DANIELSON, Conn. (WNTH) — A Danielson man is facing charges after police say he illegally collected thousands of dollars in workers' compensation.

According to the arrest warrant, Bishop reported getting injured on Oct. 17, 2022, working as a long-haul truck driver for PepsiCo's Frito-Lay Killingly facility. He claimed he hurt his left neck and shoulder area while lifting and holding large boxes of potato chips over his head. Medical professionals said suffered a cervical spine injury and had Bishop work modified duty and fewer hours each workday.
Police said he had allegedly extended his 90-day allotment of light-duty work restrictions by his job and was placed in Temporary Total Disability by a health care provider until he could be determined to work full duty by a physician, authorities said.
A surveillance revealed that while he was receiving workers' compensation for his injury, he was engaging in activities like operating an ATV and lifting heavy objects.
Bishop surrendered himself on March 4 and was released on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Danielson on April 22.
He was cleared to return to work in January 2024 and was terminated on Feb. 29, 2024.

The mother of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop, who hasn't been seen or heard from since failing to check in for a booked flight in Australia on May 15, has shared an emotional post after Queensland Police confirmed what was believed to be human remains had been found "I didn't think my heart could break anymore [than] it did when you went missing, or when the charges [were] laid, but this! This is ripping me apart…" Kylie Johnson wrote on Facebook Police noted the remains haven't yet been identified, but said that Bishop's family had been notifiedThe mother of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop, who disappeared just over three weeks ago after failing to check in for a booked flight in Australia, has shared a heartbreaking post after police confirmed human remains had been found amid the search for her daughter. Bishop, 17, hasn't been seen or heard from since being taken to Bundaberg Regional Airport in Queensland on May 15 around 8:30 a.m. local time, Queensland Police previously said in a May 19 news release. On Friday, June 6, police confirmed authorities had found what was believed to be human remains at around 2:30 p.m. local time "following a search of an area near Good Night Scrub National Park near Gin Gin," per a release. "The remains are yet to be formally identified; however, investigators are in contact with the family of missing 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop," the post stated. Sharing a link to the release on her Facebook page, Bishop's mom, Kylie Johnson, wrote that the news was "ripping" her "apart." She posted, "I didn't think my heart could break anymore [than] it did when you went missing, or when the charges [were] laid," she added. Friday's police release stated, "A crime scene has been declared at the location and forensic examinations are continuing." "Police continue to appeal for any information in relation to Pheobe Bishop or the movement of a grey Hyundai IX35 between May 15 to 18 in the greater Gin Gin area," the post added. Johnson's message came hours after she thanked her "amazing community" while revealing that a candlelit vigil would be held in Bishop's memory on Sunday, June 8. "Honestly we have received calls, [texts] and so many messages of support. Like most rural families, we are resilient, proud, and stron,g but this has brought us to our knees like no drought ever could," she wrote, while resharing a poster on Facebook. "This vigil is a way of our family acknowledging Pheobe's impact on our community, their efforts, and the importance of a community that cares! For those reasons, this is an important part of a community's healing. While we don't have Phee home to put to rest just yet, our community needs the healing process to start," Johnson added. The poster told attendees at the upcoming vigil, set to take place at Kolan Community Park in Gin Gin, to "please wear bright colors and butterflies and bring a candle if you wish." Queensland Police didn't have any additional updates in the case when contacted by PEOPLE. "Please note, we have not confirmed the identity of the remains as we will be awaiting forensic testing, which may take some time to come back," a police spokesperson said in an email. Friday's tragic news came after police confirmed in a release on Thursday that a 34-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman had been charged in connection with Bishop's death. Local outlets, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), SBS World News and reported that the suspects were Bishop's housemates James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33. "Our world has just been shattered into the most horrific place I've ever been…" Johnson wrote on Facebook alongside a link to the police release. Queensland Police Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson previously said that Bishop had been dropped off