America's Fastest-Growing Suburb Isn't Where You'd Expect
Like so many other facets of everyday life, cities, towns, and other residential areas rise and fall in popularity over time. Just when it seems like one community is on the downward slope, however, it suddenly experiences a major boom in its population, ushering in increased job opportunities, larger expansions in housing, and other notable aspects of development.
Interestingly, the personal finance and date website GOBankingRates has recently found that the fastest-growing suburban area isn't a residential neighborhood of Austin or Charleston. Instead, it's a relatively small community just outside Washington, D.C.: I.E., the quaint Virginian town of Woodbridge, roughly 30 minutes outside the Capital City.
According to GOBankingRates' research findings, the Prince William County community had roughly 4,400 people making up its population in 2018. By 2023, that number had risen to a staggering 43,443 residents within its designated borders.
CJ Williamson, a researcher with GOBankingRates, revealed the website's data to Travel + Leisure, telling the travel publication, "Woodbridge is by far the number one fastest-growing suburb in America, according to our latest research. The DC-area suburb experienced a massive population boom of 887% between 2018 and 2023."
To help determine the development rate of U.S. suburbs, Williamson said GOBankingRates specifically looked to sudden surges in population rates for suburban areas from 2018 to 2023. At a population growth rate of 887%, GOBankingRates listed Woodbridge as the suburbs that experienced the most dramatic increase, with three Texas communities -- Fulshear (236%), Celina (190%) and Princeton (114%) -- detailed a far distance behind.
While Woodbridge's massive growth spells out a major victory for Northern Virginia, the website's data shows that the state with the highest number of fast-growing communities is Texas, with a total of 16 suburbs experiencing rapid growth in that five-year period.
To afford a residence in Woodbridge, GOBankingRates also found that you'd likely need a household income of over $120,000, factoring in groceries, entertainment, and basic cost of living.

You Can Order Helicopters and Boats on Uber at This Iconic Italian Destination
Traveling up and down Italy's gorgeous Amalfi Coast is about to get a little more streamlined this summer. Uber announced that it is launching Uber Copter and Uber Boat in Sorrento, Italy, allowing visitors to use the app to travel by air, sea, or land throughout Southern Italy this summer. Starting June 25, reservations for the new services will be available to book through the Uber app within Italy. Uber will also expand its ground transportation options by launching Uber Reserve on the Amalfi Coast, which gives riders the ability to book rides in advance and beat the busy crowds at Salerno Airport. Uber Copter and Uber Boat will be limited to availability on summer weekends. Departing from an exclusive helipad in Sorrento, Uber Copter gives travelers the option to pre-book private, round-trip journeys to Capri by helicopter. The service allows groups of up to six people to travel in a dual-pilot helicopter for €250 (about $290) per person and includes door-to-door transportation to and from the helicopter. For travelers eager to head out to sea on the Amalfi Coast, Uber Boat allows users to book a private four-hour charter cruise for up to 12 people, including a personal skipper, snacks, and beverages. The boat will set sail from Sorrento Marina. 'At Uber, we strive to help our customers go anywhere, wherever they are travelling." Anabel Diaz, Uber's vice president of Europe, Middle East, and Africa mobility, said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure . "Italy is fast becoming one of our most popular tourist destinations, with travelers turning to the Uber app to help make their holiday travel stress-free. This summer, we're adding a series of unforgettable experiences that will make travelling by land, sea or air more magical than ever before.' Passengers on the Uber Boat off the Amalfi Coast. According to Uber, more than 400,000 people used Uber in Italy last summer, and 60,000 people opened the app in the Amalfi Coast in just the last 12 months. Both Uber Copter and Uber Boat must be booked at least 48 hours in advance through Uber Reserve, and the seasonal offerings will run every Saturday and Sunday from July 26 to Aug. 24. The availability of the services will be subject to weather conditions. The Amalfi Coast is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and has become more and more popular as a summer destination over the years, but despite the crowds, it is still an enjoyable and stunning place to visit in Italy.

Wyndham's New Ad Blitz: 25 Brands, 1 Message
The world's largest hotel franchisor wants its guests to think "I am a Wyndham person" rather than "I am a Super 8 person who sometimes stays at other random hotels." Wyndham on Wednesday launched a new multi-million dollar ad campaign — its first to promote all 25 of its hotel brands and its loyalty program under one tagline. The "Where There's a Wyndham, There's a Way" campaign marks a shift for the world's largest hotel franchisor, which has typically marketed its brands, like Super 8 and La Quinta, separately. It's also the result of hiring a new ad agency and adapting new marketing techniques to reach customers in an era of AI-based disruption to travel search. The campaign will serve as the foundation of its consumer messaging for years, not just a single campaign, said Marissa Yoss, vice president, brand marketing and paid media. The campaign emphasizes what Wyndham calls "grounded storytelling" over polished travel imagery. One ad shows a young aunt racing to make her niece's graduation and then helping

Tern acquires freelancer marketplace Lucia
Travel advisor technology platform Tern has acquired Lucia, a freelancer marketplace designed for the travel industry, for an undisclosed price. Lucia is a place where travel advisors can post services they need help with. Lucia's team, including CEO and founder Grace Van Hollebeke, will join Tern. Van Hollebeke takes on the role of head of marketing and services. Tern is headed by cofounder and CEO David Shull. Trade Secrets podcast: A spotlight on Tern and Lucia For users of Lucia, Van Hollebeke said, it will be "business as usual, even down to the name." Now known as Lucia by Tern, the day-to-day operations will remain the same with the team and platform migrating to Tern. "Hopefully, it's not always going to be business as usual. Hopefully we'll keep making improvements and adjustments as we always want to be," she said. Shull and Van Hollebeke met at Virtuoso Travel Week in 2023. They stayed loosely in touch, but reconnected earlier this year at the Las Vegas Travel Agent Forum, Shull said. That's when they said they realized how well their products meshed. Tern was in the process of closing on $17 million in funding. "We were thinking about, how do we become the holistic platform for travel advisors?" Shull said. A week later, he texted Van Hollebeke about a potential acquisition. "From Lucia's perspective, it was the idea of working with someone we really respected," Van Hollebeke said. "But also, we knew that they were closing on this funding and would have a tremendous amount of resources behind them. The mission of Lucia has always been to promote and support these small businesses, so the idea of doing it with them just seemed really exciting." Shull said both companies are built to support small businesses. "What is really special about this is we can now offer both the great technology as well as this network of service providers that are trained in the travel industry that know how to deliver this type of service -- whether it's marketing or destination guides or migrating data -- in a really cool way," he said. Over time, Shull said he hopes to use the scale of Tern to lower the costs of using the Lucia copilot network. (Lucia calls its freelancers "copilots".). Additionally, a four-part certification will launch next week for copilots interested in becoming Tern Certified CoPilots. "Combining the tech platform with the services layer is going to mean that if you're a Tern advisor, you are just set up to be so much more efficient as a business owner," Shull said.
