Keep politics out of ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu', say Pawan Kalyan fans and JSP leaders
JSP leaders K. Kiran Rayal and Chinnamgari Ramana, on Saturday, distributed sarees to sanitary workers deployed at theatres screening the film. The gesture was described as a token of gratitude for the workers' support during the benefit shows.
Addressing the media, the leaders urged political opponents, fans of other film stars, and a section of both mainstream and social media to refrain from spreading negativity about the film. 'The film is a must-watch for people across all social groups and categories. It offers a glimpse into our history. However, a section of social media affiliated to a particular political party is deliberately circulating negative feedback,' they alleged.
Claiming that the film has already grossed ₹200 crore, the JSP supporters expressed confidence that it would soon touch the ₹500 crore mark, which they said would reflect 'the might of Pawan Kalyan's popularity'.

MP appeals to MEA for repatriation of stranded Kakinada fishermen
Jana Sena Party Member of Parliament from Kakinada, Tangella Uday Srinivas, has appealed to Sai Murali, Consul General of India in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, for the early repatriation of four fishermen from Kakinada currently in judicial custody in a Jaffna prison. In a letter addressed to Mr. Sai Murali, the MP stated that the Sri Lankan authorities detained the four Kakinada fishermen on August 4, when they reportedly entered Sri Lankan waters near Kankesanthurai. One among the four detained is Panthadi Brahmanandam. The four fishermen were sailing from Colachel in Tamil Nadu to Kakinada, when their navigation system failed causing them to drift into Sri Lankan waters. The last contact with their families was on August 2 when they reached Dhanushkodi. 'We seek the assistance from the Ministry of External Affairs for the safe repatriation of the stranded fishermen on humanitarian grounds', said Mr. Uday Srinivas.

TN Guv reserves Kalaignar University Bill for President's consideration
Last Updated: Chennai, Aug 6 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi has reserved for President Droupadi Murmu's consideration the Kalaignar University Bill, which was passed by the state legislative assembly earlier this year, a senior official at the Secretariat said. The Bill proposes the establishment of Kalaignar University in Kumbakonam by bifurcating Bharathidasan University, aiming to cater to the higher education needs of students in Ariyalur, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, and Tiruvarur districts. It is named after former Chief Minister and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, father of incumbent Chief Minister M K Stalin. Once approved, Stalin will serve as its first Vice Chancellor. The Bill is one of two referred to the President by the Governor. The second seeks to amend the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University Act to empower the state government to appoint and remove the Vice Chancellor of the sports university, the official said. Both Bills were passed by the assembly in April and subsequently sent to the Governor for assent. State Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan had earlier announced that the new university would commence operations from the 2025-26 academic year. However, the delay in obtaining assent has hindered the inauguration, the official added.
