Udinese face Championship and MLS interest in Ross McCrorie deal race
And Herald Sport can reveal that Udinese are also tracking McCrorie this summer as boss Kosta Runjaić looks to add to his defensive options.
It is understood a fee of around £3.5million would be required to convince City to part with the 27-year-old before the close of business. Championship rivals Norwich City have also expressed an interest in McCrorie, while it is believed clubs in Major League Soccer are keeping a close eye on developments at present.
McCrorie was on target as The Robins started their campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory away to Sheffield United on Saturday. It marked an eye-catching opening weekend for new boss Gerhard Struber, with the Austrian showing his faith in McCrorie to feature at wing-back.
The former Rangers and Aberdeen defender scored four times in the final seven matches last term as City reached the Championship play-offs before losing to Sheffield United. In an interview on the eve of the new term, McCrorie explained his eagerness to pick up where he left off this season.
"As a wing-back, in the modern day, you've got to be able to get back post and you've got to be able to defend your back post,' McCrorie said. 'So it's just about getting up and down.
'For me, it's about the timing. I did a lot of analysis and video stuff looking back at my game, and I remember the first half of the season, I had two or three chances I should have scored, and they came back to haunt me. It's just practice in training and that calmness in the final third."

Man Utd receive new transfer statement after £40m links: 'A fantastic offer'
Zion Suzuki was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United earlier this summer, and the 22-year-old has now opened up on his future amid recent transfer links Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki has said he is totally focused on his current club, despite links with Manchester United. Earlier this year, talkSPORT reported that the Red Devils were stepping up their scouting of the £40million-rated stopper. The Japan international impressed for a team fighting against the drop in Italy's Serie A last term. He featured 37 times in all competitions for Parma and was instrumental in their battle to avoid relegation. United had reached an agreement with Urawa Red Diamonds to secure Suzuki's permanent signature in summer of 2023, reports the Manchester Evening News. But he turned down the switch and instead moved to Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden on a temporary deal. The keeper has now addressed the previous 'rumours' as United continue to struggle between the sticks, with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir both enduring difficult spells at Old Trafford. "I know there were a lot of rumours about me, but I'm totally focused on Parma and preparing to start the season well," he told Tuttomercatoweb. "Parma made me a fantastic offer, so I immediately decided to accept and join this club. Last year was an opportunity to grow, and I'm really happy with my choice." Referring to his first season in Italy, he added: 'In the end, we achieved our goal, which was to stay in Serie A. I've grown a lot, and it was a good season. "It taught me the importance of preparation, because only if you train well and in a certain way can you perform well. First of all, I want to reduce the number of goals conceded, because last season we conceded a lot. "That's my first personal goal, then as a team, we want to raise the bar and not just fight for survival.' The goalkeeping situation at Old Trafford was back under the microscope on the opening weekend of the season, after Amorim decided to not use first-choice Onana against Arsenal. Instead, Bayindir was named in the starting XI and was at fault for the set-piece goal which cost them a point after an encouraging performance. The United boss had the perfect opportunity to quash any potential headlines, considering Onana had missed much of the pre-season with injury. But he went out of his way to confirm the Cameroonian was fit to play and simply not selected. He said: "We try to choose the best players for each game, so next week is a different life. This week, we chose these players. No (he is not injured), he's recovered but the other guys did so well during pre-season, so I need to balance that."

