Guwahati: The Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) has declared an indefinite bandh on the movement of Kukis within the foothill regions of Naga-inhabited areas, effective from midnight of July 18.The FNCC stated that the bandh is a peaceful but firm protest against what it describes as threats to the ancestral land, identity, and security of the Naga people.B. Robin Kabui, Secretary of the FNCC, the first concern is the proposed construction of the German and Tiger roads through Naga ancestral territories without prior knowledge or consent of the Naga people. The committee termed it a blatant disregard for traditional ownership rights.A road constructed in the hill region called the 'German road' has raised concern in the wake of violence Manipur. The road built privately during the ethnic conflict connects Churachandpur to Kangpokpi. It is named after German H Kuki, leader of the Kuki National Front-Military Council (KNF-MC), a militant group based in Manipur. It is said that the road was constructed on the initiative of militant leader German. The road was opened for people in 2024. There are several Kaccha roads linking Churachandpur to neighbouring Mizoram. There are roads between Churachandpur and Myanmar. Myanmar shares a border with Churachandpur.Earlier the Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) had expressed strong opposition to the proposed construction of the Tiger/German Road from Motbung in Kangpokpi district to Churachandpur, citing concerns over the road's naming. The organisation urged the Government of India and relevant authorities to reconsider the project and its implications. According to the organisation, the term 'Tiger/German Road' is associated with Kuki armed groups, which the organisation finds objectionable.FNCC stated the second issue raised is the alleged continued presence of illegal Suspension of Operation (SoO) camps of Kuki militant groups in Naga areas, which the FNCC claims poses a serious threat to peace and security. 'Thirdly, the FNCC highlighted the unchecked cultivation of poppy plantations, which it claims not only harms the environment but also fuels drug addiction and criminal activity, thereby endangering the social fabric'.The organisation added, 'These encroachments and activities, if allowed to persist, will irreversibly harm the heritage, security, and future of the Naga people. It further called on Naga bodies and tribal councils to unite in defending their ancestral domain".Meiteis, belonging to the erstwhile ruling class, account for 53% of Manipur's population and live mostly in the Imphal valley. Naga and Kuki tribes constitute 40% of the population and live in the hill districts.More than 260 people have been killed and around 70,000 people of different communities rendered homeless in the ethnic violence between the Meiteis and Kuki-Zo-Hmar communities since May 3.Manipur has been under President's Rule since February 13, four days after the resignation of N. Biren Singh from the Chief Minister's post.

NSCN-IM reaffirms commitment to Naga sovereignty on 10th anniv of Framework Agreement
Dimapur , Marking a decade since the signing of the Framework Agreement between the central government and the NSCN-IM, the organisation's Chairman Q Tuccu on Sunday reaffirmed the group's 'unwavering commitment to Naga sovereignty'. NSCN-IM reaffirms commitment to Naga sovereignty on 10th anniv of Framework Agreement Calling August 3, 2015, the day the pact was signed, a 'Red Letter Day' for the Naga people, Tuccu said the agreement recognised the sovereign rights of the Naga people. 'We are not going to give up what has been achieved,' Tuccu declared while speaking at a commemorative event organised by the group, and stressed the importance of defending the sanctity of the agreement 'at any cost.' He warned of internal and external threats to the Naga political struggle, criticising rival groups such as the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups , accusing them of compromising Naga political identity by accepting a solution under the Indian Constitution. The central government inked the Framework Agreement with NSCN in 2015 and a pact of Agreed Position with the WC-NNPGs two years later. Tuccu alleged that the NNPGs are a 'creation of the Government of India' intended to undermine the legitimacy of the NSCN's leadership and the Framework Agreement. 'The FA and Agreed Position are poles apart, and we see no meeting point whatsoever,' he said, rejecting any collaboration with the NNPGs and reiterating the NSCN's stance for a solution outside the framework of the Indian Constitution. 'We have to be resolute and prove our spirit of resilience to defend the Framework Agreement,' Tuccu said, calling on NSCN-IM cadres and the Naga public to remain united and vigilant against 'divisive elements' that could derail the movement. The Centre had declared the Naga talks with both groups concluded in October 2019. While the NNPGs have expressed willingness to accept a 'workable' solution and continue negotiations, the NSCN-IM has remained firm on its demands for a separate flag, constitution, and the integration of all Naga-inhabited areas, which has been rejected by the Centre. This has delayed a final solution to the decades-old Naga Political Issue. This article was generated from an automated news agency feed without modifications to text.

Orlando Bloom Reacts To Ex-Girlfriend Katy Perry's Dating Rumours With Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
New Delhi: You must be living under a rock if you have not heard the dating rumours surrounding Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau. Speculation began when the pop icon was spotted multiple times with the former Canadian Prime Minister in Canada, just weeks after her split from actor Orlando Bloom. Now, Orlando Bloom has responded to these rumours – and he did it in the most subtle way. It all started when the satirical site, The Onion, shared a fake headline claiming that Bloom had moved on from Katy Perry and was now dating former German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Yes, you read that right. The hilarious made-up story described a romantic evening complete with oysters, chocolate cake, and a quote saying Merkel had him laughing all night. 'Just weeks after announcing his split with fiancée Katy Perry, English actor Orlando Bloom was photographed Friday dining with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel,' it read, alongside an AI-generated photo of the two at a candlelit dinner, wine glasses in hand. Instead of ignoring it or getting defensive, Orlando Bloom joined in on the fun by simply dropping three clapping hands emojis in the comments, reported the Indian Express. FYI: Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau were spotted having dinner together in Montreal on July 28. Just two days later, on July 30, the former Canadian Prime Minister was seen cheering for Katy at her sold-out Lifetimes Tour concert at Montreal's Bell Centre. Last month, Katy and Orlando Bloom confirmed their split. The two first met in 2016 at a Golden Globes afterparty and got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019. In 2020, they welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove. As for Justin Trudeau, he announced his separation from Sophie Gregoire in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
