Walid Abbas
The Egyptian club Al-Ahly is one of the most frequently participating clubs in the Club World Cup, holding the record for the most appearances by an African and Arab club in the tournament, with a total of 9 participations since its inception in 2000 until the latest edition.
2000 - Brazil
Al-Ahly's first appearance in the tournament was shocking for its fans, as they were eliminated in the group stage after losing two matches against Real Madrid (2-1) and Raja Casablanca (1-0).
2005 - Japan
Al-Ahly returned to participate after winning the African Champions League, but they lost to Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia (1-0) and São Paulo of Brazil, finishing in sixth place.
2006 - Japan
This edition saw one of their best performances, as they secured third place and the bronze medal after defeating Club América from Mexico (2-1) and losing in the semifinals to Internacional of Brazil narrowly.
2008 - Japan
They were eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing to Pachuca from Mexico, finishing in sixth place.
*2012 - Japan*
Al-Ahly overcame Sanfrecce Hiroshima of Japan, but later lost to Corinthians of Brazil, ultimately finishing in fourth place after defeat by Monterrey of Mexico.
2013 - Morocco
This was a forgettable participation, as they lost to Guangzhou Evergrande of China (2-0) and then to Monterrey (5-1), finishing in seventh place.
*2020 - Qatar*
One of Al-Ahly's best editions, where they achieved third place after defeating Palmeiras of Brazil in a penalty shootout, following a loss to Bayern Munich by two goals to nil.
2021 - UAE
Al-Ahly again secured third place after winning against Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia with a score of 3-0, despite injuries and absences.
2023 - Saudi Arabia (Jeddah)
They were eliminated in the second round following a surprising loss to Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia (3-1) in an exciting match.
It is worth mentioning that from their 9 participations, they have achieved 3 bronze medals (2006 - 2020, 2021).

Cristiano Ronaldo Extends Contract with Al-Nassr Until 2027

H-Tayea Saudi club Al-Nassr has officially announced the contract extension of Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, confirming that the 40-year-old forward will continue with the team until 2027. Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr in January 2023, was initially set to see his contract expire on June 30, 2025. The extension adds two more years to his stay with the club, marking a continued chapter in his Middle Eastern football journey. In a post on the club's official X (formerly Twitter) account, Al-Nassr shared a video of Ronaldo standing on a beach with the caption: "Al-Nassr forever. The journey continues with our legendary captain." The announcement was followed by a photo of Ronaldo and club president Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Majed holding a personalized jersey with '2027' printed on the back, symbolizing the new deal. Ronaldo has been instrumental in Al-Nassr's recent campaigns and remains a central figure both on and off the pitch for the club and Saudi football's global ambitions. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Vinicius, Mbappe have to defend: Real Madrid's Alonso

Last season under Carlo Ancelotti Los Blancos failed to win a major trophy and the Italian was at times exasperated with his forward line's unwillingness to work hard enough for the sake of the team as a whole. "What I am certain of is that we need and want everyone to defend -- the 11 players on the pitch have to be involved defensively," Alonso told a news conference ahead of Madrid's Club World Cup clash against RB Salzburg. "They have to get close together, they have to know how we want to press, and without that, things will be very complicated. "Vini, Jude (Bellingham), Fede (Valverde), Kylian, those up front, the defence has to push forward too." Ancelotti said last season that he was not concerned if Mbappe pressed or not and wanted the striker to focus on goalscoring. The 26-year-old netted 43 goals across all competitions in his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu after his move from Paris Saint-Germain. Real Madrid face Austrian side Salzburg in Philadelphia on Thursday, looking to seal top spot in their final Group H match, but will be without Mbappe. The French superstar was not named as part of the squad to take on Salzburg as he continues his recovery from a stomach bug. Mbappe missed the team's first two matches but returned to training on Wednesday. "I was happy to see him on the (training) pitch, it was the first day he's got his boots back on and has been running, he's doing well, but not enough to play tomorrow with the level that we need," said Alonso. "He said it himself when we spoke after training, he prefers to be ready for the last 16, he's in the recovery process, he wasn't perfect for tomorrow." In Madrid's second match, a 3-1 win over Mexican side Pachuca, Brazilian forward Rodrygo was left on the bench, amid speculation he could depart the club this summer. However, Alonso said the Brazilian was still a valuable member of the team. "He's doing well, he's enthusiastic, it was a technical decision (to bench him) the other day, but Rodrygo is still an important player, we will need him in this Club World Cup," said Alonso. "He's a special player and he will have a big role at this tournament."
