The latest on Awoniyi's injury
BBC Sport senior football correspondent Sami Mokbel, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live with the latest on Taiwo Awoniyi's injury:"He was taken into hospital on Monday night after he took a turn for the worse after the game on Sunday. He underwent the first phase of surgery on Monday night. My understanding is the damage caused to his abdomen was worse than they first thought it might be."He spent yesterday [Tuesday] asleep, in an induced coma, and there's hope that today they can complete the second phase of the procedure, which will effectively be the last stages of the repair, with a view to awakening him from the coma at some point today."

Rasmus Hojlund 'must be shaking in his pants' after teammate 'overtakes' him in Danish national team
Danish media have claimed that Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund 'must be shaking in his pants' after being overtaken in the pecking order for the Danish national team. A report from Bold made the claim on Tuesday night after Denmark eased to 5-0 win in their friendly against Lithuania. That saw Hojlund benched for Monaco strike Mika Biereth, formerly of Arsenal, after he enjoyed an impressive season as he scored 13 goals in 16 appearances in Ligue 1. Biereth opened the scoring after just 12 minutes to give his side the lead while also drawing a red card as he was fouled by Edgaras Utkus. The Danish outlet described Biereth as being 'venomous' inside the box - while adding that 'Højlund must be shaking his pants by now. He has been overtaken.' That assessment of Hojlund's status in the national team came after he endured a disappointing second season in a Manchester United shirt. That came after he endured a tough second campaign for Manchester United He scored just ten goals in 49 appearances across all competitions, with just four of those coming in the Premier League. That has seen him linked with a move away from Old Trafford with Ruben Amorim increasingly going to Joshua Zirkzee as his preferred option up front. That saw the Dane give an update on his future amid talk of a possible summer transfer to Inter Milan. The Italian side - who were thumped 5-0 by PSG in the Champions League final - have made further contact with Red Devils about a permanent move for the striker. Speaking after Denmark's previously friendly, a 2-1 win over Northern Ireland on Saturday night, he told TV 2 Sport: 'I have a contract [until 2028], so I expect to play for Manchester United. 'I'm looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I'm fully dedicated to the project that's underway. 'I know I can't get much out of reading things. I know what the facts are, and that is that I have a contract with Manchester United. 'I expect to play there, so I'm just getting ready for some summer vacation and then hopefully a good pre-season.' His comments came after United are said to be keen on signing another forward. As a result, they are set to listen to suitable offers for Hojlund, who cost United £64million plus a further £8m in potential add-ons when he made the move from Atalanta back in August 2023.

Meg Nicholls ‘bags a belter' for dad Paul in £280,000 spending spree as father-daughter duo smash the sales
MEG Nicholls helped dad Paul 'bag a beauty' as the father-daughter duo went on a huge £280,000 spending spree at the sales. Sun Racing told you that legendary 14-time champion trainer Paul is enabling the help of Meg at the auctions this year. 1 The pair hit up the Goffs Arkle sale in Ireland on Tuesday and got the cheque book out in style - snapping up three hugely promising sorts. The pick of the bunch was a £130,000 gelding by champion jumps sire Walk In The Park, whose mum Lackaneen Leader was placed in a Grade 1. Meg, who combines her role as an ITV pundit with sourcing top talent, said: "I'm absolutely delighted to get him. "We got our three top picks, and thought we might have had to stretch a bit more for the Walk In The Park. "Dad actually loved him from the moment he came out of his box. "His eyes lit up really, the horse had that bit of class about him. "He's really athletic, and we can't wait to get him back and get him going. "We knew he would make this sort of money – he really is classy, he had that swagger about him, and he's by the right sire. "We've been fighting hard against some big stables and as I have got older I've found it easier to work alongside Dad! "To get some pretty smart horses at what we valued them at - I'm delighted. Now we need to find the right owners for them." The pair also bought £78,000 L'Ami Pierrot, who is related to Nicky Henderson's former multiple Grade 1 winner L'Ami Serge. Being by Nirvana Du Berlais, he also shares a sire with Lulamba, so expect him to be a speedy sort capable over hurdles. The Nicholls also went to £75,000 for an unnamed gelding by Vadamos, whose progeny include Grade 3 winner The Other Mozzie and Grade 1-placed runners such as Matata and King Of Kingsfield. Nicholls told Sun Racing he will continue to work with long-time sales ally Tom Malone. But he thought it would be beneficial having another set of eyes helping him too, hence the decision to bring in Meg. He said: "I've been hearing all sorts of rumours, Tom and I are good mates but there has never been any contract between us. "He's a freelance and he buys plenty for me, so do several others. "I'm going to work with everybody, but Megan is going to get quite a bit more involved for me. "Results could have gone better over the last few years but that's the way things are, it's very hard buying these days. "I'll keep all avenues open, but more so than ever I'd like to get Megan much more involved on that front." Live Boulter and Raducanu vs Kichenok and Routliffe: Score and latest Queen's updates
Latest updates Luke Slater 11 June 2025 11:18am 11:18AM Katie Boulter overcomes serving woes to live out Queen's 'dream' It was a winning start in the singles for Boulter yesterday, despite some troubles with her serve. She overcame Alja Tomljanovic 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 to progress to the next round. 'I feel like I had a lot of emotions today,' she said. 'I think it's very easy to get caught up in just trying to get your first grass-court match. Also coming to such a historic venue, as well, which holds a lot of purpose and a lot of familiar feelings when I have come here before. 'To get the women back here feels very special. It's actually something I dreamt of, having come here the last couple of years to watch the men play, so I'm just really grateful to be on this court.' 11:06AM Good morning 'They' are calling it Boultercanu. The British Nos 1 and 2 (and world Nos 34 and 37) have teamed up in the women's doubles at Queen's. Their tournament got off to a winning start on Monday, with a comfortable 6-4, 6-2 victory over Wu Fang-hsien and Jiang Xinyu. They admitted they were quite nervous before the match, which was played on Court One rather than Centre Court. 'I was actually very nervous before the match,' Raducanu, who has limited experience in doubles tennis, said. 'I don't know if Katie could tell. But probably more nervous than the singles, because I just didn't really necessarily know what to do, but I'm really happy once we got out there. Katie made me feel so comfortable, and I'm just so pleased to get a win on the board.' Today they are in the quarter-finals of the competition, facing Lyudmyla Kichenok of Ukraine and Erin Routliffe of New Zealand. They defeated the all-British pairing of Jodie Burrage and Sonay Kartal in the first round in a tight 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (7-1), contest. Kichenok has a decent doubles pedigree. She has never made it into the main draw for a grand slam singles tournament but won the US Open in women's doubles last year and has featured in an Australian Open final and a French Open and Wimbledon semi-final. In mixed doubles she won Wimbledon in 2023. Routliffe too has a fine record, winning the US Open in 2023, making the Wimbledon final last year and winning the Tour Finals in 2024, too. Fair to say that this will likely be a tougher task than the first-round match. But Raducanu and Boulter have the game, if they click.
