Brit tourist shares hilarious hack for saving loungers in sunbed wars video - but can YOU spot it?

British holidaymakers have been captured racing to secure loungers in Benidorm as sunbed wars heat up - but one parent has been branded 'sad' for unleashing an eyebrow-raising tactic to bag a prized spot.
The chaotic scene unfolded at the Hotel Flamingo Oasis in the popular Spanish resort on 14 May, with dozens of sunseekers seen sprinting toward empty beds in the early morning as the pool area opened.
Sunbed wars have been raging across Europe over recent years - a trend that sees tourists compete for prime sunbathing spots at hotel pools and on beaches, often armed with towels and blankets to ' reserve' their place before returning hours later.
The peak season practice has spiralled in popular hotspots frequented by Brits, such as Spain and Turkey, with staff at hotels clamping down on 'sunbed hoggers' by hiring bouncers and introducing parking ticket-style systems.
But in one video, shared to TikTok by @lightworks89, a particularly cut-throat parent arrived at the pool, equipped with much more than a beach towel, to claim a prime spot.
Guests at the four-star hotel can be seen spilling out into the area and shrieking as they dash to dump their belongings on one of many empty loungers.
However, amidst the carnage, a young boy in orange shorts can be spotted weaving his way through the crowd and instinctively leaping horizontally across five loungers to secure them.
Over 6,000 viewers rallied together to share their astonishment in the comments, with many people branding the actions of the holidaymakers 'pathetic.'
One person wrote, 'Sad people. go on holiday for a week and never leave the sun lounger,' while another said, 'That is absolutely pathetic.'
A third commented, 'That's not a holiday. That's my idea of hell. It's not even sunny,' as a fourth added, 'Council estate with a pool. My idea of hell.'
Another wrote: 'So sad... should pay a small refundable deposit to allocate sunbeds to rooms. it's so embarrassing.'
One viewer was left amused by the frenzied scene, as they commented: 'I actually think this is class. The sunbed race is now part of the entertainment.'
Meanwhile, others took aim at the parent who had appeared to instruct their child to race ahead to claim several loungers.
One person said: 'I'm so glad I don't do cattle class holidays, I won't embarrass myself fighting for a sun lounger amongst the feral kids and drunken parents.'
A second wrote: 'This is actually sad. A child actually laying down to save beds. Some holiday. I'm so glad I take my kids out exploring rather than getting them to save me a sunbed, sounds fun.'
It comes as British holidaymakers were recently seen queuing for over an hour in a bid to secure the best poolside spots at a Canary Islands resort.
Over 6,000 viewers rallied together to share their astonishment in the comments, with many people branding the actions of the holidaymakers 'pathetic'
Sunseekers armed with towels, suncream, and flipflops were captured in bizarre footage on May 28 lining up for the pool at the Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort, Las Palmas, Spain.
Isabelle Hanssen, whose balcony overlooks the pool watched on at the pool goers eagerly waited in line.
According to the halfpipe skier, the queue is usually made up of Brits with a few Germans also standing in line.
Isabelle, from the Netherlands, also revealed that the queues start from as early as 8am despite the pool not opening until 9:30am.

Inside world's ‘creepiest' island with 160,000 abandoned corpses where tourists are BANNED from stepping foot

THE world's most creepy island is littered with hundreds of thousands of abandoned corpses and intrepid travellers are barred from entering. Poveglia sits just off the coast of Venice and is comprised of three small areas, each as creepy as the last. 5 5 5 One includes countless crumbling derelict buildings, one was once used as a military fort and the third is barely visible after being covered by overgrown plants. And it is because of those unstable buildings that tourists are banned from setting foot on the spine-tingling patch of land. Rare exceptions are made for official reasons, such as research or filming. The reason for the island's spooky reputation is what is was used for in centuries past. In the 18th century, Poveglia was used as a quarantine station during outbreaks of the plague. People were dragged kicking and screaming to the island if they showed even the slightest symptoms of the Black Death, according to local tales. The 18-acre plot was also used as a mass burial ground, where some 160,000 victims are thought to have been burned to stop the spread of the disease. It has been said that even to this day, human ash from these cremations make up more than 50 per cent of the island's soil. British urban explorers Matt Nadin, 40, and Andy Thompson, 54, filmed themselves visiting areas of the island that have been left untouched for decades in 2020. Then duo posted the footage to their YouTube channel, Finders Beepers History Seekers, where they can often be found exploring abandoned and historic places of interest. English seaside town to transform abandoned beach shelters into new attraction Matt said: "It was really, really eerie. "You could tell even the taxi driver was scared, not just of the police but of the place itself, he couldn't get away quick enough. "The island is so full of dark, dark history, a hell of a lot of people died there and you really get a sense of the horrors that took place there while you're walking around. "They burnt all the bodies and left them where they lay. The island has never really been cleared properly or anything so everything has just been left. "Later on, when it was turned into an asylum, and because people were shoved there out of the way of prying eyes, they started to do experiments on them, horrible, horrible stuff. "Whilst we were there, we heard the bell toll and that was quite spooky, that did actually freak me out a little bit. It was like an omen or something. "The whole place was just really weird and eerie although you could tell from the tiles and the archways it would have been a beautiful building originally. "You could see that hardly anyone had set foot there for years because there is no graffiti or anything it's all just natural decay. "Nature has really taken over and it was really typical of a horror movie with all the vines and creepers. "Definitely an experience I won't forget in a hurry." 5 5

