a goal and an assist and Marcus Foligno scored for the Wild, who entered the contest needing a regulation win along with a regulation loss by St. Louis to clinch a Western Conference wild-card spot. The Blues (43-30-8, 94 points) lost in a shootout to the Seattle Kraken, earning them a point.
Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson stopped 12 of 14 shots.
Jake DeBrusk and Marcus Pettersson scored for the Canucks (37-29-14, 88 points). Quinn Hughes got his 59th assist of the season while Lankinen stopped 30 of 33 shots.
Hughes became just the seventh defenseman in league history to record three consecutive 75-point seasons.
Pettersson opened the scoring for Vancouver at 3:11 of the first with a shot that beat Gustavsson to the short side.
DeBrusk scored a power-play goal at 13:08 of the second to give Vancouver a 2-0 lead. DeBrusk beat Gustavsson with a shot to the blocker side that looked similar to Pettersson's.
Faber got the Wild's rally started by threading a shot through the legs of the Canucks' Conor Garland and past Lankinen just 22 seconds in the third to cut the Vancouver lead to 2-1.
Foligno scored at 13:14 of the third to tie the game 2-2 and set the stage for overtime.
This was the teams' final meeting this season. The Wild won the first game at home 3-2 in overtime on Dec. 3, then the Canucks returned the favor against the visiting Wild 3-1 on March 7.

Chelsea vs LAFC betting tips: Blues to get off to winning start in Club World Cup
Chelsea vs LAFC betting tips Chelsea face LAFC in Atlanta on Monday night in both clubs' opening match of the 2025 Club World Cup, with the Blues looking to build on a successful end to 2024/25. Enzo Maresca's side enter the new competition off the back of securing Champions League qualification and the Europa Conference League trophy, and the Italian will be looking forward to testing his side against some of the world's best this month. Chelsea aren't among the favourites for the competition – priced around 11/1 to win outright – but fans will be eager to see how they fare against a range of unusual opposition in the USA. And the first test comes against LAFC, the LA-based club that was only founded in 2014. The American side are currently in the middle of their own domestic season, sitting in fifth in the Western Conference, but are seen as heavy underdogs to get a result. Football betting sites are pricing Chelsea as 1/3 favourites, with LAFC offered at 17/2 and a draw priced as high as 15/4. Chelsea vs LAFC tips: Blues to earn straightforward win Despite a season that threatened to collapse at points late on, Chelsea rallied and put together some excellent form in the final few weeks as they secured fourth place in the Premier League and won the Conference League. The Blues have lost just once in their last 10 matches (2-0 away to Newcastle) but have conceded 10 goals in that time too, though several have been during big wins – such as the 4-1 wins over Real Betis and Djurgarden. LA have only lost one of their last 10 too, though they have managed five draws in those games and have conceded 16 times. But such is the gap between the two leagues that Chelsea obviously start as heavy favourites, with LA never having faced such a quality side in a competitive fixture in their entire history. While the timing of the match means it will likely be closer than otherwise anticipated, even a Chelsea side containing several second-string players should have more than enough to win and keep a clean sheet. And with that in mind, we're backing Chelsea to win to nil, which is offered at 13/10 with William Hill. Chelsea vs LAFC prediction 1: Chelsea to win to nil - 13/10 William Hill Chelsea vs LAFC prediction: Delap to net on debut As has been the case with several Premier League clubs, Chelsea have long been looking to add to their squad with a striker who will guarantee goals in the league. But unlike some of their rivals, the Blues have acted quickly and grabbed a potential bargain, with Liam Delap joining from Ipswich in a deal worth around £30m earlier this month. Delap scored 12 league goals for an Ipswich side who were eventually relegated last season, but he showed enough to impress some of the league's big clubs and was also a reported target for Manchester United and Newcastle. And having not played during the recent international break, the 22-year-old could make his debut for the club against LA. He'll be especially eager to impress during the tournament too, as he'll no doubt face competition for places with Nicolas Jackson, alongside another potential striker signing arriving later in the summer. And we're backing the youngster to make a good impression on his debut, with various betting sites offering odds of 6/5 on Delap to score anytime. Responsible gambling If you're having a bet on the Club World Cup, it's vital to practice responsible gambling. When using gambling sites be aware that sports betting can be addictive. Please take steps to remain in control of your time and budget. The same applies whether you're using bookmakers, slot sites, casino sites, casino apps, betting apps, or any other gambling platform. Even the most knowledgeable punter can lose a bet, so always stick to a budget and never chase your losses. It's particularly important not to get carried away by any free bets or casino offers you might receive, both of which are available in abundance on gambling sites, but must be approached with caution. You can stay in control by making use of the responsible gambling tools offered, such as deposit limits, loss limits, self-exclusion and time-outs. Having also sealed a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2023 there is a feelgood factor surrounding the Blues that they will be hoping to carry with them to the United States. Here, the PA news agency looks at the Londoners' group stage opponents and beyond. Los Angeles FC With his first-half assist against Sporting Kansas City, @LAFC's Denis Bouanga became the second player in club history to reach 70 career goal contributions, joining Carlos Vela (137). — MLS Communications (@MLS_PR) June 9, 2025 The MLS side were a late addition to the tournament and were nearly not involved at all, with an 89th-minute equaliser from Brazilian midfielder Igor Jesus salvaging their preliminary play-off against Club America of Mexico last month before French winger Denis Bouanga won it towards the end of extra time. The play-off came about after Club Leon, also from Mexico, were disqualified from the tournament over FIFA's rules on dual ownership. LAFC, who are first up for Chelsea in Atlanta on June 16, are relatively new to MLS having been founded in 2014. They finished top of the Western Conference last season and qualified for the play-offs where they ultimately finished third, with their only national title coming in 2022. Former Tottenham goalkeeper and France's World Cup-winning captain Hugo Lloris and ex-Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud are standout names, while Odin Holm, on loan from Celtic, will also be familiar. Coach Steve Cherundolo played more than 300 Bundesliga matches for Hannover. Flamengo A clash with Brazilian giants Flamengo follows in Philadelphia, with the Rio de Janeiro state champions and current leaders of the national championship likely to be the strongest opposition faced by Maresca's side in the group stage. They qualified as Copa Libertadores winners in 2022. A familiar face awaits in the dugout with former Chelsea full-back Felipe Luis leading the team as head coach, though the former Brazil international made only 15 Premier League appearances in his single season at Stamford Bridge in 2014/15. Jorginho played more recently for the club, leaving for Arsenal in 2023 and moving to Flamengo earlier this month, while defender David Luiz – a Champions League winner with the Blues in 2012 – departed only last summer. Flamengo lifted the Intercontinental Cup back in 1981 after a 3-0 win over Bob Paisley's Liverpool in Tokyo, and with seven titles they are the joint-third most successful club in Brazilian football. Esperance de Tunis Tunisian club Esperance qualified by virtue of their Confederation of African Football (CAF) ranking, having last won the African Champions League in 2019 – their fourth title. The squad is a mixture of domestic players and recruits from further afield including Brazil, Sweden and Belgium. Captain Yassine Meriah has 85 caps for Tunisia and the defender played against England at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and has played in the Champions League for Olympiacos. The club were given the nickname 'The Beast of Africa' in 1994 to reflect their dominance of football both domestically, where they have been champions 34 times, and on the continent. Bayern Munich are another possible opponent, as are New Zealand club Auckland City. Thereafter things become less easy to predict, but topping the group could well set them up for a quarter-final against either Real Madrid, Paris St Germain or Borussia Dortmund.