Phil Parkinson hails Wrexham's ‘statement of intent' with Callum Doyle signing
The Red Dragons have been busy this summer as Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac's men rebuild for their first season back in English football's second tier since the 1981-82 campaign. Doyle, who joins in a deal the PA news agency understands to be worth £7.5million, is Wrexham's 10th permanent signing since promotion and follows last week's club-record £10m purchase of Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich. The 21-year-old has signed a contract until 2029, with City holding a buy-back option and inserting a 25 per cent sell-on clause. A fresh pour of bold. Callum Doyle joins the squad. 🔴⚪️ #WxmAFC — Wrexham AFC (@Wrexham_AFC) August 21, 2025 'Callum's a player we've obviously been looking at over the summer,' Wrexham boss Parkinson said. 'Always difficult deals to get because there's a player in demand. We've had to compete with some really good clubs to bring him here. 'He's only 21, he's got a lot of Championship experience, an England Under-21 international. I think he's a player of huge potential. 'This hasn't broken the transfer record. It's in line with other transfers we've made already this summer. Callum Doyle spent last season on loan at Norwich (Bradley Collyer/PA) 'But I think it is a statement of intent that we've won the signature over some established Championship clubs, who've been in the division and Premiership before recently, and obviously clubs in other European leagues.' Doyle came through the youth system at City, who have farmed the defender out on loans to Sunderland, Coventry, Leicester and most recently Norwich. The England Under-21 international already widespread Championship experience is in contention for Saturday's clash with Sheffield Wednesday. 'Obviously it's difficult to break through into Man City's team,' Parkinson said. 'I think Callum was at the stage in his career where he's ready to find a home, he'd had a lot of loan moves, and be part of something. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has had a busy summer in the transfer market (Cody Froggatt/PA) 'I've had a good chat with him over the last few days, and we were looking forward to getting him in with the boys. 'He's trained this morning with us and have another session and assess where he is fitness-wise because obviously he hasn't had loads of minutes, but he's here for the long term.' Wrexham may not stop there, though, and Parkinson says they are 'going to take stock' over a weekend they hope can mark the end their 43-year wait to win a match in the second tier. The Welsh side host the embattled Owls on Saturday afternoon having suffered a late 2-1 defeat in their opener at Southampton before falling to a 3-2 home loss to West Brom. Wednesday are having to balance off-field issues and Parkinson, who was manager of Bolton during some dark times, hopes they soon return to a sounder footing. 'You feel for the supporters of any club because football clubs are such a part of the community,' the Wrexham boss said. 'We know Sheffield (Wednesday), what pride they've got in that city, and the competition they have with United, et cetera. 'Everybody in football, we're all football people, understands that along the way that there are going to be clubs nearly every year who are in difficult situations, and it's important for the football community and world to support those clubs.'

Fulton blow as Hearts prepare to face Steelmen
Ryan Fulton will be sidelined through a groin injury for three to four months and Hearts are now monitoring the market to possibly find a new goalkeeper to add to the squad. Craig Gordon remains on the long-term injury list with no clear time for a return and so 20-year-old Liam McFarlane, who is 6ft 5in, has been recalled from his loan spell at Alloa who play in League One. He recently signed a new contract until the summer of 2028. Jamie McCart continued his rehab and Kenneth Vargas (hip strain) is making progress, but Finlay Pollock has suffered a setback with results of tests awaited. That's the injury news on the eve of Motherwell's visit to Tynecastle on Saturday (15.00) as head coach Derek McKinnes aims to put last weekend's exit from the Premier Sports Cup behind him. McInnes told the media that the defeat was not burst Heart of Midlothian's bubble and added: 'We've moved on.' He has been impressed with what he has seen of Motherwell under new Danish-born manager, Jens Berthel Askou, but is focused on beating the team nicknamed The Steelmen and then gaining three points when the team faces Livingston at the Home of the Set Fare Arena. That would maintain the club's 100 per cent start ahead of the international break. However, Motherwell midfielder Lukas Fadinger said the Lanarkshire squad are excited by the way Askou wants them to play and they come into the game having progressed to the Premier Sports Cup, quarter-final, by beating St Johnstone 1-0 last weekend, the game-winner coming in extra time. Fadinger was the scorer. Meanwhile, the Jambos have sold their initial allocation of tickets for the trip to Livingston on Saturday, August 30 (15.00) in the William Hill Premiership. More are expected to go on sale 'in due course'. Prices are adults £28, over 65 £20, students £20 and under 18 £15 with under-16 £11. Ambulant and wheelchair tickets are £20.
