Kate Waugh no one-hit-wonder after third place finish
And Waugh silenced any concerns as to whether she would be able to back up her performance by shaking off her struggling bike legs and putting down a dominant run to soar into third.
Switzerland's Julie Derron claimed the victory, with reigning T100 Series champion Taylor Knibb in second.
"I was joking that I didn't want to be the one hit wonder so I'm really happy to back it up with another podium," said Waugh.
"I've been determined this year to be a more consistent athlete and I think that has been reflected in my races.
'Given that I didn't feel my best today, I'm even prouder. In Singapore I felt really good all day so it was easier to get a good result whereas today I pushed through that negative point."
One of the first athletes out of the choppy bay waters in San Francisco, Waugh was surprised to get onto the bike and feel off her axis.
Falling back in the field, the Brit admitted that she had to dig deep and brush off the negative comments in her head to keep focussed in time for the run.
"It was a bit of a rollercoaster of a day, I felt like I had a really good swim start and got into rhythm and good place," she said.
"But then I really struggled the first part of the bike and ended up in no man's land a bit so I was having to really motivate myself and keep minimise the gap to the front.
"I was really struggling out there and sightly worried coming onto the run as to how I would feel but luckily my run legs turned up and I put myself to work to get onto the podium so I'm really proud to do that."
With two podiums in two races, Waugh holds her spot at the top of the series rankings after San Francisco.
The next event takes place in Vancouver in just two weeks time, with the Brit not yet sure whether she will be taking to the start line to extend her lead in the standings.
But with two strong races under her belt so early in the season, Waugh is excited to see how far she can go as she looks to improve the little things.
"I never expected to be in this position so I'm really excited to build going forwards," she added.
"I want to be consistent and I have loads of things to improve on but that's getting me good results."

Moses Itauma's trainer makes 'dog fight' admission ahead of Dillian Whyte fight
Itauma faces the toughest test of his career on Saturday night, but the Brit's coach is fully confident his star pupil can get the job done Moses Itauma's trainer Ben Davison admits the heavyweight star has got it in his locker to emerge victorious should the Dillian Whyte clash descend into a dog fight. The 20-year-old faces the toughest test of his career so far against Whyte - a heavyweight veteran - on Saturday night in the Middle East. The Brit is a real superstar in the making after announcing himself on the world stage back in 2024 after brutally knocking out Mariusz Wach. Itauma has since gone on to defeat Demsey McKean and Mike Balogun - both via knockout. Both Oleksandr Usyk and Lennox Lewis have backed the young heavyweight contender to achieve great things. With just 12 fights under his belt, it is only a matter of time before he goes head-to-head with some of the top names at heavyweight. Despite all the hype, he is still yet to be tested inside the squared-circle. Many within the boxing community wonder how Itauma would fare when dragged into deep waters. But his trainer, Davision, believes his pupil is capable of thriving under real pressure in the ring. Itauma was seen showing off his incredible hand speed at the open workouts on Wednesday evening in Saudi Arabia. Speaking on the DAZN broadcast, Davison broke down Whyte's threat to his man. "Moses Itauma is not the type of fighter where we have to bank on people catching people at the right time. "He is good enough to mix with any of them at any point, and we have prepared for Dillian to turn up... the best Dillian possible, and if we haven't done, it's too late now." When pressed by the punditry team what problems Whyte brings, Davison replied: "It is his experience. He is a big, strong guy. Plenty of heart. Can punch. He brings all of those things to the table and that does not change, no matter what condition he turns up in. "Like I say, people keep talking about 'if it goes into a dog fight...' I have seen Moses. The young lad can fight up close as well, and you have got to have that in your locker. If you are going to mix in at this level, you have got to have that in the locker and he has got that in the locker. If the fight does go that why, I would not be shocked for it to still go as we expect. Ahead of the clash, Itauma revealed Davison helped him fully restore his love for the sport of boxing. 'Being in the ring (sparring) with all these heavyweights Daniel Dubois, Joe Joyce, Tyson Fury, Lawrence Okolie, I know that there are levels to boxing and I just felt like I was unable to learn any more,' Itauma said. The Brit admits that, under the guidance of Davison, he found a new side to the sport. 'I don't want to disrespect any of the coaches I tried or did work with. I love and respect them, but with Ben, he taught me a different side to boxing," he continued. 'He taught me there is more to boxing than punch, punch, get punched, punch back, punch, punch, punch. There is actually a whole chess game to this.' When is Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte? The 'Esports World Cup Fight Week: Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte' will take place on Saturday, August 16. Dillian Whyte retirement rumour spreads just days before Moses Itauma fight
