That year, the German tactician led the Bavarian giants to triumphs across multiple fronts, proving his ability to manage high-pressure scenarios.
It all began in July 2020 when Bayern Munich defeated Bayer Leverkusen to secure the DFCB Pokal.
However, the highlight of that historic run was undoubtedly the UEFA Champions League final victory against Paris Saint-Germain. Flick's Bayern triumphed 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Kingsley Coman.
The success did not stop there. Bayern then played Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup final, where they emerged victorious 2-1.
Just six days later, Bayern faced Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup final, securing another win to complete a stunning series of domestic and international trophies.

Flick capped off the remarkable run in early 2021 by guiding Bayern to the FIFA Club World Cup title.

Star striker Robert Lewandowski says he'll no longer play for Poland while Michal Probierz is coach
WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Robert Lewandowski will no longer play for Poland while Michał Probierz remains head coach, the Barcelona striker said. The 36-year-old Poland captain, who has played a record 158 games for his country and is the leading scorer with 85 goals, cited tiredness from a La Liga title-winning season with Barcelona for pulling out of last Friday's 2-0 friendly win over Moldova and Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Finland. Probierz subsequently named Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zieliński as the new captain. The Polish soccer association said: 'Piotr Zieliński has been named the new captain of the national team by head coach Michał Probierz. The coach personally informed Robert Lewandowski, the entire team and the coaching staff of his decision.' Lewandowski replied with a post on X: 'Taking into account the circumstances and the loss of trust in the head coach of the Polish national team, I have decided to step down from playing for the national team for as long as he remains in charge. I hope I will still have the chance to play again for the best fans in the world.' Lewandowski suffered an injury to his left thigh on April 19 in a La Liga match against Celta Vigo and was sidelined for two weeks. He missed four games, including a thrilling 3-3 Champions League semifinal first leg against Inter in Barcelona. He recovered in time for the second leg and was used as substitute in a 4-3 defeat that sent Inter to the final. Poland leads World Cup Group G qualifying with two wins from two games. ___ AP soccer:

Real Madrid Finalizes Transfer Agreement For Superstar Signing: Report
Spanish soccer giant Real Madrid has reached a transfer agreement with River Plate for the latter's highly-rated teenager Franco Mastantuono according to Mundo Deportivo, which cited anonymous sources. After landing Brazilian prodigy Endrick from Palmeiras in 2024 for a reported $68.5 million (€60 million), Los Blancos were often linked to heading across the border and securing Mastantuono. Unlike Madrid's Brazil national team talents such as Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo and Endrick, Mastantuono would not have to wait until he turned 18 to cross the Atlantic and join a European club because of his access to an Italian passport that many Argentines enjoy. That has always made him an attractive prospect to a potential suitor on what South Americans call the 'Old Continent', as he wouldn't occupy one of few non-EU spots in the first team squad. As a trophyless 2024/2025 season in terms of major silverware drew to a close for Madrid, which had to witness newfound domestic dominance from FC Barcelona, talk of signing Mastantuono fizzled out. After securing a maiden Champions League crown by thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in a Munich decider, Paris Saint-Germain looked to be leading the race for the midfielder. Furthermore, English heavyweight Manchester City, which has already raided River once for Claudio Echeverri, was also believed to be in the running and in more of a position to pull off the potential coup. In the past week, however, Madrid came out of nowhere and ramped up its interest in the teenager, and it has now agreed to pay his $51.4 million (€45 million) release clause in Buenos Aires. Mundo Deportivo's report on the matter has been backed by reliable sources such as transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, and the only obstacles that were getting in the way of an agreement were the payment structure and dates of when related monies will be sent to River. Now that all this has seemingly been ironed out, and as already explained, Madrid doesn't have to wait until Mastuono turns 18 to incorporate him into Xabi Alonso's first team squad or send him to the Castilla where he can start to get a taste for European soccer. Unlike new signings such as Dean Huijsen and Trent-Alexander Arnold, however, which were made swiftly with one eye on the newly-reimagined FIFA tournament that has huge prize money on offer, Mastuono won't switch allegiances in order to play the Club World Cup. He'll compete in the tournament as a River player, where the Argentines face Urawa, Monterrey and beaten Champions League finalists Inter Milan in the group stage meaning Marcelo Gallardo's men have a realistic chance of making it to the knockout phase. As we've seen with Endrick, who has Kylian Mbappe in his way, breaking into the Real Madrid first XI is no easy task. A bit further back, however, there might be a semi-vacant spot on the right wing where a Rodrygo linked to a potential exit ended 2024/2025 out of the picture while Arda Guler took the position for himself.

Alvaro Carreras set to play for Benfica in Club World Cup despite Real Madrid transfer interest
Benfica are set to include full-back Alvaro Carreras in their Club World Cup squad despite transfer interest from Real Madrid. The Athletic reported in May that Madrid were in talks with the Lisbon club to re-sign their former academy graduate, and while no agreement is yet in place, further club-to-club talks are anticipated. Advertisement The Spanish side had been aiming to complete the 22-year-old's signing before this summer's tournament in the United States, but no agreement has been reached and he is expected to play for Benfica in the competition. Carreras played for Madrid's academy between 2017 and 2019 before joining Manchester United, where he did not make a senior appearance. Madrid have already completed the signings of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen, from Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively, ahead of the tournament. Carreras is Madrid's primary target at left-back this summer, while Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez and Alejandro Grimaldo of Bayer Leverkusen also under consideration. Benfica start their Club World Cup campaign against Boca Juniors on June 16 before playing Auckland City four days later and concluding their group against Bayern Munich on June 24.