near the airport by "associates" but didn't enter the terminal, according to the ABC, adding that she "had a flight booked to Brisbane and then on to WA [Western Australia] to visit a friend." According to Daily Mail Australia, Wood had spoken to the outlet about the morning Bishop disappeared, just hours before he was taken into police custody. Wood claimed that Bishop, who was reportedly planning to get on a flight to see her boyfriend, had been "furious" after sleeping "through her alarm" on the morning of her trip. He said he and his partner Bromley had driven her to the airport, but Bishop had been concerned about missing her flight. "We just wanted to get her checked in and thought if we can just get there she will calm down," Wood told Daily Mail Australia of the drive. He said that they ended up stopping the car on Airport Drive, just over half a mile from the terminal, to give the teenager "five minutes." Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage? Teen Girl Disappeared on Way to Airport — and Police Say Those Closest to Her May Be Involved
Pheobe Bishop, 17, has been missing since May 15 Police have been investigating her disappearance as a homicide, though Bishop has not been found Queensland Police announced Thursday that two adults — one of whom is reported to be Bishop's housemate — have been charged in connection with her deathAn Australian teen's housemates reportedly have been charged with murder nearly a month after she vanished on her way to board a flight across the country. The Queensland Police Service said in a press release on Thursday that a 34-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman have been charged in connection with 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop's death. Australia's ABC News, SBS World News and report the suspects are Bishop's housemates James Wood, 34, and Tanika Kristan Bromley, 33. "They have been charged with one count each of murder and two counts each of interfering with a corpse," police said, adding that they are both due to appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday. The news comes one day after it was reported that Wood had been arrested and questioned regarding Bishop's disappearance, according to Australia's ABC News and The Bundaberg girl has been missing since Thursday, May 15, according to the Queensland Police Service. "The remains of Pheobe Bishop have not been located to date," Queensland Police said Thursday. "Detectives continue to investigate this matter, and physical searches will continue as needed as information is provided." Police say investigators "have conducted several enquiries during their investigations, including multiple searches of Good Night Scrub National Park, forensic examinations of a Gin Gin property and vehicle." Wood was initially released on Thursday, June 5, with no charges filed, according to ABC News and Bishop was last seen leaving a property in Gin Gin, where she lived with two housemates, in a grey Hyundai, according to Wood spoke with The Daily Mail this week and said Bishop was experiencing 'heightened emotions' prior to her trip to visit her boyfriend, adding that she 'smashed' a TV prior to her disappearance. 'She does have a temper but she is not a bad kid, she is actually a great kid,' Wood told the outlet. "She is kind and smart and has good manners but she was living with us because she couldn't live at home anymore.' Wood told the outlet he and Bromley drove Bishop to the airport but then ended up stopping the car on Airport Drive, just over half a mile from the terminal in order to "give her five minutes - give her her own space to do what she needed to do" to get ready for the flight. The 34-year-old man told The Daily Mail that Bishop was allegedly gone by the time he and Bromley returned to the car and they assumed she had gotten on her flight. "It was maybe five minutes, maybe it was three minutes or maybe it was eight but that's about how long we were gone," Wood claimed in the interview. Police said the missing teen was spotted 'carrying luggage' that morning on Airport Drive, but 'did not check in for a flight and has not been seen or heard from since.' In a previous update, police revealed that some items had been 'located during the search and have been seized for forensic examination' that they believed were 'linked to the investigation.'Meanwhile, Bishop's mother, Kylie Johnson, has posted multiple updates on Facebook amid her daughter's disappearance. She also read an official family statement in a video recently released by police, PEOPLE previously reported. 'Hi, I'm Kylie. I'm Pheobe's mom. Our lives have been changed for the worse after the sudden disappearance of my daughter, who was last seen on May 15,' Johnson said in the video, which was posted on a crime watch Facebook group for the Queensland area on Saturday, May 31. 'This is a pain no person or family should ever have to experience,' the mother continued. 'Pheobe was a beautiful, loving, kind person, and every day not knowing where she has been is devastating for us.' Read the original article on People
