I filmed a myself having sex - I was shocked it turned me on
Scrolling through my phone, I paused on the dirty clip I had all but forgotten about.
After I pressed play, a nude figure appeared on the screen, sitting on the edge of a bed with come-hither eyes.
Clearly she was waiting for her lover to give his next instruction.
At first, you can only see his feet but then the camera suddenly angled upwards, exposing his crown jewels in all their glory.
As he approached her, the sexual tension was palpable, which made a smile spread across my face because I knew exactly what happened next.
And not just because I've watched this film before – or because porn plots are pretty obvious. See, this is actually my very own sex tape.
That's right, I was the star of this show.
While some people might cringe at the thought of making a homemade flick, filming myself during sex has never really phased me. In fact, I find it exciting.
That's likely because I spent several years in long distance on-again, off-again relationships where technology played a huge part.

Conversation is all well and good but sometimes you just want to cum, even if it is through a phone.
So when I once dated someone who lived around hundreds of miles away, and we had plenty of video sex.
Granted, that's a little different from filming the act itself, but it certainly got me comfortable with seeing my body from every angle and on a screen.
Then around 10 years ago, an ex of mine suggested we pull out the camera during sex.
I was open to the idea and before I knew it, we were watching ourselves during our very own 'live show', shagging in the missionary position. He held the phone camera up with the lens facing towards us and pushed record.
I had no apprehensions – because I trusted my partner implicitly – and we had a lot of fun making our two-minute-long clip.
I'm not sure what else the lens captured though because we deleted our homemade porn straight afterwards.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big champion for enjoying the look and feel of your own body. It deserves your attention.
But it's one thing to spend some time in front of the mirror looking at your beautiful shape (which I urge you to do) – it's quite another to see your own sex face in action and at that time I wasn't quite ready to see that.
To some extent I still felt that way a few years later when my partner, Beau*, first suggested we film ourselves having sex using his phone.
I truly never thought I'd watch the clip back and I had every intention of deleting it once we were finished, but I must have forgotten. Now I'd stumbled across the sexy video again and I couldn't help but be intrigued.
At first, as I watched the scene unfold, I was a little embarrassed. Then I realised that I was sitting alone in my bedroom with no one looking over my shoulder, and so I decided to just go for it.
I was shocked to discover just how hot it can be to watch yourself have sex. I also hadn't expected it to be a turn-on but it definitely was.
Some people may consider this egomaniacal or self-involved, which is your prerogative. But my pleasure didn't come from admiring myself on screen, but rather memories that the film brought back.
The clip was only about 60 seconds long – I'm not even sure it falls under the category of sex tape, but that's besides the point – but it still made my toes curl as I thought about how much fun I'd had that night and what followed after we'd put the phone down.
It also gave me a confidence boost of sorts.
Rather than feel critical of my frame (I have hang-ups just like anyone else) I felt brave for exposing myself. More than that, rediscovering my sex tape helped me see my body in a new light.
Agree on the content ahead of time
Don't rush into it
Try foreplay before the camera starts rolling
Don't be afraid to stick to what you know
Protect your tape
And I'm not the only one.
Ten years ago, a YouGov poll found that 16% of Britons aged 25 to 39 years old had turned the camera on themselves while 3% of those aged over 60 had also made their own sex tapes.
I don't have any proof but I suspect that number could be much higher now, especially as phone cameras have improved!
So if you, like me, feel excited by the thought of turning the camera on yourself during a sexy set-up – go for it.
You could role play, dress up and live out your wildest fantasy on screen. Or just do what my lovers and I did, and keep the set-up more casual.
But before you pick up the camera, remember there are risks to documenting your sex life in this way.
If you're making an amateur sex tape with someone else, there needs to be clear boundaries on what happens to the clip once you're finished: I highly recommend you do this with someone you know and trust, rather than turning a one-night-stand or casual hook-up into your very own horny home movie.
And please, keep any sensitive images or videos of this kind in a password-protected folder.
