Prince Turki Al-Faisal Underscores Need to Support Palestinians
Prince Turki Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jerusalem Empowerment Fund (JEF), has underscored the dire need of intensifying efforts to ensure economic and social empowerment of Palestinians.
Al-Faisal's remarks were part of his speech at the JEF's expanded meeting with the Saudi business sector, organized by the Federation of Saudi Chambers in Riyadh on Wednesday, according to the Saudi Gazette.
'Palestine, and Jerusalem in particular, are going through difficult circumstances, which necessitates intensifying efforts to empower the Palestinian people economically and socially through the Jerusalem Empowerment Fund (JEF),' he said.
The prince also encouraged the Saudi business sector to support the JEF and considered the meeting as a valuable platform to build new partnerships with several entities.
Importantly, the meeting emphasized the Federation of Saudi Chambers' pivotal efforts in boosting the Saudi private sector's contribution to the causes and issues of the Islamic nation, particularly in supporting the Palestinian people.
On his part, Vice President of the federation, Fayez Al-Shuaili, shed light on the Saudi Arabia's efforts in supporting Arab and Islamic causes and its crucial role in establishing Islamic organizations, such as the Islamic Development Bank and the JEF.
Moreover, Al-Shuaili stressed the central role of the Saudi private sector in enhancing development programs and economic projects of Islamic organizations, its accomplishments in charitable and humanitarian work, and its positive engagement with humanitarian campaigns.

Tens of thousands gather in Rome for demonstration against the war in Gaza
ROME — The march, organised in Rome by the opposition forces Partito Democratico (Democratic Party), Movimento 5 Stelle (M5s) and Alleanza Verdi Sinistra Italiana (Avs), started from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II and finished before the basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano. Tens of thousands of people, according to the organizers, marched waving Palestine, peace and party flags and anti-war placards. Pakistani, Muslim leaders share Eid greetings, offer special prayers for Gaza
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Sunday exchanged Eid Al-Adha greetings with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Bahrain, Jordan and other Muslim nations and offered special prayers for the people of Gaza. Eid Al-Adha is one of the two most important festivals of the Islamic calendar, marked by Muslims in Pakistan and around the world by slaughtering animals such as sheep and goats, and distributing their meat among family, friends and the poor. Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister Dar held a telephonic conversation with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and exchanged warm Eid greetings, the Radio Pakistan broadcaster reported. They prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of Muslims across the world. Separately, PM Sharif held a telephonic conversation with Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and conveyed his warm greetings to him and the brotherly people of Oman on the Eid Al-Adha. The territory's roughly 2 million Palestinians are almost completely reliant on international aid because nearly all of Gaza's food production capabilities have been destroyed. The Pakistani leaders also held similar calls and exchange of Eid greetings with Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Jordan's King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