Monica Lewinsky, 51, shows off her taut complexion as she slips into a floral sundress for Cannes talk about 'reclaiming her narrative' after Bill Clinton affair scandal

She famously made global headlines after being embroiled in a scandalous affair with then-President Bill Clinton. But Monica Lewinsky has kickstarted her crusade to 'reclaim her narrative', as she made an appearance at a talk on the subject at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity on Monday. The activist, 51, showed off her taut complexion in a floral sundress as she spoke at the event, titled 'Reclaiming and Reframing: Moving your narrative forward.' Embracing the warm Cannes weather, Monica cut a stylish figure in her colourful printed sundress to take to the stage. During the talk, Monica was also joined by CEO of media company The Female Quotient Shelley Zalis, and Jen Sargent, the CEO of podcast network Wondery. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Monica recently shed light on having 'lost her future' after becoming notoriously famous for her affair with Bill Clinton during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. The chat with host Alex Cooper delved into what Lewinsky experienced in the fallout from the most famous extramarital relationship in American history. Cooper framed the situation: 'You were 22 years old, he was 49, you were an intern. he was the president of the United States.' Monica then said: 'I was very quickly painted as a stalker, mentally unstable, not attractive enough.' She now realizes her mistakes and how it cast a negative view of both herself and other women. 'Because of the power dynamics, and the power differential, I never should've been in that f***ing position,' she told Cooper. 'There was so much collateral damage for women of my generation to watch a young woman to be pilloried on the world stage, to be torn apart for my sexuality, for my mistakes, for my everything.' She then discussed how much she'd lost not just in the immediate aftermath but in years to come. Monica recently shed light on having 'lost her future' after becoming notoriously famous for her affair with Bill Clinton during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast 'I was in my early 30s, I had nothing. That was the point when I realized how much had been taken from me. I lost my future,' she said. Lewinsky also revealed that she believes Bill Clinton should have resigned after the scandal became public. 'I think the right way to handle a situation like that would have been to probably say it was nobody's business and to resign,' she began. 'Or, to find a way of staying in office that was not lying and not throwing a young person that was just starting out in the world under the bus.' Monica has been back in the public eye and giving interviews in recent weeks, having told Rolling Stone about her current dating life. She noted that she has found dating tough at times, but that most of her romantic encounters come through being set up by friends because she's not on the apps. 'I'm not on the apps,' she shared. 'I am like, I can't. I'm going to be catfished. I am so gullible. I think it's a level of trust that is just not quite there yet.' 'I date,' Lewinsky continued to Rolling Stone. 'I have relationships, situationships, all the things. I've had connections with some extraordinary men. 'I've been really lucky. Not lucky enough that it's been with someone where it's worked out at the right time. It just hasn't.' Lewinsky's infamous affair with former president Clinton eventually led to his impeachment. On August 17, 1998, after multiple denials, the former leader appeared on television and finally confessed he was 'solely and completely responsible' for the relationship. Monica has talked about the affair numerous times since it was made public. She initially retreated from the public eye, admitting she was left feeling suicidal after being hounded by reporters and ridiculed on talk shows. 'I just couldn't see a way out, and I thought that maybe was the solution,' she said years later. She admitted it was 'terrifying' to make the decision to step back into the public eye, but it has helped her to 'reclaim' the narrative about her life, following the infamous fallout over her affair with then-president. After spending time away from the public, Lewinsky made a grand return in 2014 with a personal essay for Vanity Fair. She has since dedicated a large portion of her time to advocating against online bullying and working to help create a safer social media environment. In 2019, she then signed on as a producer on Impeachment: American Crime Story, Ryan Murphy's series chronicling her affair with Clinton and his impeachment trial. She went on to launch her own production company, Alt Ending Productions, in 2021 - signing a first-look deal for scripted dramas with 20th Television. In his memoir, which was released in November, Clinton admitted he never apologized directly to Monica over the scandal. In Citizen, he wrote about a 2018 interview on NBC's Today Show when he admitted he was 'caught off guard' by questions on the subject. At the time, host Craig Melvin brought up the #MeToo movement and asked whether the Monica affair would warrant his resignation if it happened today. Clinton said no and insisted that he had to fight an illegitimate impeachment. Melvin followed by quoting a Lewinsky column about how the #MeToo movement had changed her view of sexual harassment and asked whether Clinton also felt differently today. Recalling the exchange, Clinton wrote: 'I said, "No, I felt terrible then."' '"Did you ever apologize to her?" I said that I had apologized to her and everybody else I wronged. I was caught off guard by what came next. '"But you didn't apologize to her, at least according to folks that we've talked to." 'I fought to contain my frustration as I replied that while I'd never talked to her directly, I did say publicly on more than [one] occasion I was sorry.'