In my case, I only said yes to filming our sex act because I had control over what would happen with the material.
Beau told me that he was fine with keeping our clip on my phone because his face wasn't visible – only mine was – and therefore I knew that I was more at risk, should it be leaked.
Out of respect to my boyfriend, I have since deleted the evidence of my fabulously torrid past long ago. I don't feel the need to relive those sexual experiences because my sex life is now pretty great. More Trending
Our current bedroom activities don't need spicing up, but I will say it got me thinking: perhaps it's time to film things again with my partner?
To be continued in private, or behind the camera…

Fishguard Sports edge Camrose in dramatic Division Two Cup Final
A FISHGUARD amateur rider has qualified for the prestigious Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) following a standout performance at a major qualifier in Warwickshire. Hannah Jenkins and her eye-catching grey horse, Le Paz—known as Balou at home—secured victory in the Working Horse class at the SEIB Search for a Star qualifier held at Stoneleigh Park on Saturday (May 25). Judged by top showing experts Nicola Taylor and Richard Ramsay, the win earns the pair a coveted place in the HOYS finals at the NEC Birmingham this October. Hannah, who works full-time as an intensive care nurse, spoke of the challenges she faced juggling work commitments and competition preparation. The pair narrowly missed qualification at an earlier event at Hartpury University, where they finished runners-up. 'Hartpury was originally the only qualifier I could do,' she said. 'After we came second there, I thought, 'I'm going to have to try again now,' so I swapped my shifts around so we could come here today.' Balou originally came to Hannah on loan from her best friend, who bred him. 'I had twin boys and she knew I got on with Balou and wanted to help me get back in the saddle,' Hannah explained. 'He came to stay and never left. I've owned him since last summer and I love him to bits.' Nicolina MacKenzie, organiser of SEIB Search for a Star, praised Hannah's determination and the ethos of the competition. 'Search for a Star is all about the journey—learning and improving over time. Our team of judges and stewards are committed to supporting competitors and helping them achieve their potential.' The SEIB Search for a Star series, launched in 1996, has opened the door for thousands of amateur riders to compete at national level, including at HOYS and Your Horse Live. Qualifiers take place throughout the country, offering a broad range of classes for amateur show riders. For more information and updates, visit or the SEIB Search for a Star Facebook page. Entries can be made via the Showing Scene platform. SEIB has been providing specialist equestrian insurance for over 60 years, offering tailored cover for horses, riders, horseboxes, trailers, and businesses. More details can be found at

7 best shows to binge if you're already missing Doctor Who after finale
The second season of Doctor Who's run with Ncuti Gatwa came to an end this Saturday, capping off a batch of episodes that introduced a new companion and forever changed the show's lore. It was a lot of take in, as we travelled along through eight episodes trying to return Belinda (Varada Sethu) to her home planet. So if, like us, you're reeling from the two-part finale in the Tardis, we have some palate cleanser TV shows you can turn to while we wait for news of what is next in the Whoniverse. We don't yet know when – or even (gulp) if – the beloved BBC show will be back on air. So what better time to get stuck into something similar? We've compiled a list of shows to turn to in your time of need, some of which even feature characters Whovians will already know. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. From Doctor Who spin-offs to shows that are just a bit timey-wimey, here are seven options to fill that Tardis-shaped hole in your life. This a Doctor Who spin-off for the younger ones in the house, starring one of the most beloved companions to ever travel across the universe at the Doctor's side. Sarah Jane Smith, played by the late great Elisabeth Sladen, joined the Third and Fourth Doctors in the 70s. This might have first aired on CBBC, but it has everything an adult Whovian can enjoy – including guest appearances from David Tennant and Matt Smith. This answers the question of what becomes of those the Doctor has crossed paths with and teases the possibility that there's always a Slitheen or the Judoon just around the corner, even on a humdrum suburban street. The Sarah Jane Adventures is available to stream on BBC iPlayer. Another hit Doctor Who spin-off, but Torchwood is definitely not