Duenweg police debut patrol SUVs, boosted by K9 Zeke's fame

DUENWEG, Mo. — A local community gives its police officers new tools to help them do their jobs. The Duenweg Police Department is the proud owner of two brand new patrol SUVs. Mayor Russell Olds says the city was able to get what he called a 'good deal' to trade in two other vehicles to cover a portion of the cost—the remained was already in the Police Department's budget. He says while it may seem like a small thing—having these new vehicles will make a big impact on the community. 'Well, it's pretty important to have the newest vehicles possible, if not new vehicles just simply because of maintenance cost. Police vehicles usually take a beating and uh once they run out of warranty, maintenance costs run pretty high,' said Russell Olds, Duenweg Mayor. And the Duenweg Police Department is capitalizing on the celebrity status of one of its own.K9 officer Zeke has developed quite the following on social media. Mini-Zekes are being offered on a 'caption this' post coming out at the beginning of each month. The user with the most interactions each month can take home their very own Mini-Zeke.
