Sridevi had her own charm in Hindi cinema. Any film in which she was a part would become a hit. In 1989, she was seen in a film in which she not only acted but also saved the sinking career of the director. Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna were also seen in lead roles in this film. The film created a stir at the box office.
The name of that film of Rishi Kapoor, Sridevi and Vinod Khanna is 'Chandni'. When this film hit the theatres in the year 1989, people became crazy about this love story. The film was a huge success in terms of earnings. Yash Chopra did such an experiment with this film, which everyone doubted, even the distributors. People also liked the theme of the film a lot. It was one of the blockbuster films of that era. Sridevi got an offer while sitting at home
Director Yash Chopra, who made the film 'Chandni', and the three lead stars of the film, Vinod Khanna, Sridevi, and Rishi Kapoor, are no longer with us. But whenever the names of these four are mentioned, this film is remembered. If Yash Chopra wanted, he could have called Sridevi to his office in Mumbai to talk about the film 'Chandni'. But he did not do so, showing his magnanimity, he went to Chennai and offered this film to Sridevi at her home. In the film, Sridevi has mostly worn chiffon saris and white salwar kurtas. In the role of Chandni, she was always seen spreading moonlight. The whole story was changed
Yash Chopra had come up with a love triangle like Chandni in the action era, so it was a big experiment. The story of the film was written by Kamna Chandra. In the film, Rishi Kapoor, i.e., Rohit's character, becomes handicapped after marrying Chandni and becoming the father of a child. In the climax of the film, their son brings a bouquet to Chandni's second wedding. But Yash Chopra got crazy and changed the entire story of the film and broke the love story of Rohit and Chandni after their engagement. A love triangle was added to the film by including Lalit and Chandni in Bombay.
Before this film, Rishi Kapoor had given many flop films. But after Chandni, his luck shone so much that he got back his lost stardom. Not only this, Vinod Khanna, who was known for his image of an action hero, got a new identity by giving him a romantic role. In this sense, this film proved to be a lifesaver for Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor. Yash Chopra's faltering career also came back on the right track after this film.

Having begun his career working as an assistant to Balu Mahendra, Vikram was also the co-writer of Vetri Maaran's Aadukalam. He is survived by his wife and children. Filmmaker Vikram Sugumaran , whose directorial works include the rural drama Madha Yaanai Koottam (2013) and Raavana Kottam (2023), passed away due to cardiac arrest on Monday. He was 47. The director had reportedly experienced severe chest pain as he was returning from Madurai to Chennai after narrating a story to a producer. He was immediately taken to the hospital but could not be saved. Having begun his career working as an assistant to Balu Mahendra, Vikram was also the co-writer of Vetri Maaran's Aadukalam. More than a director, Vikram was a brother to me; I learnt a lot from him: Shanthnu Bhagyaraj More than a director, Vikram was a brother to me, and I learnt so much from him. He always told me to do films that were rooted, as only then would people accept me as one of their own. When he designed Raavana Kottam for me, he took me to the deep south of Tamil Nadu, made me stay there and introduced me to the culture of that area. The way he filmed his script and penned dialogues was a learning experience for aspiring directors like me. Vikram was a lonely person and didn't share a lot and kept things to himself. But I've personally seen how casually and happily he could speak. I used to tell him to not take everything to heart and let this side of him out. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pistol de sudură laser multifuncțional siginificant Află mai multe Undo I feel bad he was struggling alone and not talking to anyone in his last few days. He'd narrate a script so beautifully, you'll be able to visualise the film: Viji Chandrasekhar Vikram was so hard-working. He approached me for Madha Yaanai Koottam after seeing the poster of my film Aarohanam; he didn't know who I was back then, but he immediately said, 'She is my Sevanamma' (her character in Madha Yaanai Koottam). When he narrated a script, he would explain things so beautifully that you would be able to visualise the film even before he actually made it. He called me excitedly a few weeks ago and said that he wanted to discuss a script with me. I asked him why he was taking long breaks between films, and he said that he was structuring a script. Vetri Maaran moves High Court after censor refusal for Andrea's 'Manushi'

Acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran has moved the Madras High Court , challenging the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for denying a censor certificate to the film 'Manushi,' which stars actress Andrea Jeremiah . The film has been produced by Vetri Maaran and directed by Gopi Nainar , has music composed by legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja. 'Manushi' deals with the sensitive theme of a woman being subjected to custodial harassment after being falsely suspected of terrorism. Its trailer was released in April 2024 and created considerable buzz for its bold subject. Censor board cites political concerns for rejection In September 2024, the CBFC refused to certify the film, claiming that it portrays the central government in a negative light and contains scenes that might confuse or misrepresent communist ideology. These objections led to a stall in the film's release, triggering discussions around artistic freedom and political censorship in cinema. The board's refusal reportedly did not involve a fair hearing or detailed explanation, according to the filmmaker. Petition urges fair hearing and expert review Vetri Maaran has now filed a petition in the Madras High Court, urging the judiciary to direct the CBFC to reconsider the film through an expert committee. In his plea, he argued that he was not given a fair opportunity to explain his perspective before the certificate was denied. He also pointed out that the CBFC failed to communicate the individual opinions of its members, thereby violating procedural norms. Filmmaker open to edits, seeks precedent-setting judgment The petition also highlights Vetri Maaran's willingness to make necessary edits if any scene is found to exceed the permissible limits of freedom of expression. He requested the formation of a new expert panel to reassess the film and pass a fresh judgment. The case is expected to be heard soon by Justice Anand Venkatesh, and the outcome could set a significant precedent for creative freedom in Tamil cinema.