for kids. This is Doctor Who with a dark, sexy and violent rebrand – in this instance, you might have to tune in to get a sense of what we mean. The BBC miniseries stars the Ninth Doctor's companion Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and his team at the covert Torchwood Institute, which is much like UNIT in today's Who, and lends a hand to fend aliens off from humanity when the Doctor is otherwise indisposed. That is, when they're not dealing with heaps of personal drama at the institute. The third season Torchwood: Children of Earth is a must-see for any tried and tested Whovian. Torchwood is available to stream on BBC iPlayer. Over a decade since it first aired, Sherlock was pure appointment viewing at the time. If you didn't tune it, how would you avoid being spoiled the following day? But if you somehow missed the moment and are in need of a brainbox-led show like Doctor Who, who's brainier than Sherlock Holmes? Benedict Cumberbatch stars as the aloof, scarf-toting genius and has Martin Freeman as Watson, forever side-eyeing next to him. The cast popping up along the way is exceptional and the writing superb. Just try not to feel too inferior to Holmes when you fail to crack the case. Sherlock is available to stream on BBC iPlayer. Have you ever watched a Jurassic Park film and thought, I wish I could hang out with these dinosaurs more? Enter Primeval. Truly a hidden gem, this sci-fi show from ITV sees a professor and his prehistoric-obsessed team track down and capture dangerous dinosaurs as they manage to slip through a rip in time from the past. There are too many good episodes to pick from. When a vicious sabre-toothed dinosaur breaks into a Go Ape-type park? Loved it. When a huge water dino gets into London's plumbing? Yikes. When a pack of velociraptors break into a mall? Run, don't walk, to your TV screens now. Primeval is available to stream on Now. If you have yet to come across Misfits, you lucky thing – what a treat you have in store. The Channel 4 dark comedy finds a ragtag group of young offenders suddenly struck by mysterious cosmic lightning while doing community service, which leaves them each with a special superpower. The premise gets 10 points for originality. Except this lot aren't about world saving. They're out for themselves. A foul-mouth twist on the superhero genre, those who enjoy Torchwood will also likely feel at home with this. The Umbrella Academy's Robert Sheehan is a stand-out as the immortal Nathan. Misfits is available to stream on Channel 4. Netflix's time travelling murder mystery Bodies stars Stephen Graham, of recent Adolescent success on the streaming platform. Given that he's one of the best actors working at the moment, we can rest assured this is going to be at least a base level of good. Graham's detectives grapples with four killings in four different timelines, in an adaptation of the late Si Spencer's graphic novel from 2015. The show bends time and genres in an ambitious set of episodes that have certain teething pains, but definitely puts a new spin on the detective drama. One for those who love something timey-wimey. Bodies is available to stream on Netflix. When you're watching a Doctor Who episode with a brilliant concept that doesn't quite come together, you might be left thinking, what would this have looked like in Charlie Brooker's hands? Netflix's dark tech hit has some surprising genetic similarities to the BBC stalwart, given they're essentially telling anthology stories. When Black Mirror and Doctor Who both started to take fantastical turns in recent seasons, the mystery-of-the-week similarities became even clearer. Which begs the question, Black Mirror x Doctor Who episode when? From the most recent seventh season of episodes on Streamberry – sorry, Netflix – start with 'Common People' if you want to be glum in an existential way, then end with 'Eulogy' if you want to be glum in a moving way. Black Mirror is available to stream on Netflix. A bit of a curveball to end the list, but this is one for the Ncuti Gatwa converts. More Trending There are some fans who perhaps didn't know much about the Scottish actor before he stepped into the Tardis, but it was on Sex Education where he first made a name for himself. Watching his fabulous character Eric in the sex positive teen drama on Netflix makes it clear why Gatwa was cast as the Doctor. He's at turns funny, moving and an eternal scene-stealer. What's more, the show is an absolute delight and with an up-and-coming who's who cast, it's essentially become the British Euphoria. View More » Sex Education is available to stream on Netflix. Netflix fans lap up new number 1 film based on shocking real-life murder
