Global collaboration meet to drive global tech partnerships

Global Collaboration partners from United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, USA, France, Netherlands, Singapore, Israel, Poland, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, South Korea, Morocco, Vietnam, Czech Republic and other International Agencies were also present on this occasion.
The Global Innovation Alliance (GIA), an initiative of the Department of Electronics, IT, and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka, fosters partnerships with leading tech and innovation nations. Launched in 2017 under the Karnataka Unit for International Co-operation (KUIC), the GIA network has expanded from 10 countries in 2018 to over 35 nations by 2025.
The Global Collaboration Meet was convened to further strengthen cross-border collaboration in the lead-up to the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025, scheduled to take place from 18–20 November at BIEC, Bengaluru.
Dr Ekroop Caur shared an insightful overview of the Summit, highlighting the unique opportunities it offers for partner countries to showcase their cutting-edge technologies, government initiatives, leading industry players and academic excellence on a global stage through participation in the international exhibition, conference and country delegations.Dr. Caur also presented the various outreach activities under the GIA Initiative.

Over 6k students allotted MBA, MCA seats
Ahmedabad: The admission committee for professional courses (ACPC), Gujarat, released the Round 2 allotment results for MBA and MCA admissions on July 28. A total of 6,168 candidates confirmed their registration by paying the required fees. Additionally, 120 candidates applied for both MBA and MCA programmes. In Round 2, a total of 2,456 candidates completed their choice filling by July 25. For MBA hopefuls, Round 2 saw 2,589 seats allotted out of 14,864 total seats across 128 institutes. This included 551 new admissions, 148 students who c institutions, and 1,890 who stuck with their Round 1 placements. Govt and govt-in-aid (GIA) institutes filled 482 of their 531 seats, while self-financed institutes (SFI) allotted 2,107 out of 14,333 seats. In the MCA domain, 1,871 seats were allotted in Round 2 from a total of 8,155 seats across 90 participating institutes. This included 763 new admissions, 132 institute changes, and 976 students who retained their Round 1 allotments. All 388 seats in govt and GIA institutes were filled, with 1,483 seats allotted in self-financed institutes from a pool of 7,767. Candidates allotted seats in this round are required to confirm their admission by paying the fees online between July 28 and July 30.

Wipro Infrastructure sets up new business division; to invest ₹500 crore
Engineering and manufacturing solutions provider Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) on Monday announced the launch of a new business division dedicated to manufacturing high-performance base materials for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). As part of the new division Wipro Electronic Materials, the company is establishing a Copper Clad Laminate (CCL) manufacturing facility in Karnataka, with an investment of approximately Rs 500 crore, which will create around 350 jobs. The manufacturing plant will produce over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates and corresponding pre-impregnated materials, according to a company statement. "Wipro Electronic Materials marks a first-of-its-kind investment in India's electronics manufacturing landscape, made possible through the timely support of the Government of Karnataka and MeitY. "By giving Indian manufacturers reliable access to locally produced, high-quality materials, we are strengthening supply chain resilience and accelerating global competitiveness," Pratik Kumar, CEO of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) & MD of Wipro Enterprises, said. Currently, India imports 100 per cent of copper-clad laminates, the company said. This facility will support rapidly growing sectors such as telecommunications, automotive electronics, consumer devices, industrial systems, and AI (artificial intelligence) infrastructure. India, UK mark one year of tech security initiative, unveil new plans for AI, 6G, critical minerals
London : India and the UK reaffirmed their commitment to the Technology Security Initiative (TSI) on the first anniversary of the deal, celebrating a year of transformative collaboration in frontier technologies to drive economic growth and strengthen national security, as stated in a statement issued by the UK Government on Thursday. According to the statement, the TSI, launched in 2024 when UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy visited India last year, has achieved significant milestones in telecom, artificial intelligence (AI), critical minerals, and biotechnology, highlighting partnerships among industry, academia, and government. "Both parties welcomed the Initiative's achievements to date and underscored the transformative potential of the TSI to deliver cutting-edge innovations and generate investment across the entire technology value chain," the statement read. The statement noted key milestones during the past year under the initiative, which include a GBP 7 million joint research programme on Future Telecoms, supporting Open RAN and 5G and 6G testbed development, and collaboration between India's Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and the UK's Smart RAN Open Network Interoperability Centre (SONIC). The first UK-India Conference on AI, held in Bengaluru in February 2025, advanced responsible AI development. Meanwhile, the Critical Minerals Supply Chain Observatory completed its first phase, with GBP 1.8 million allocated for Phase Two to establish a digital data infrastructure and a satellite campus at the Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad, as noted in the statement. Additionally, a partnership between the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and India's Department of Biotechnology (DBT) in FEMTECH has strengthened women-orientated health technology. The India-UK Vision 2035 reaffirms both nations' shared commitment to unlocking the full potential of the revitalised partnership, which was announced following the signing of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