Catherine Tyldesley admits she won't speak to kids for ‘three days' when in ‘work mode' on set

CATHERINE Tyldesley has admitted she can go "two or three days" without speaking to her kids when she is away filming. The Good Ship Murder star, 41, shares her son Alfie, 10, and three-year-old daughter Iris with her husband Tom Pitfield and made the confession during a joint podcast. 6 6 6 Catherine said her career can be very "fast-paced" at times and take her abroad for long periods - such as when filming The Good Ship Murder. The Channel 5 drama is shot on board a cruise ship in Malta and, while she is there, Tom is back in the UK with their children. Catherine, who found fame in Coronation Street, said on the Behind The Brood podcast: "When I'm on set, being in Malta as much as I have been, a year-and-a-half in total if you join it all up. I'm OK, because it's very fast paced. "A little bit like it was on Corrie. My head is firmly in work mode. I'm somebody else, I'm not me. "But it's when I get back to that hotel in the evening and it's silent.. The bedtime routine, bath time, not being able sit on the bed and read Iris a book or chat to Alfie about how his day was. "I know there's Zoom, which is wonderful, but it's not the same." Tom said to his wife: "Some days we'll go two or three days without Zooming and that might seem mental to some people. "The reality is, you'll sometimes want to ring Iris and she's too busy playing with her dollies." Catherine added: "We feel like we know when the time is right and I'm often on a different time zone to you. "When I'm filming on the cruise ship, that's a nightmare because the WiFi is all over the place and we skip from tome zone, to time zone. The Good Ship Murder Channel 5 Trailer "It is difficult and I always say to the other actors on set.. they're like, 'You alright, Cath? Are you missing your kids?' And I'm like, 'I just want to sniff them'. "I just have this... you know when your arms go a bit funny because you just want to squeeze them and sniff their sweaty little heads." Tom joked: "It's funny, as I just want to launch them out of the window some days!" Catherine played Eva Price in Coronation Street from 2011 to 2018. The star gave birth to Alfie in 2015 and she and Tom married the following year. They welcomed Iris in April 2022. Tom is a photographer and co-founder of Brood magazine. Shortly after Iris was born, Catherine landed her role as First Office Kate Woods in The Good Ship Murder. This meant she had to go abroad when their daughter was only a few months old, which left Tom 'holding the baby'. Speaking to Brood at the time, he said: "To be honest, with this job and how it just all happened so quickly, we didn't really have time to think. "As soon as Cath walked out of the door to go the airport, I had that realisation that I've got to cook the tea now, whilst holding the baby and looking after a seven-year-old, and that's not going to change for the next three months. "But you know what, we've done it before – albeit it was just me and Alfie then, so we've got an extra one this time, but we'll do it!" He added: "We knew this was going to be our life whether we had one or two kids, or no kids, so we knew the deal when we first got together and we always said we would do everything as a team, so this is just the next adventure, and we'll complete it and move on. "And we've got to just stay positive like that, as Cath's following her dreams and we support her, just like she supports me, so it's mutual respect.' The Good Ship Murder, which also stars Shayne Ward, is set to return for a third series in 2026. 6 6 6