The heavyweight veteran returns to the ring this weekend and many feel as if he is entering the twilight stages of his career as he prepares to take on Moses Itauma Dillian Whyte could hang up the gloves once and for all should be suffer a defeat to rising star Moses Itauma on Saturday night. It feels as if Whyte's career is on the line as he prepares to take on Itauma in the ring in Saudi Arabia. Both men are at different stages of their respective careers. Whyte is seemingly edging closer to retirement, while 20-year-old Itauma has been tipped for greatness. Whyte comes into the clash off the back of a win against Ebenezer Tetteh back in December. As for his opponent, Itauma scored a destructive knockout victory over Mike Balogun in his last outing back in May. At 37, many are wondering how much Whyte has got left to give. The Brixton native's former rival, Derek Chisora, has heard that the 'Body Snatcher' could retire should he lose to the young heavyweight prospect. Both Whyte and Chisora have gone head-to-head on two separate occasions, with the former winning both encounters, one via knockout and one on points. Despite their rather frosty relationship, Chisora hopes to see his rival roll back the years. 'I would love to see Dillian win,' Chisora told The Sun."Because Dillian is from the old school. I love Moses but I have shared the ring with Dillian twice and I've sparred so many rounds with him. There's a young buck who's coming in the neighbourhood, who's just smoking everybody, so I would like to see Dillian win it, it would be amazing." Chisora went on to add that there have been rumours going around that Whyte could call it a day should he suffer his fourth career defeat in Saudi Arabia. 'I would love to see Dillian win it, but it's a long shot, because Moses is on the right track now," Chisora added. 'And plus, remember, Dillian apparently said if he gets beat, he's going to retire, that's the rumour." On the Brit's condition, one fan wrote: "Wow, that's his best ever condition," while another commented: "Whyte is is looking lean and mean. He just got to avoid the uppercut, and he could pull of the upset in this fight." A final fan replied: "Wow he looks unbelievable. Itauma has got to be careful." Whyte has admitted he has not stepped on the scales since his fight with Tetteh back in December - but it remains evident that he has been hard at work. 'I've just been cracking on, man,' he said. 'I've just been focusing on giving Buddy [McGirt] what he needs, what he wants to see and how he wants to see it. 'I've been listening to the team. They've been around me a long time, so I've learned to just do what they ask, because they probably know me more than I know myself. They're monitoring me daily, so if they say, 'Don't go to the gym today,' I'm gonna sit down. If they say, 'Do more,' I'm gonna do more. But I haven't stepped on the scales since last December, since my last fight.' When is Dillian Whyte vs Moses Itauma? Daniel Dubois is serving suspension after brutal Oleksandr Usyk defeat
The former world champion suffered an agonising defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in front of over 90,000 fans last month and is believed to be serving a suspension Daniel Dubois is currently serving a suspension from the British Boxing Board of Control - due to expire next month - following his crushing defeat to Oleksandr Usyk. The pair went head-to-head in a historic showdown at Wembley Stadium in London last month - two years on from their first dust-up. Usyk would go on to score a dominant knockout in the ninth round, but the fight was not without drama after the Ukrainian was sent crashing to the canvas in the fifth round. However, Dubois' shot was deemed to be a 'low blow' - much to the frustration of the Brit's team. Their rematch was a little more one-sided. Usyk would go on to drop 'Triple D' in the fifth round before delivering a brutal knockout blow just seconds later. Not only did the 'Cat' pick up his second in over Dubois, but he also became an undisputed champion at heavyweight for the second time of his career. After taking quite a fair bit of damage from the rematch, Dubois is currently serving a suspension by the British Boxing Board of Control - as per Boxrec's website. The suspension ends on September 2 - meaning he will be able to return to training after the aforementioned date. This week, it was revealed that the pair have both turned in negative doping tests following their heavyweight sequel. As is the case with any fight, both fighters were subject to doping tests after the contest in London. The WBC revealed earlier this week that the results from the pair have come back negative. The WBC wrote on its official website: "The Clean Boxing Program has announced that all doping tests for both fighters have come back negative. "The second fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois ended in a stunning fashion at Wembley Stadium in London, England. The Ukrainian champion delivered a powerful knockout against the British fighter in front of his home crowd, allowing Usyk to retain the heavyweight belts and reclaim the title that Dubois had held. "VADA, the independent agency that conducts the anti-doping tests for the Clean Boxing Program, reported the conclusion of the process, solidifying the victory and legacy of the undisputed Ukrainian champion. The 'Clean Boxing Program' was implemented in 2016 to conduct doping tests in the WBC. The WBC has an agreement with VADA, the association responsible for sample collection, chain of custody, and laboratory analysis." Team Dubois sent shockwaves around the boxing community just weeks after the rematch after it was revealed the Brit's coach Kieran Farrell has left the heavyweight's team. Farrell joined head trainer Don Charles last year and was in his corner for his victories over Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua. And as Dubois attempts to rebuild his career, Farrell had decided to leave. In a statement posted to social media, he said: "I have made the decision to part ways with Team Dubois. In the 18 months with DDD we've achieved so much including an unforgettable night at Wembley, helping DDD become world champion has been truly rewarding on a number of levels. I wish Daniel all the best going forward." When is Daniel Dubois' next fight? It remains to be seen what is next for the former world champion, but it is expected that he will take the rest of the year to rest and assess his options going forward. Despite suffering the third defeat of his career against Usyk, Dubois still has a lot left to give the sport. Speaking about Dubois' future, his promoter Frank Warren said: "He has got to learn from it. He is only 27. I look at Frank Bruno for example, three times he fought for a world title and he got it on the fourth attempt," Warren said. "Daniel has won a world title so hopefully he will come back, but the bottom line is it was Usyk's night and he is a special, special boxer." The promoter added: "That is what Daniel needs to learn from this fight, to try and learn and develop the mental attitude that Usyk has. Daniel didn't stick to the task, he got careless, he dropped his hands and paid the price."
