Franco Colapinto crashed during Pirelli tyre testing at Hungaroring but was uninjured. The Alpine driver, struggling this season, replaced Paul Aron for the test.
Argentine Formula One driver Franco Colapinto was involved in a high-speed crash during a Pirelli tyre test at the Hungaroring on Wednesday, but was reported uninjured after undergoing medical evaluation.
The 22-year-old, currently driving for Alpine, crashed at Turn 11, a fast right-hand corner typically taken at 220 km/h, during the second and final day of post-race testing at the venue that hosted last weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.

The French outfit, owned by Renault, did not provide specific details regarding the cause of the crash or the extent of damage to the car.
The incident occurred during a two-day test organized by Pirelli, with Alpine, Ferrari, McLaren, and Racing Bulls all participating as part of preparations for future tyre developments.
Colapinto's Struggles Continue Amid Pressure
Colapinto was handed driving duties for the second day of the test, replacing reserve driver Paul Aron. The young Argentine joined Alpine earlier this season, replacing Australian Jack Doohan after the first six races. However, his performances have fallen short of expectations.
In his seven race starts for the team, Colapinto has yet to finish higher than 13th and failed to start at Silverstone, following a qualifying crash and subsequent gearbox failure. These results have intensified speculation that his seat may be under threat ahead of the final stretch of the season.
In stark contrast, his teammate Pierre Gasly has delivered all of Alpine's 20 championship points, finishing in the points three times in the past six races and keeping the struggling team marginally competitive in the constructors' standings, where they currently sit last.

Last Updated: Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK captain, started practising for the 2025-26 Duleep Trophy, representing West Zone. He missed IPL 2025 due to injury. Indian batter and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad started practising on Saturday for the upcoming 2025-26 Duleep Trophy, where he will represent the West Zone team. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Gaikwad's season was cut short by an injury after scoring 122 runs in five matches, averaging 24.40, with two half-centuries. His performance was inconsistent, and his team managed only one win out of five matches during the season. Ruturaj was in Chennai recently and, along with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, launched the former's new padel brand in Palavakkam. Dhoni had recently said that Gaikwad's return will strengthen Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) batting line-up in the next IPL season, after Gaikwad withdrew mid-way through the previous season due to an elbow injury. Other notable Indian international players in the West Zone squad include Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, and Sarfaraz Khan. Shardul Thakur, named captain, has no previous experience leading in the first-class format but captained Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in December 2024, a one-day tournament. The competition, scheduled from August 28 to September 15, will kick off the Indian domestic season 2025-26. Last year, the tournament shifted from its usual zonal format to having four different Indian squads, A, B, C, and D, selected by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). International players like Axar Patel, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav participated in the tournament. This year, the tournament will return to its zonal format, with six teams: North, South, East, West, Central, and North East, selected by the Ranji team selectors in each zone. Neeraj Chopra Withdraws From Silesia Diamond League, Classic Clash With Arshad Nadeem Cancelled
Last Updated: Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem have withdrawn from Silesia Diamond League, disappointing fans hoping for an India-Pakistan face-off. In what has come as a major disappointment to athletics enthusiasts, double Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra and Paris Olympics gold medallist Arshad Nadeem have both withdrawn from the upcoming Silesia Diamond League, thus dashing all hopes of an India-Pakistan face-off. Nadeem is missing the tournament after undergoing surgery on his right calf in July, with his coach confirming he has been ruled out. However, the reason for Neeraj's withdrawal remains unclear. The tournament was scheduled for Saturday, August 16, in Silesia, Poland. Nadeem claimed the Olympic gold with a huge throw of 92.97m, edging out Neeraj, who recorded a best of 89.45m to settle for silver. Neeraj kicked off the 2025 season well, starting with a win at the Potch Invitational in Potchefstroom, South Africa, in April. Neeraj then made history at the Doha Diamond League by finishing second and recording his first-ever throw beyond 90 meters, reaching 90.23m. Most recently, Neeraj claimed a win at the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic, held at Sri Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium in Bengaluru, a competition named in his honour. Nadeem was slated to compete at the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru in July, but because of border tensions between India and Pakistan in May, he wasn't extended an invitation. Neeraj and Arshad are now gearing up for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, all set to take place from September 13 to 21. Neeraj is the current javelin World Champion, having bagged the title in 2023 with a throw of 88.17m. Neeraj might feature at the Brussels Diamond League on August 22 as well. Meanwhile, after his historic Paris Olympics win, Nadeem expressed deep frustration over promises made by the Pakistan government that remain unfulfilled. Despite being the first Pakistani athlete to win a gold medal in track and field, Nadeem revealed that he has yet to receive key promised rewards, including land plots announced after his win. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
