
Central Govt NPS retirees to get additional benefits under Unified Pension Scheme

New Delhi [India], May 30 (ANI): The Ministry of Finance, on Friday, announced that subscribers under the National Pension Scheme (NPS) who have retired on or before March 31, 2025, with a minimum of 10 years of qualifying service, or their legally wedded spouse, shall be eligible to claim additional benefits under the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).These UPS benefits will be provided in addition to the NPS benefits already claimed by the subscribers.Eligible retirees who retired before 31st March 2025, under the NPS, are either eligible for a one-time payment equal to one-tenth of their last Basic Pay + DA for every completed 6 months of service or a monthly top-up if their NPS pension is less than the UPS amount plus Dearness Relief. Additionally, arrears with simple interest as per the applicable Public Provident Fund (PPF) rates.According to the ministry, subscribers and their spouses can claim these benefits through the physical mode, which involves visiting their respective Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) and submitting the relevant form. Online mode which include visiting the website www.npscra.nsdl.co.in/ups.php to fill out the online form, can also be used to claim these befits.
The last date to claim these UPS benefits is June 30, 2025, the statement by Finance ministry said.The Delhi Government is planning to increase the monthly pension for senior citizens and persons with disabilities by Rs 500 to provide additional financial support to these sections.Earlier this year, the NSO said that over 6.4 crore new subscribers joined EPF and ESI schemes between September 2017 and November 2019 and over 16 lakh new subscribers joined the National Pension Scheme during the period. Paraguay President Santiago Pena Palacios arrives in Delhi for official three-day visit
New Delhi [India], June 2 (ANI): President of Paraguay, Santiago Pena Palacios, was accorded a Guard of Honour upon his arrival at Palam Air Force Station in Delhi. He is on a three-day official visit to India from June 2 to June 4. The ceremonial reception underscored the importance of the bilateral relationship between India and Paraguay. During his visit, President Pena will hold high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders. The visit will also include meetings with business leaders and innovators in Mumbai. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that, at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi, President Pena Palacios will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers, senior officials, and business representatives. After the Delhi visit, he will travel to Mumbai before returning to Paraguay on June 4. This will be President Pena's first visit to India and only the second by any Paraguayan president. During his stay, he is scheduled to review the entire gamut of bilateral relations with the Indian Prime Minister, who will also host a lunch in his honour. The President is expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will host a banquet in his honour. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are also expected to call on him. In Mumbai, President Pena will engage with state political leadership, business and industry representatives, startups, innovators, and technology leaders. The State Visit aims to provide an opportunity to comprehensively review bilateral ties and discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest, the MEA added. India and Paraguay established diplomatic relations on September 13, 1961, fostering warm and friendly ties. Cooperation has grown across trade, agriculture, health, pharmaceuticals, and information technology sectors. Paraguay is a key trading partner for India in Latin America, with several Indian companies operating in the automobile and pharmaceutical sectors in Paraguay. Paraguayan companies, mainly through joint ventures, have a presence in India, strengthening economic ties. The two countries also share common views on various international issues, including UN reforms, climate change, renewable energy, and combating terrorism. (ANI)

General Insurance Industry premium income to grow by 8.7% in FY2026 and 10.9% in FY2027: ICRA
ANI 02 Jun 2025, 13:41 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], June 2 (ANI): The Indian general insurance industry is expected to witness strong growth in the coming years, according to a recent report by Investment Information and Credit Rating Agency (ICRA).ICRA projects the industry's gross direct premium income (GDPI) to grow by 8.7 per cent in FY2026 and 10.9 per cent in FY2027. This growth is attributed to the improvement in economic activity and increased pricing the agency forecasts the general insurance industry's GDPI to increase from an estimated Rs. 2.97 trillion in FY2025 to between Rs. 3.21-3.24 trillion in FY2026, and further to Rs. 3.53-3.61 trillion in FY2027. 'GDPI growth is expected to improve in FY2026 supported by pricing discipline in commercial lines and low base, continued growth in health and increase in vehicle sales vis-a-vis FY2025, partly offset by the impact of 1/n,1 which is expected to continue in H1 FY2026,' said Neha Parikh, Vice President and Sector Head - Financial Sector Ratings, to the forecast, ICRA suggests that private insurers are likely to experience stronger growth, while public sector insurers' growth is expected to be moderate due to their weak capital underwriting performance of private insurers is expected to get better, driven by better pricing discipline. According to Investopedia, Underwriting is the process through which an individual or institution takes on financial risk for a estimates a substantial capital requirement of Rs. 152-170 billion for three PSU general insurers (excluding New India Assurance) to achieve a solvency ratio of 1.5 times by March 2026, assuming full forbearance on the Fair Value Change Account (FVCA), given their weak ICRA projects the return on equity (RoE) for private insurers to improve to 12.6% in FY2026 and 12.8% in FY2027. Hyundai Motor India reports monthly sales of 58,701 units in May 2025
Gurugram (Haryana) [India], June 2 (ANI): Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) recorded total monthly sales of 58,701 units, including domestic sales of 43,861 units and exports of 14,840 units in May 2025, which shows the demand for the car overseas. According to HMIL, the availability of a few critical models was impacted in May on account of the scheduled biannual plant maintenance shutdown at the Chennai manufacturing facility. Tarun Garg, whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer, HMIL, commenting on the performance, stated, 'HMIL's total sales volume for May 2025 stood at 58,701 units. May is a month of our routine week-long biannual maintenance shutdown at our Chennai manufacturing facility which affects availability of few critical models. The company also stated, 'We continue to witness consistent growth in our exports volume and this is a testament to the 'Make in India, Made for the World' philosophy that we passionately uphold. Going forward, we remain hopeful of a steady increase in demand for both domestic as well as international shipments with reduced uncertainty on the geo-political front and improved macro-economic situation.' Hyundai contributed 68.5 per cent in domestic SUV supply to the Indian market in FY24-25, with Creta contributing to over 30 per cent in midsize SUV space. The company exported 163K vehicles, while domestic volumes stood at 599K in the last fiscal. Revenues of the company in FY24-25 stood at Rs 691,929 Mn. and EBITDA at Rs89,538 Mn, with EBITDA margin at 12.9 per cent. last fiscal the company has given a dividend of Rs21 per to its shareholders. The product line of Hyundai India includes Grand i10 (Hatchback & Sedan), i20, Venue, Accent (Verna), Creta and Creta Grand. The company currently exports to more than 80 countries. (ANI)
