Grab rolls out electric airport fleet at KLIA to drive greener mobility
SEPANG, June 24 — Grab Malaysia has launched its first fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) dedicated to airport transport services at KLIA, marking a step forward in its sustainability and carbon reduction goals.
Grab Malaysia's country operations and mobility director, Rashid Shukor, said the move toward low or zero-emission transport among its driver-partners is part of the company's long-term strategy to reduce emissions.
'The company is proud to contribute to Malaysia's national agenda of lowering carbon emissions and promoting greener mobility solutions.
'By offering travellers a dedicated EV transport option directly from KLIA, Grab aims to raise awareness and drive public interest in EV usage nationwide,' he said during the official launch of Grab EV Service here today.
Rashid said KLIA was chosen as the initial launch site because of its importance as a key transportation hub in Malaysia.
'With high visibility and strong demand for e-hailing services, KLIA provides the perfect platform to showcase that EVs are not only viable but also comfortable and future-ready,' he said.
To enhance passenger experience, Grab has also introduced an EV lounge at the terminal, offering travellers a comfortable waiting area for their rides.
'This initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in March with industry partners including BYD Sime Motors, Yinson Green Technologies, and Power-Up Tech,' Rashid said.
The new service features the BYD M6, a fully electric seven-seater MPV that offers a quieter, smoother ride, with a foldable third row for expanded luggage space.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — A Porsche linked to a Malaysian celebrity tops the heap of 101 marquee vehicles seized by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) during the implementation of Ops Luxury nationwide from June 1 until today. 'All vehicles involved are now detained at the JPJ storage depot for further action and investigation,' he said at the Ops Luxury press conference at the Kuala Lumpur JPJ here today. Aedy Fadly said the integrated implementation of Ops Luxury was aimed at curbing the careless attitude of a few luxury vehicle owners towards road regulations. 'Owning a luxury vehicle is not a licence to ignore the law. The laws of the country apply to all regardless of status or brand of vehicle. 'Strict action will continue to be taken against anyone who fails to comply with basic requirements such as vehicle documents and a valid driving licence,' he said. He also encouraged the public to report any traffic law violations via the MyJPJ: e-Aduan app or email [email protected] with complete details for investigation purposes. 'The JPJ will continue to implement Ops Luxury periodically to ensure that only legal, safe, and registered vehicles are allowed on the road. GRAB Malaysia on Tuesday launched its first fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) dedicated to airport transportation. This marks a significant step forward in the company's efforts to reduce carbon emissions, promote EV adoption, and contribute to Malaysia's Green Economy. The launch took place at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and was officiated by Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Available for passengers travelling from KLIA, the new EV ride option can be booked through the Grab app. The service features the BYD M6, a seven-seater electric MPV offering passengers a quieter, smoother ride experience. The third row seats can be easily folded down to create a larger, flat cargo area for more luggage. Gobind announces MyGOV Malaysia app to launch in July, streamlining access to govt services
KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo today announced that the MyGOV Malaysia mobile application will be launched in July 2025. Gobind said the MyGOV Malaysia app is part of the nation's Government Technology (GovTech) initiative, aimed at providing Malaysians with easy access to various government agencies through a single gateway. 'This is part of the government's plan to transform Malaysia into a digital nation,' he said in a statement. 'It is only right to ensure we have a single platform where Malaysians can deal with various government agencies seamlessly.' The MyGOV Malaysia mobile application will initially focus on seven main services: travel (passport-related matters), registration (birth and citizenship), driving (road tax and driving licenses), healthcare (appointments and medical records), summons, housing (land tax/assessment rates), and the Rahmah Cash Aid (Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah). More features are expected to be added in the future. Gobind said MyGOV Malaysia will be integrated with MyDigital ID to streamline access to government services via a single, secure platform. 'Users will be able to verify their identity and access multiple services directly through the mobile application using their MyDigital ID credentials. 'This unified approach not only simplifies user interaction with government platforms but also underpins the broader commitment to digital inclusivity, trust, and service excellence by the Ministry of Digital,' he said. The app will allow Malaysians to access multiple services directly on their mobile devices. 'This is part of our journey in transforming Malaysia into a digital nation, a journey that will benefit Malaysians and ensure no one is left behind in a trusted digital environment,' he added. As of June 23, Gobind said 2,604,160 MyDigital ID registrations had been recorded. He added that the single sign-on integration will initially cover 34 main government system applications, with more services to be included soon. Gobind also highlighted that the development of MyGOV Malaysia involves collaborations with the private sector, including telecommunications companies and banking institutions. The end goal, he said, is to provide users with easier, safer access to services while benefiting the government by optimising operational costs at Urban Transformation Centres (UTCs) nationwide and improving productivity through better data-driven decision-making.
