Chet Holmgren is silencing all concerns just days before Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers. After suffering a noticeable ankle twist in Game 4, Thunder fans feared the worst.
But Holmgren, who's played a critical role in OKC's Finals run, seems determined to push through the pain. With the series locked at 2-2, his health has become a storyline almost as important as the basketball itself.

Chet Holmgren plays through pain as the OKC Thunder prepare to regain control at home. In Game 4, Holmgren's grit was tested early. A hard drive to the rim saw the 7-foot-1 forward collapse, clutching his left ankle and wincing in pain.
His reaction was concerning, but what followed spoke volumes about his resolve. As he lay on the hardwood, he looked up to see Shai Gilgeous-Alexander towering over him. The Thunder's MVP asked, 'You OK?' and then gave a direct charge: 'C'mon man.
We need you. Get up.'
Holmgren got up and stayed in the fight. Despite rolling the ankle multiple times, he powered through 37 minutes of action, contributing 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Down the stretch, he made the Pacers pay for trying to exploit what they thought was a weakness. Tyrese Haliburton, in particular, found himself settling for tough shots rather than beating Holmgren to the rim.

Even after tweaking the ankle again later in the game, Holmgren showed no signs of slowing down. His rebounding dominance has been a constant, leading both teams in that category this series. According to The Oklahoman, Holmgren told reporters at Sunday's practice that 'it's fine,' while moving without restriction in front of media during open sessions.
With Monday's Game 5 at the Paycom Center, the Thunder once again hold home-court advantage. But certainly, they'll need Holmgren to be close to full strength to make that a reality.
