Distraught LA woman, 52, shares what violent homeless man did to her in unprovoked attack
The terrifying incident unfolded on June 18 as 52-year-old Donna DeChristopher was walking home from errands near her residence on Sunset Drive in Los Angeles - a neighborhood she describes as usually safe and walkable.
She said she spotted a homeless man she had seen before - believed to be living in a nearby encampment not far from Thomas Starr King Middle School - when he suddenly sprinted toward her and began attacking her without warning.
The man, described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, allegedly punched her in the face three or four times before fleeing the scene.
DeChristopher lost consciousness and believed she may have been hit again while on the ground.
She wrote in a Facebook post that she was initially taken to Hollywood Presbyterian, but due to the severity of her injuries, she had to be transferred to Dignity California's trauma center, where doctors worked to stop a brain bleed and assess the extent of damage to her eye.
She was left with a broken nose, stitches, and significant trauma to her face. Facial recognition software reportedly failed to identify her due to the swelling when she attempted to call 911.
Doctors initially feared her retina had detached, but she avoided surgery for now.
She has no idea who the man is or what prompted the attack - noting he didn't try to rob her and simply ran off after pummeling her.
A Good Samaritan who witnessed the brutal scene came to her aid and called for help.
'I know that so much is going on right now, but this should not be falling through the cracks,' DeChristopher told KTLA News.
'If this happens to me, I'm vocal. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. Who else has he attacked that he has hurt that is too afraid to come forward? Who is he going to hurt the next time he's out on the streets?'
Councilmember Nithya Raman, who represents the district, responded with a statement: 'While our work has yielded results, including a 40 per cent drop in the number of people living on the streets in our district last year, much more remains to be done and we will continue to deploy every resource available toward address this issue.'
The Los Angeles Police Department arrested a homeless man believed to be responsible several days later.
He reportedly had a warrant for his arrest and a history of trespassing in the area.
He is currently being held without bail.
The horrifying assault came just days before another unprovoked attack unfolded across town in Brentwood, where a gardener was beaten with a large stick by a homeless man furious over yard work noise.
Rodolfo Roman was working at a home on June 23 when a shirtless man believed to be squatting in a nearby abandoned property stormed over and began screaming and cursing at him.
Ring camera footage captured the moment the man launched into a violent attack, striking Roman repeatedly in the head, face, and arm.
The savage beating left Roman covered in blood, with a broken arm and a deep head wound requiring staples.

Shelter in place issued after mountain lion spotted in New York
Residents in an upstate New York neighborhood are on high alert after a shelter-in-place order was issued over a possible mountain lion sighting. Rochester police were alerted to a viral social media video showing a massive cat, followed by a flurry of calls from alarmed residents who feared they had seen a wild animal far from its natural habitat, according to 13 WHAM News. Some residents even claimed they came face-to-face with the feline as it calmly strolled down the street, fueling panic over the whereabouts of the elusive predator. 'After I see the people run, I just see something big, just walking just right over there - it went right over there I swear, I promise you, it went right over there,' Curtis Jones, who said he saw the beast while on a walk, told 13 WHAM. 'It said "rawr."' 'I don't play with lions, I don't play with tigers, bears, nothing in the wild, I don't play with those, I promise you,' Jones added. 'I don't even do rollercoasters. I'm good.' A shelter-in-place was quickly issued on Wednesday, but later lifted after police were unable to confirm the presence of a large cat. The Rochester Police Department first learned of the potential incident through a social media video - captured by an outdoor Ring security camera - showing a large animal slowly pacing along a row of residential homes. Several sighting reports also poured in, including one near North Clinton Avenue and Rauber Street just after midnight on Thursday - the very spot where Jones just so happened to be out for a walk. While out on his walk, Jones said he saw several people frantically running from what looked unmistakably like a mountain lion. 'I just kept walking,' Jones told 13 WHAM. 'I seen it, seeing me, see it - so in my head, I'm like, "Nah, I got to go man, I'm out."' 'I heard the "rawr." I felt that "rawr,"' he added. 'I knew to keep it pushing. I knew that.' 'It was just walking, slithering - I don't know man.' Although the shelter-in-place was lifted shortly after being issued, an investigation was launched with assistance from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, which deployed an aerial drone to scan the area, but found no trace of a mountain lion. The Seneca Park Zoo, located in Rochester, also confirmed that none of its animals were missing or had escaped their enclosures. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is also assisting with the investigation, but Rochester police have stated that none of the reported sightings have been confirmed, according to the outlet. According to the department, which reviewed the doorbell video, the animal does appear to be a potential cougar - though they caution there's no way to confirm its authenticity or rule out possible editing at this time. However, they noted that if the animal is indeed a cougar, it's unlikely to be wild - more likely an escaped captive, possibly kept illegally as a pet. In a statement to 13 WHAM, the DEC said they are 'actively investigating the reports of a big cat in a Rochester neighborhood and determining if there is evidence to validate the images.' 'DEC reminds the public to treat an encounter like any other with a large, potentially dangerous wild animal or unfamiliar dog,' the statement added. 'Keep a safe distance, and slowly back away. Only take photos from a very safe distance and immediately report it to law enforcement.' But despite extensive search efforts, residents remain on edge - worried that law enforcement couldn't locate the animal. Jones, in particular, has been patrolling the neighborhood armed with a bat, unsettled by what he saw. 'I am going to keep this bat right here, man, just in case,' Jones told 13 WHAM on Thursday. 'I am going to protect us, I ain't going to let nothing happen to us, nothing. OK?' 'They ain't find it last night, it's still out here, it could be out here in one of these bushes or something,' he added. 'You know, a mountain lion, it be "rawr." They be crawling and... serious.' Police are urging the public to remain vigilant while authorities work to verify the video's authenticity. Residents are advised to stay indoors and call 911 immediately if they encounter a large cat. 'DEC encourages the public to submit reports if they observe this animal, especially if they obtain photo or video evidence,' the statement to 13 WHAM read. 'These reports can be directed to the regional wildlife office at 585-226-5380 or r8wildlife@ or directed to DEC Environmental Conservation Officer dispatch after-hours or on weekends at 844-332-3267.' The last confirmed cougar sighting in New York was back in 2011, when the elusive beast trekked thousands of miles - from South Dakota, through Michigan's Upper Peninsula, all the way down eastern New York and into Connecticut, according to the DEC.

