
#SHOWBIZ: Nineties hip-hop group 4U2C set for grand comeback concert
KUALA LUMPUR: Legendary Malaysian 1990s hip-hop group 4U2C is poised for a powerful comeback with 'WE 4U2C Live in Concert,' scheduled for Sept 15 at the Idea Live Arena in Petaling Jaya.
This highly anticipated event, themed "Bringin' Back Da 90's Flava," will reunite all seven original members: Datuk AC Mizal, Aren, Yanz, Rinz, Lanz, Charlie, and Azam.
It offers fans a golden opportunity to relive the group's heyday.
The idea for the concert was initially sparked by AC Mizal's wife, Datin Emylia Rosnaida, before being realised with support from Juss Event Sdn Bhd.
"This concert has been a long-term dream of mine," shared AC Mizal, whose real name is Mizal Zaini.
"My wife first suggested it, and soon after, Juss Event came on board. It's truly a dream come true, and we're ready to give fans an unforgettable night."
AC Mizal also acknowledged that the recent success of the KRU reunion concert served as an inspiration.
"We're thankful to KRU, as its success reignited interest in 1990s acts like us. It showed that there's still strong demand for nostalgic performances. Now it's our turn to share this special moment with fans and family."
More than just a trip down memory lane, the concert marks 4U2C's official return to the local music scene.
"We're not just here for nostalgia; we want to be trendsetters again. 4U2C was the first local group to blend singing and choreographed dance performances. We're proud of that legacy, and we're bringing it back."
To ensure a top-tier production, renowned composer and musical director Aubrey Suwito has been enlisted to helm the concert's musical direction.
He will be supported by a team of 14 seasoned professional musicians.
Adding to the excitement, 4U2C will also debut three brand-new singles during the concert — a special treat for fans who have stood by them over the years.
Organised by Juss Event, the concert not only celebrates 4U2C's past success but also signals a fresh new chapter for the group in the Malaysian music industry, nearly 30 years after their debut.

After rocking the stage at 'K-Pop Masterz 2025', the boys of CRAVITY (크래비티) are back with a new image and new music! The nine-membered group recently dropped their second full-length album, 'Dare To Crave', and the title track, 'SET NET G0?' – marking a bold return. We recently got to talk to CRAVITY to learn more about their comeback and their new release. At the same time, we got to learn what the boys thought about performing in Malaysia for the first time, what they did when they were in town, and upcoming projects. Keep reading to learn more! Q. Your performance at 'K-Pop Masterz 2025' on 31st May was your first time performing in Malaysia since your debut in 2020. How did it feel to finally perform for Malaysian LUVITYs? Jungmo: Firstly, the reactions from our Malaysian fans were amazing. We saw them jumping up and enjoying the performance, so we felt energised by them while we were performing. We made a lot of memories together, and we want to go back! Minhee: It was fire! Q. For Taeyoung, it seems that Malaysia has a special place in your heart because you spent your childhood here. How did it feel to return to Malaysia after so many years? Taeyoung: Malaysia felt like my hometown, and I really enjoyed being there! The weather was so nice and I loved the food. The food was what I had expected, so it was really delicious! Q. I'm sure Taeyoung has spoken about Malaysia in the past. To the other members, what was it like visiting Malaysia for the first time? What was your first impression? CRAVITY: It's a beautiful country! Allen: The Petronas Twin Towers were very beautiful! Woobin: The night view was very beautiful. Jungmo: The food was so delicious! CRAVITY: ROTI BOOM! Hyeongun: Right, the food was great. Allen: Very good! Delicioso! Q. We know the members had time to go sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur before the concert. What did you guys do while in the city? Did you guys try any Malaysian food? Wonjin: We met Stitch! Taeyoung: Yeah, we met Stitch! And we went to see the Petronas Twin Towers, and we did some shopping. We also ate a lot of food. Allen: Wait, you saw Stitch? From 'Lilo and Stitch'? Where? Wonjin: At the mall (Pavilion Kuala Lumpur)! There was a pop-up store. Q. Let's talk about your comeback: CRAVITY is set to make their comeback on 23rd June, with a new full-length album. Can you share more about this comeback? Seongmin: We're back with our first full-length album in 3 years. There are 12 tracks total, and our members participated more than ever in creating this album. We hope you look forward to it! Q. The title track 'SET, NET, G0' is described as an electrifying dance track driven by dreamy pluck synths, a pulsating synth bass, and catchy vocal chops. What do you think is the key point of this track? Wonjin: There is a repeating guitar riff and drop that goes with our powerful and impressive performance. That part makes a strong impression, so please look forward to it. Q. Since it's been a while since your last Korean comeback, what do you think has been the biggest change? What can fans look forward to in the upcoming release? Wonjin: All of our members participated in writing lyrics and songs for this album, so I think each of our members included personal messages they wanted to share with LUVITY. It would be great if you paid close attention to the emotions that our members shared through those parts. Q. The comeback is also significant because it's in celebration of CRAVITY's 5th anniversary. What are you hoping to achieve with this new album? Do you have any specific goals? Taeyoung: Since this is our second full-length album, and it marks a major comeback, we hope to reach a new career-high with this album. Q. As we know, the members also took part in creating the songs in the new album. Can you guys share