State Cabinet approves land swap for Oberoi Hotel Project in Tirupati
At its meeting held on Wednesday, the Cabinet sanctioned the swapping of 24.68 acres of APTA land in Survey No. 604 at Peruru village with 25 acres of TTD land in Survey No. 588A of the same village.
This follows a resolution passed by the TTD Board during an emergency meeting on May 7 at Tirumala, chaired by TTD Chairman B R Naidu, supporting the land swap. The decision effectively revives, with changes, an earlier plan to allocate land near Alipiri to the Oberoi Group.
In January 2023, the then YSRCP government had allotted 24.68 acres to the group along the Alipiri–SV Zoo Park road in Peruru for a luxury hotel project under the name 'Mumtaz Hotels'. However, the project faced opposition from Hindu groups who objected to the hotel's name and its proximity to the pilgrimage site, citing concerns over the sanctity of the area.
After the change in government, TTD Chairman B R Naidu raised objections to the original allotment. In March 2025, the TTD Board resolved to cancel both the 35-acre land granted to Mumtaz Hotels and the land sanctioned for the Devlok project near the Alipiri–Cherlopalli road. Subsequently, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu instructed TTD to identify an alternative site.
The newly approved location lies on the opposite side of the same road, reportedly situated between Aravind Eye Hospital and TATA Cancer Institute. With the Cabinet's approval, the earlier land allotment stands officially cancelled, allowing the Oberoi Group to proceed with its project at the new site.

Less than 15 hours after the meeting between Pragya Thakur and Uma Bharti, state BJP leaders rushed to her residence. Following the meeting, state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal said that the allegations levelled against Pragya Thakur were sad and unfortunate. "She has fought an extraordinary battle for Sanatan. Truth can be disturbed but not defeated. The court's decision has proven that a person following Sanatan Dharma can never be involved in a terrorism," Khandelwal said. Handing her a flower bouquet, the state BJP functionaries congratulated her on the acquittal in the Malegaon blast case. However, sources in state BJP said the visit by the governing party top brass came a day too late. Sources said that the meeting could have come a day or two earlier since she has been a BJP MP and the verdict has been in her favour. Her acquittal also backs the party's core agenda that there is no Hindu or saffron terror as was claimed by the Congress. Khandelwal also said that the Congress, which created narratives like "Hindu terrorism" should always remember that a Hindu can never be a terrorist. "The court's decision has given an answer to those who insult Sanatan Dharma, sants and saffron. The seven accused persons including Pragya Thakur have endured unbearable pain, social boycott and political attacks in the last 17 years. Due to the greed for votes and politics of appeasement, Congress and its allies not only implicated innocent people, but also made an organised effort to tarnish the image of the entire Hindu society. Rioters in Sambhal face the wrath of 'Mahakal': CM Yogi Adityanath
Sambhal, Aug 7 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lashed out at political rivals and historical wrongs, declaring Sambhal a sacred symbol of Hindu faith. CM Yogi took aim at foreign invaders, Congress, and the Samajwadi Party, warning that 'those who sinned against Sambhal will face stern retribution.' CM was in Sambhal on Thursday where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 222 development projects worth Rs 659 crore in Bahjoi. Addressing a public gathering on the occasion, CM Yogi while launching a sharp attack on foreign invaders, unveiled Sambhal's suppressed history. He said the town once boasted 68 pilgrimage sites, 19 sacred wells, and traditional 24- and 84-kos parikrama routes — all desecrated and destroyed by invaders. These holy sites were taken over, and a deliberate attempt was made to erase the truth, he asserted. Calling it a 'malicious conspiracy,' CM Yogi Adityanath vowed to restore all 68 shrines and 19 sacred wells in Sambhal. Citing Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar's revival of Kashi Vishwanath and Somnath temples, he pledged a similar renaissance for Sambhal's heritage. 'True development,' he said, 'lies in preserving legacy while shaping the golden dreams of today and tomorrow.' Emphasizing Sambhal's spiritual significance, CM Yogi said it is a sacred land of both Hari (Vishnu) and Har (Shiva), and foretold in scriptures like the Shrimad Bhagavat, Skanda, and Vishnu Puranas as the birthplace of Lord Kalki in Kaliyug. Hitting out at those who label Hindu traditions as controversial, he said, 'Their background is controversial, so they see our heritage the same way — but this is not up for dispute.' He slammed previous governments, saying they nurtured one mafia per district, whereas his government is promoting the 'One District, One Product' scheme. He mentioned key welfare initiatives such as housing for the poor, free ration, grants for daughters' weddings, and health services. Highlighting the upcoming festivals, CM Yogi noted that August 9 marks both Raksha Bandhan and Kakori Train Action Memorial Day, followed by Independence Day on August 15 and Shri Krishna Janmashtami on August 16. Echoing PM Modi's call, he urged citizens to hoist the national flag. Praising the resilience of Sambhal's people, he said they faced riots with courage and never bowed down.
