Roshan Mathew says his first Hindi project helped him correct ‘wrong approach' to acting; admits he was ignoring the camera during early Malayalam projects
Actor
Roshan Mathew
has recently opened up about his busy career in Bollywood, despite being a Mollywood star. He gained popularity with his role in Darlings, and his recent OTT series Kankhajura has received much appreciation.
The actor admitted that although his roots are in the Malayalam film industry, he made his debut as an actor with the Hindi series 'Tanlines' in 2015.
Roshan Mathew about his role in Kankhajura
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Roshan said playing in Kankhajura was exciting because it marked his first time portraying a grey-shaded character—especially in Hindi, where audiences mostly know him as the softer Zulfi from Darlings.
He found the change both refreshing and fun.

When asked about his appearance and the roles he plays, Roshan admitted that physical appearance plays a significant role in casting choices. He shared that he is glad Kankhajura's director, Chandan Arora, chose him for the role.
Roshan about his career in Bollywood and Mollywood
Roshan shared that returning to Bollywood feels like coming full circle. He elaborated, 'My first project in front of the camera—where I actually started having fun with the medium—was Tanlines.
Proshit Roy, who directed it, played a huge part in helping me make friends with the camera. I had done a couple of films in Malayalam, but they hadn't been released. But I was going about it with the wrong approach. I was completely ignoring the camera and pretending like I was on stage.
Proshit changed that for me. I owe a lot to him. So, if you think about it, getting to do another series in Hindi is a strange kind of homecoming."
About Kankhajura
Kankhajura also features Mohit Raina, Sarah Jane Dias, and Trinetra Haldar in key roles and is currently streaming on OTT.

This superstar was madly in love with Sridevi, 13 years older than him, even proposed to her for marriage, played role of her stepson; His name is...
You must have heard many stories about Sridevi's beauty and her love story with husband Boney Kapoor. But do you know about her lesser-known connection with a South Indian superstar, with whom she did several films? Let us tell you about this unique and heartwarming relationship. Sridevi and Rajinikanth worked together in many films. Their friendship and on-screen chemistry were well known. They first collaborated in 1976 in the Tamil romantic film Moondru Mudichu. At that time, they were both just 13 years old. Interestingly, Sridevi was not the heroine in Rajinikanth's film; she played the role of his stepmother. Later, the two went on to do 19 films together, across multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. It is said that during this time, Rajinikanth began to fall in love with Sridevi. He was also very close to her family. At one point, Rajinikanth wanted to express his feelings. He wished to marry 16-year-old Sridevi and was even planning to propose to her. He was about to speak to her mother about the relationship, but something happened that prevented the matter from moving forward. In an interview with filmmaker K. Balachander, Rajinikanth revealed that he had deep feelings for Sridevi. He even went to her house with a marriage proposal. He was about to ask her mother for Sridevi's hand in marriage when, suddenly, the lights went out and the house was plunged into darkness. When Rajinikanth visited Sridevi's home, he was warmly welcomed. A delicious meal was prepared, and he was treated with great respect. Just as he was about to express his feelings, the power went out. Taking it as an inauspicious sign, he decided to postpone the conversation, thinking he would choose a better time to talk about something so important. However, that moment never came. Rajinikanth never got the chance to confess his feelings. Years later, in 1996, Sridevi married Boney Kapoor. Another famous incident is that once Rajinikanth became very ill. Sridevi then kept a fast for seven days for Rajinikanth. There was a very strong bond between the two, which remained forever. When Sridevi passed away, Rajinikanth dropped everything to come and pay his respects. Rajinikanth is married to Lata Rajinikanth, and the couple tied the knot in 1981. Since then, they had always spent quality time together on their wedding anniversary. However, for the first time in 37 years, Rajinikanth broke this tradition. The year Sridevi died, he chose not to celebrate their anniversary.

Singer Sangeeth on 'Chotta Mumbai' re-release and ‘Nombaram Kalayum Naalam Nee': The response has been overwhelming, I'd call it nothing short of a miracle
Mohanlal's 'Chotta Mumbai' is experiencing a resurgence, particularly the song 'Thala,' where singer Sangeeth's brief stanza has captured widespread attention. Sangeeth, a former Super Singer winner, expresses his excitement over the overwhelming response to his lines, which he describes as a blessing. Another song from the film, though initially cut, is also gaining popularity on social media. In Mollywood, it's becoming a trend for evergreen films to make a comeback and create waves once more. From Devadoothan to Manichithrathazhu, these classics continue to offer unmatched cinematic experiences for film lovers. Now, joining that list is Mohanlal's 2007 hit Chotta Mumbai. But this time, it's not the film itself stealing the spotlight—it's a song, or more specifically, a single stanza from it that's topping the charts all over again. Yes, you heard that right. In the film's iconic high-energy track Thala, there's a brief four-line segment that completely transforms the mood of the song—thanks to the soulful voice of singer Sangeeth. As the track resurged in popularity across social media, we caught up with the former Super Singer winner to hear his thoughts on the overwhelming response. 'No words… I'm truly overwhelmed by the response. It feels like a real blessing. The film is being celebrated again, and the song—especially my lines—feels like pure bliss. Those four lines… that's where Sangeeth lives in it,' the singer shared with excitement. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The singer, who recently watched the film during its 4K re-release, shared that he was deeply moved by the audience's reaction in the theatre. 'I watched the movie at Kavitha Theatre, and when the song came on, it turned into a full-blown celebration. People were singing along and completely immersed in the moment—it was overwhelming. Experiencing the song, along with the background score, in such enhanced sound quality was truly something else. All credit goes to music director Rahul Raj ," he said. Reflecting on his experience recording the song, Sangeeth revealed that it came as a complete surprise to him at the time. 'Soon after winning Super Star, I got a call from the channel about a singing opportunity. I assumed it was for some show. But when they told me it was for a Mohanlal movie, I was beyond thrilled. I went to the studio to record Poonilamazha Nanayum, and it went well. Just as I was about to leave, Rahul Raj asked if I'd like to try singing a small stanza from another song. Why would I say no? So I sang that part too. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine those four lines would be celebrated like this years later. The full song was sung by the legendary Shankar Mahadevan , and for someone like him, those lines would've been a breeze. But by sheer luck, Rahul wanted to try it in my voice. That song gave me a life,' he said. Not to forget, there was another song in the Chotta Mumbai album—a romantic track sung by Sangeeth and Sangeetha Prabhu. Although the song didn't make it to the final cut of the movie, it has recently found a second life on social media, especially gaining traction on Instagram reels. 'Thanks to social media, this song didn't go completely unnoticed. Even though it wasn't included in the movie, it got attention on FM stations during the film's release. But now, thanks to Instagram, the song has made a comeback. Fan-made videos have breathed new life into it. I feel truly blessed—it's rare for an artist to receive recognition all over again for something they recorded years ago. I'd honestly call it a miracle,' he concluded.