Arizona Cardinals legend Luis Sharpe has died at the age of 65. Sharpe's wife, Tameka, made the announcement on social media on Saturday. 'With deep sorrow and abiding love, I share that my beloved husband, Luis Sharpe, has passed away,' she wrote on Facebook. 'His strength, love, and faith were a light to all who knew him. I am grateful for every moment we shared and for the many prayers and kindnesses extended to our family. 'Though my heart is heavy, I trust that Luis is now resting in God's eternal peace. Please continue to keep our family lifted in prayer.' Cuban-born Sharpe played for the Cardinals for 13 seasons after being drafted by the franchise in the first round in 1982. He made the move from St. Louis to Arizona and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1987, 1988 and 1989. Sharpe is regarded as the team's greatest-ever left tackle. Sharpe struggled with drug and alcohol addiction in the years after retiring, and was arrested multiple times. He was also shot twice doing drug deals that went awry but announced in December 2024 that he was eight years sober. 'As an athlete, my self-esteem came from the applause of the fans and all of the accolades I received – that's what filled me,' Sharpe told the Detroit Free Press. 'But after being homeless, penniless and hopeless, I have more peace and more joy than I did during my NFL days because God has taken my mess and turned it into a message.'

BREAKING NEWS FBI director Kash Patel breaks silence over 'conspiracy theories' amid bitter Epstein row
FBI Director Kash Patel has publicly dismissed speculation he is set to walk out amid conspiracies surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein case. Patel spoke out to address a rumored rift inside the Trump administration over the Justice Department's handling of the long-awaited Epstein files. 'The conspiracy theories just aren't true, never have been,' Patel posted on X. 'It's an honor to serve the President of the United States @realDonaldTrump — and I'll continue to do so for as long as he calls on me.' Patel's remarks follow reports of a heated internal dispute involving FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and Attorney General Pam Bondi. The clash reportedly stemmed from an unsigned memo released on Sunday with DOJ and FBI seals, that concluded Epstein did not get murdered in prison and that none of the available evidence included a so-called 'client list'. The Attorney General has defended the memo, citing court orders and the protection of victims' identities as legal barriers to further disclosure. Bongino gave an ultimatum over the Justice Department's handling of the sensitive files, the Daily Mail can reveal, claiming he 'is considering resigning' if Bondi does not step down. Bongino reportedly 'took the day off' from work on Friday, Axios reported, and a source close to Bongino said 'he ain't coming back'. Despite affirmation from the Attorney General, backlash to the memo has been particularly fierce among figures who anticipated major revelations tied to Epstein's network. Critics have also accused Patel and Bongino of retreating from earlier pledges for full transparency. Maryland Democratic Representative Jeremy Raskin said he will urge House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan to subpoena Bondi, Patel and Bongino for questioning on the Epstien files, The Independent reported. 'I'm gonna be asking Chairman Jordan to call for a hearing where we subpoena the attorney general and Dan Bongino and Kash Patel to come in and tell us everything that we know because this thing is really spinning out of control at this point,' Raskin said. 'And there's one way to put it to rest, which is to come clean, as President Trump promised he would during the campaign.' The Attorney General, pam Bondi, has defended the memo, citing court orders and the protection of victims' identities as legal barriers to further disclosure Despite mounting pressure, Patel's statement signals his intention to remain in his post and continue supporting former Trump's second-term agenda. A White House spokesperson called the resignation rumors 'baseless'. 'President Trump has assembled a highly qualified and experienced law and order team dedicated to protecting Americans, holding criminals accountable, and delivering justice to victims,' Spokesperson Harrison Fields told The Independent Saturday. 'This work is being carried out seamlessly and with unity. Any attempt to sow division within this team is baseless and distracts from the real progress being made in restoring public safety and pursuing justice for all.'