The new number one film on Netflix is based on a shocking but little-known real-life murder. A Widow's Game was released on the streaming platform on Friday and is already at the top of the movie charts in the UK. The Spanish-language thriller, starring Ivana Baquero, Tristán Ulloa, and Carmen Machi, follows the investigation into the slaying of engineer Antonio Navarro Cerdán (Álex Gadea). As police dig further into the matter, led by veteran homicide detective Eva (Machi) his widow's perfect façade is shattered, exposing a hidden double life. But what has sucked so many early viewers in already, only a day after the film's release, is the fact that A Widow's Game is about a real-life murder that took place in Valencia, Spain, less than a decade ago, involving manipulation and betrayal. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. The movie even includes real-life recordings from throughout the case. Eager fans who have already seen the film have rushed to share their thoughts, with Anastasiia Bantysh's five-star review remarking that the film 'portrays the nature of true human needs, depravity, and excessive self-confidence very well'. 'Loved it – didn't know anything about the story – well done, bravo to everyone involved,' added Judith Lungen in another five-star ruling. El Confidencial's critic Jose Madrid gave the film three and a half stars, declaring it 'accessible and pacey, addictive throughout its two hours and faithful (perhaps too much so) to the real event it portrays'. He also added that fans would 'enjoy a production that won't let you take your eyes off [it] once you press play'. Read on if you want to discover the true story as depicted in A Widow's Game… On August 16, 2017, Antonio, a 36-year-old industrial engineer, was ambushed in his building's garage in the Patraix neighbourhood of Valencia before he could even start his car, according to Time magazine. Stabbed in the chest, he died at the scene, leaving behind his 27-year-old devastated widow María Jesús Moreno Cantó, known as Maje, who worked as a nurse. Despite her outward shows of grief and disbelief over the callous killing of her husband, investigators' suspicions were soon raised by Maje's 'calm and calculated' behaviour in early questioning – something very much at odds with the behaviour of someone thought to be in shock and mourning. Detectives soon discovered that Maje was in fact leading a wild double life, carrying on with multiple extramarital affairs. One of her lovers, Salvador Rodrigo Lapiedra, worked as a janitor at Maje's hospital. Desperately in love with her, Maje had managed to manipulate him into carrying out the murder with promises of her love and allegations of domestic abuse against Antonio. Phone taps revealed incriminating conversations between the two which confirmed the police's suspicions that Antonio's murder had been premeditated, with Maje giving Salvador all the information he would need – as well as keys to the married couple's garage. He lay in wait for Antonio to leave that fateful morning, armed with a kitchen knife which he later discarded in a cesspit at his property after the deed was done. The duo was arrested in January 2018, but the twists don't end there. While Salvador initially tried to protect Maje during questioning – who denied any involvement with her husband's death – he later changed his story after learning she had embarked on another relationship with an inmate while in custody. In his new statement, he admitted to the committing the crime of murder at Maje's behest and with her full support, after presenting herself as the victim of physical and psychological abuse. She had reportedly told him that her husband dying was better for their relationship than a divorce because she could keep both her inheritance and a widow's pension in the first instance. In October 2020, both Salvador and Maje were found guilty of murder: Maje received a 22-year sentence, while Salvador's time was reduced to 17 years due to his co-operation with the investigation. They were both also ordered to pay €250,000 (£210,762.50) in damages to Antonio's family. Maje was nicknamed the Black Widow of Patraix for her crime, which hinged on plotting the murder of her own husband for, among other things, financial gain. The Netflix film's Spanish title is La Viuda Negra, which translates directly as The Black Widow. More Trending And female black widow spiders are, of course, known for killing the male after mating. In a final scandalous note to the real-life case, Maje gave birth to a child in July 2023 after getting pregnant by her inmate lover – a man known as David, who is also a convicted murderer. She now resides in a mother-child unit at Fontcalent prison, where she is permitted to stay until her child is three. A Widow's Game is streaming on Netflix now. Got a story?