more about your roles in the composition and lyric-making of the songs? Wonjin: For me, I was the DJ for STATION-Z, and I met BrotherSu when he came out as the guest for the program. We connected then, and we wrote songs here and there. This time it started with the message I wanted to share with our fans, and that's how we came up with 'Wish Upon A Star'. Q. Besides the title track, which song from the album is your personal favourite? And which one would you recommend to the public trying to get to know about CRAVITY? Allen: My favourite is 'Underdog'. It's a song given to us by our big brother, JOOHONEY of Monsta X. And it's a very special song to us as well because it contains lyrics that tell our story. It's a very 'CRAVITY-core' and lore-accurate song, so I would recommend it to the public trying to learn more about us. Q. We're halfway through 2025. Do you have any projects planned for the second half of the year that you can share about? Maybe even solo projects? Jungmo: We're having a concert! CRAVITY: Yeah! *claps and cheers* Taeyoung: We're having our solo concert at the biggest venue of our career so far! Hyeongjun: And we're performing at KCON LA! Allen: But about the concert, if you guys want to watch us, you have to come to Seoul! It's a show you don't want to miss! Q. Since you have a new album coming soon, can fans expect a new tour as well? Will CRAVITY return to Malaysia someday? Hyeongjun: We don't have plans for a tour just yet, but if we have the opportunity to go to Malaysia again, we will definitely go. Please come to see us! Q. Can you share a few words for the Malaysian LUVITYs? Wonjin: We will never forget our first time visiting our Malaysian LUVITY, and we miss you already. #SHOWBIZ: Rock with a sweet bite
MALAYSIAN rock band Barbarik is set to headline Zepp Kuala Lumpur this Saturday, June 28, for their highly anticipated concert, 'Barbarik Pentas Peluru Cokelat'. The show celebrates their debut album, 'Peluru Cokelat'.This concert marks a significant milestone for the band, as it will be their first time performing a full set featuring entirely original tracks from their new album. Released in November last year, 'Peluru Cokelat' demonstrates Barbarik's serious commitment to establishing their presence in the Malaysian rock scene. The album comprises seven tracks: the title track, 'Golok Kayu' (featuring Karl Cromok), 'Didakap Pesona', 'Kasmaran Selamanya', 'Nasib Baik', 'Marcapada', 'Gelap Nan Terang' (an instrumental), and a radio edit of 'Didakap Pesona'. All songs were composed by Jo, with lyrics contributed by well-known writers including Nasir Jani, Muss, Bambino, Nuar Botak, and Jo himself. Mastering was expertly handled by Don Bartley at Benchmark Mastering in Brisbane, Australia. What truly distinguishes this album is its multi-format release. Fans can purchase it as a CD, vinyl record, USB card, or digital download via email, catering to collectors who still appreciate physical formats. Previously, Barbarik's live shows often included songs from lead singer Muss's time with the legendary rock band Wings. "We promise a high-energy performance that will test your adrenaline from start to finish," says frontman and guitarist Jo Branko, whose real name is Abdul Zamin Abdul Kadir. The 56-year-old rocker adds: "We want the audience so captivated they won't even want to take a bathroom break." Despite being formed only three years ago, Barbarik — comprising Muss (vocals), Jo Branko (guitar), Rozaimi (bass), and Ainol (drums) — has already headlined four major concerts. These include Pentas Keras 1.0 (in 2022), Double Trouble 2: Search X Barbarik (2023), Pentas Keras 2.0 (2023), and Pentas Keras 3.0 (2024).The band's formation can be traced back to their debut concert, Pentas Keras 1.0, in December 2022. This event reunited Muss and Jo — former bandmates from Wings — after more than two decades apart. The name Barbarik is inspired by the warrior character from the Mahabharata, symbolising immense strength and a fight for good — a spirit the band aims to revive through their music. At the upcoming concert, expected to run for over two hours, the band will perform 20 songs. They'll blend fresh material with nostalgic classics in a special segment called Retro Akustika, which pays tribute to the rock sounds of the 1980s and 1990s. The concert will also feature special guest guitarists Shah Slam, Ujang Tukimon, and Muzza, along with a string octet to elevate the musical experience. According to Jo, the upcoming concert will be unlike anything fans have seen before. "We want people to enjoy the show like they're watching a movie with popcorn," he elaborates. "The album 'Peluru Cokelat' reflects our direction as a band — one with purpose and identity." Jo also addresses the challenges of staging concerts in the current climate. "Our challenge today, besides the sheer volume of concerts, is technology. "Every time we do a concert, there will be fans who record the performance and post it on social media "They can watch the performance over and over again, so what more can Barbarik offer to encourage fans to come to the concert? We have to be more creative to showcase something out of the ordinary." He is grateful that despite the abundance of local and international concerts, most tickets for their show have already been snapped up by their fans. "Sales so far have been very encouraging. Tickets for the VIP room are already sold out. "Now, all that remains are tickets in the arena section for the standing category. Perhaps many of our fans are of a certain age group who prefer a seated area," he says with a laugh. "However, it's simply not possible for concert-goers at rock shows to be sitting throughout. So, that's why we've provided the standing section, and hopefully, we'll sell all the tickets for this section at the last minute," Jo adds, noting that a single ticket for this section is priced at just RM150.
