Savannah Picton-Powell scored twice as Wales Under-20s overcame Scotland 52-29 to land their first victory of the Six Nations Women's Summer Series in Caerphilly.
Wales led 38-8 early in the second half and though Scotland threatened a fightback, the hosts finished with a flourish to open their account for the competition.

Scotland were first on the board through a Lucy MacRae penalty but Wales were not behind for long.
Mollie Wilkinson was first to go over and the full-back started the move which led to her side's second score, finished off by Seren Singleton when the ball was switched from left to right.
Wales' backs were in confident mood, with Marshall conducting them expertly, and Picton-Powell was next to hit a great line and crash over from close range.
Captain Branwen Metcalfe then got in on the act, the No.8 taking a quick tap and go, shrugging off a couple of attempted tackles and barging over. Marshall's fourth successful conversion stretched the lead to 28-3.

Picton-Powell thought she had a second try on the half-hour mark but her score was ruled out by the TMO following a knock-on earlier in the move.
Scotland then finished the half strongly and deservedly crossed for their first try when full-back Poppy Mellanby broke through before releasing Ceitidh Ainsworth to finish.
The second period began with Wales back in the ascendancy and it took them less than three minutes to re-open their account through replacement hooker Rosie Carr, who found herself at the bottom of a dominant rolling maul.
Picton-Powell crashed over for Wales' sixth score soon afterwards, twisting and turning in contact before stretching over the line, but Scotland responded quickly as Freya MacColl finished a neat move in the left corner.

After Sian Jones was sent to the sin-bin for head-on-head contact, MacColl turned provider for Scotland's next try, breaking down the left before feeding full-back Poppy Mellanby, who stepped inside her opposite number and crossed under the posts.
MacColl crossed for her second, converted by MacRae, as Scotland reduced the deficit to nine points but Dali Hopkins burrowed over from close range to give Wales breathing space before Evie Hill's try brought up her side's half-century with the clock in the red.
Wales conclude their 2025 Six Nations Women's Summer Series against Italy on July 17.

Kolisi returns as Springboks select uncapped front row to tackle Georgia

Boan Venter, Marnus van der Merwe and Neethling Fouche will all make their Test debuts for the Springboks against Georgia. Regular captain Siya Kolisi is also back to lead the team for the first time this year. After Saturday's Test, the Boks will have employed 46 players so far this season. The Springboks have selected an uncapped starting front row for Saturday's Test against Georgia in Nelspruit. Boan Venter, Marnus van der Merwe and Neethling Fouche will make their Test debuts as regular captain Siya Kolisi returns to lead the Boks for the first time this year. READ | Bok No 8 Jasper Wiese cops hefty ban for headbutt Venter, who plays for Edinburgh in Scotland, was called into the Bok squad in June as injury cover at prop. Van der Merwe and Fouche had their first taste of Springbok rugby in the non-capped game against the Barbarians in Cape Town last month. 'We wanted to make sure that Siya is 100% fit before selecting him, so it's great to have him back in the squad, while Boan, Marnus and Neethling have been training hard and deserve their chance,' said Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus 'Marnus and Neethling played against the Barbarians, so they have an idea of what international rugby is about, while Boan has shown great potential at club level and with the squad in the last few weeks, and we are looking forward to seeing him play. 'Building squad depth has been one of our pillars as a squad since 2018, and they are all undoubtedly ready to make the step-up.' The uncapped trio will increase the number of newly capped players this season to seven after Vincent Tshituka (flanker), Cobus Wiese (loose forward), Asenathi Ntlabakanye (prop), and Ethan Hooker (utility back) all made their Test debuts against Italy. Only five players who started against Italy last weekend - and eight in the match-day 23 - have retained their places. The five players who retained their places in the starting line-up are Edwill van der Merwe (wing), Canan Moodie (utility back), Grant Williams (scrumhalf), Pieter-Steph du Toit (flank) and Ruan Nortje (lock), while Wiese, who replaces his suspended brother Jasper as eighth man, and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu (flyhalf) are promoted from the bench to starting team. The inclusion of Kolisi and Venter in the squad increases the size of the group used by Erasmus so far this season to 46 players. Up front, Eben Etzebeth also returns at lock to partner Ruan Nortje, while Erasmus opted for a five-three forwards-backs split on the bench. Springbok team to face Georgia: 15 Aphelele Fassi, 14 Edwill van der Merwe, 13 Canan Moodie, 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Kurt-Lee Arendse, 10 Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, 9 Grant Williams, 8 Cobus Wiese, 7 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 6 Siya Kolisi (captain), 5 Ruan Nortje, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Neethling Fouche, 2 Marnus van der Merwe, 1 Boan Venter Substitutes: 16 Bongi Mbonambi, 17 Thomas du Toit, 18 Vincent Koch, 19 RG Snyman, 20 Kwagga Smith, 21 Faf de Klerk, 22 Handre Pollard, 23 Damian Willemse Regarding his team selections, Erasmus elaborated: 'We know how passionate and intense this Georgian side is, and they will be determined to make a strong statement, so we selected some experienced players who we would like to get more game time before the Rugby Championship, and a few of the younger players, who have put up their hands another run, so we are pleased with the balance we have in this group.' The Springboks have won their last two matches against Georgia - the last of which was in 2021 before the British & Irish Lions series - but the world champions are not underestimating their opponents. 'Georgia are a tough outfit, and they pride themselves on their physicality and brute force in the collisions, so the set pieces, mauls, and breakdowns will be key areas,' warned Erasmus. 'They also have quality backline players to round off their team, so we need to be sharp in all the departments of our game to ensure that we continue to lift our standards, build momentum, and get the desired result.' Saturday's match at Mbombela Stadium kicks off at 17:10.

ZURICH (AP) — Women's soccer is continuing to grow and this time it is Switzerland which is highlighting that trend. In total, around 60,000 people took part in the colorful fan walks before some of the matches in Switzerland. 4.5 million The peak audience on British broadcaster ITV for England's 6-1 win over Wales. That match and France's against the Netherlands was directly competing with the Club World Cup final between an English and French team — Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Euro 2025 won by far in the United Kingdom, with around 1.2 million viewers tuning into the Club World Cup final on Channel 5. However, 4.8 million viewers in France watched PSG's loss compared to the 2.3 million people who watched France beat the Netherlands. ___

Centre-half Keresztes 'to join Dundee United on loan'

Krisztián Keresztes is to join Dundee United on a season-long loan from Nyíregyháza Spartacus, with the Scottish Premiership club having an option to buy the 25-year-old centre-half, the Hungarian club have announced. United have yet to confirm, but Nyíregyháza sports director Tivadar Fekete told his club website: "We have been in contact with Dundee United for some time and now we have reached the point where we were able to conclude an agreement that is suitable for both parties. Advertisement "If Krisztián performs well after the loan, the Scottish team has the opportunity to buy him out and acquire his playing rights from us." Fekete said a similar arrangement had proven successful with left-back Barnabás Nagy's January move to Ferencváros. Keresztes, who is under contract with Nyíregyháza until 2027, is excited by "what awaited me in Scotland", saying: "I can feel what football means to the people living here. "I would like to test myself at this level. It is not often that you can play against Champion League-level teams like Celtic or Rangers." Advertisement Keresztes is also relishing the challenge of trying to progress through Conference League qualifying. The defender started his career in his homeland with Haladas, Ajka, Sarvar, Sopron, Dorog and Győr before joining Slovakian club Dunajska Streda in February 2024. He returned to Hungary in August and made 19 starts and six substitute appearances as Nyíregyháza finished eighth of 12 teams in their top flight.
