Shane Nigam's 25th film, co-starring Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, titled ‘Balti'; title glimpse video out

We had previously reported that Malayalam star Shane Nigam's 25th film, a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual sports action drama co-starring Preethi Asrani and Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, had locked a release date. Now, on Tuesday (June 10), the makers announced that the film's been titled Balti.
The makers unveiled a glimpse video to announce the news. The video introduces Shane as a kabaddi player, Udhayan, who is being chased by the police through the narrow streets of a town, a riveting scene that ends at a kabaddi court where Udhayan gets a hero's welcome. He performs a somersault (called balti) as he enters the court.
Balti is written and directed by debutant Unni Sivalingam. The film's technical crew includes cinematographer Alex J Pulickal, art director Ashik S, and action choreographers by Action Sandhosh & Vicky. News reports suggest the film has been edited by Shivkumar Panicker.
Further, the makers have kept the identity of the music composer of the film under wraps. On Tuesday, acclaimed indie musician Sai Abyankkar retweeted the glimpse video, writing 'Hmm :)', which has fuelled speculations that he is the composer of the film.
Produced by Santhosh T Kuruvilla & Binu George Alexander, Balti is set for a release in theatres on August 27.

Roshan Mathew says his first Hindi project helped him correct ‘wrong approach' to acting; admits he was ignoring the camera during early Malayalam projects

Actor Roshan Mathew has recently opened up about his busy career in Bollywood, despite being a Mollywood star. He gained popularity with his role in Darlings, and his recent OTT series Kankhajura has received much appreciation. The actor admitted that although his roots are in the Malayalam film industry, he made his debut as an actor with the Hindi series 'Tanlines' in 2015. Roshan Mathew about his role in Kankhajura In an interview with Hindustan Times, Roshan said playing in Kankhajura was exciting because it marked his first time portraying a grey-shaded character—especially in Hindi, where audiences mostly know him as the softer Zulfi from Darlings. He found the change both refreshing and fun. Kankhajura Trailer: Roshan Mathew, Mohit Raina and Sarah Jane Dias Starrer Kankhajura Official Trailer When asked about his appearance and the roles he plays, Roshan admitted that physical appearance plays a significant role in casting choices. He shared that he is glad Kankhajura's director, Chandan Arora, chose him for the role. Roshan about his career in Bollywood and Mollywood Roshan shared that returning to Bollywood feels like coming full circle. He elaborated, 'My first project in front of the camera—where I actually started having fun with the medium—was Tanlines. Proshit Roy, who directed it, played a huge part in helping me make friends with the camera. I had done a couple of films in Malayalam, but they hadn't been released. But I was going about it with the wrong approach. I was completely ignoring the camera and pretending like I was on stage. Proshit changed that for me. I owe a lot to him. So, if you think about it, getting to do another series in Hindi is a strange kind of homecoming." About Kankhajura Kankhajura also features Mohit Raina, Sarah Jane Dias, and Trinetra Haldar in key roles and is currently streaming on OTT.

CBFC agrees to review Vetrimaran film

Chennai: Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) has informed Madras high court that it will review Tamil movie 'Manushi', produced by director Vetrimaran, and specify the objectionable portions to the producer for edits. Appropriate certification will be provided once the process is completed, the board told the court. The submissions were made on a plea moved by Vetrimaran, alleging that the CBFC denied certification to the movie without a review. On June 4, Justice N Anand Venkatesh questioned how CBFC could deny a censor certificate without specifying the objectionable scenes. The court then directed the CBFC to specify objectionable scenes by June 16 or to watch the movie with the producer and point out the objectionable portions to him. The film, starring Andrea, is directed by Gopi Nainar. Vetrimaran moved the court, alleging that the censor board was refusing to certify his film and that he was not allowed to voice his opinion before CBFC made its decision. The CBFC denied certification to the movie on the grounds that it went against the integrity of the state, contained scenes that were contemptuous, defamed govt policies and portrayed stereotypes leading to a north/south divide
